Abstract

We examine here the spot welding characteristics of transformation induced plasticity assisted steels, which contain δ-ferrite as a consequence of their aluminium concentrations of 3·5 or 5·6 wt-% and which also have high carbon contents of 0·3 or 0·4 wt-% when compared with conventional automotive steels. The resistance spot welds are tested in both shear and cross-tensile tests in order to determine the so called ductility ratio, which is a parameter associated with the fitness of such welds for automotive applications. With an increase in the δ-ferrite fraction from 0·19 to 0·5, the hardness variation across the weld and heat affected zone is decreased approximately from 400 to 150 HV. It seems that the presence of stable δ-ferrite is helpful in reducing hardness variations and in achieving a significant ductility ratio of 0·39.  相似文献

This paper is a study of CA-50 rebars from SAE steel grade 1026. This study was carried out in order to improve the control of the mechanical properties of welded joints. Knowing certain variables are very important when it comes to finding the ideal welding parameters and the respective microstructural results, and consequently for the mechanical properties of welded joints. In order to carry out this study, a study of the material as received was carried out in order to establish a solid basis for comparison. The material was welded using argon as the shielding gas with 20% carbon dioxide. The wire used was copper-covered ER70S-6, and the welded joints were lap joints. The temperature was monitored using thermocouples for two different heat inputs. A numerical computer code was developed to simulate the phenomena that occur during the process (temperature gradient, phase transformations and heat transfer). The welded joints did not introduce martensite as a brittle phase, the weld metal had a dendritic structure, the heat-affected zone (HAZ) had two different zones with different grain sizes. All of this was due to the temperature gradient, which also led to different characteristics in the weld bead, HAZ, phases formed and different grain sizes.  相似文献

Problems of industries and manufacturers of welded structures in aluminium alloys are centred on reduction of mechanical properties in welded joints due to heat input effects on the heat affected zone; as well as effects of discontinuities and metallurgical defects, high cost repairs, and low productivity. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the influence of gas mixtures 80Ar20He (MG1), 60Ar40He (MG2), 80Ar19He1O2 (MG3), and 60Ar39He1O2 (MG4), on aluminium alloy AA5083-O weldability using filler metal ER5183 using the automated GMAW-P process. Methodology has included a factorial experiment design, customisation of welding parameters, and characterisation of base metal and welding regions. Analysis of results were carried out based on microstructure evaluation of welding regions, measurements of hardness and tensile properties, observations of discontinuities and defects, costs evaluation, and welding speed. Results show that gas mixtures with O2 are highly beneficial to obtain good weldability of the studied alloy.  相似文献

This work investigates the elaboration of a weldability window of an aluminium alloy 6060T6 tubular assembly welded by magnetic pulse welding. A destructive test is used to characterize the weld quality. The fractographic analysis of the fracture surface combined with the analysis of the macrographic section of the welded joint allows characterizing two typical weld cases: a potentially permanent weld enabling to undergo plastic deformation and a weld with interfacial discontinuous voids. The presentation of the weld variance in a charging voltage–air gap width diagram gives an operative welding range. The analysis of the impact velocity isovalues in this diagram allows understanding the shape of the weldability window which is potentially convex. The measurement of the wave height at the interface of the welded joint corroborates the qualitative weldability window.  相似文献
