Arc Spray Nanoparticle Synthesis System (ASNSS) has been used to prepare the silver nanofluids in this study. The metal electrodes under the electrical discharge will melt and evaporate rapidly and condense to form the nanoparticles in the dielectric fluid at lower temperature and produce the suspended nanoparticle fluid. Thus, the mechanism of the ASNSS process is superheating the electrodes by plasma to form metallic nuclei and supercooling these nuclei by dielectric liquid to produce nanofluid. This study considers the different controlling parameters such as discharge current, discharge voltage, pulse-duration time, electrode diameter, and the temperature of dielectric liquid. The optimally operated parameters can be obtained to produce the finer particle size in nanofluid. The results indicate the silver electrodes in alcohol fluid will produce the spherical nanosilver particles. The mean particle size of silver in different dielectric liquid temperatures of-40, -20, 0, and 10℃ is about13.4, 15.8, 17.5, and 21.6 nm, respectively. This indicates that the well suspended fluid can be obtained by controlling the lower dielectric fluid temperature.  相似文献

A numerical study has been carried out to investigate the effect of aspect ratio on heat transfer by natural convection of nanofluid taking Cu nano particles and the water as based fluid. The flow is laminar, steady state, axisymmetric two-dimensional in a vertical cylindrical channel filled with porous media. Heat is generated uniformly along the center of the channel with its vertical surface remain with cooled constant wall temperature and insulated horizontal top and bottom surfaces. The governing equations which used are continuity, momentum and energy equations using Darcy law and Boussinesq's approximation which are transformed to dimensionless equations. The finite difference approach is used to obtain all the computational results using the MATLAB-7 program. The parameters affected on the system are Rayleigh number ranging within (10≤ Ra ≤ 103), aspect ratio (1 ≤ As 〈 5) and the volume fraction (0 ≤0 〈 0.2). The results obtained are presented graphically in the form of streamline and isotherm contour plots and the results show that as ~ increase from 0.01 to 0.2 the value of the mean Nusselt number increase 50.4% for Ra = 1,000.  相似文献

In this study, the physical aspects of magnetohydrodynamic flow and heat transfer of a hybrid base nanofluid in a porous medium under the effect of the shape, thermal radiation, and Lorentz force have been examined using the finite element method. Copper oxide (CuO) of various shapes was dispersed into ethylene glycol 50%‐water 50% (likewise for Fe3O4). The Darcy model is chosen because of the porous medium. The effect of changeable, diverse parameters, for example, Hartmann number (Ha), volume fraction (), radiation parameter (), and buoyancy force (Ra), on the streamlines, temperature gradient, and Nusselt number are shown through contours. Outputs show that the Fe3O4 nanoparticles have a smaller temperature gradient than that of CuO nanoparticles. The Nusselt number decreases for a larger (Ha) number, but increases for a larger Ra, Rd. The blade shaped nanoparticle has a larger impact on increasing compared with that of other shapes.  相似文献

In the present analysis, our aim is to investigate the mass and heat transport of silver (Ag)–ethylene glycol (EG) and copper (Cu)–EG-based nanofluids between two rotating stretchable disks under the convective boundary conditions. We have also incorporated Cattaneo–Christov heat flux, thermal radiation, and chemical reaction in the fluid flow. The system of coupled partial differential equations is transformed into ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformations. The finite element method has been accomplished to find numerical solutions to transformed equations. The behavior of radial and tangential velocity, temperature fields, and concentration fields influenced by the various parameters are sketched through graphs. The local skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are also calculated for the pertinent parameters and displayed the results through tables. It is perceived that velocity sketches of both nanoliquids degenerate with larger values of thermal relaxation parameters. Also, the values local Nusselt number of both Ag–EG, and Cu–EG based Cattaneo–Christov nanofluid intensifies with improving values of stretching parameter at the lower disk, whereas, it impedes at the upper disk.  相似文献

The present investigation aims to explore the influence of a mixed convection and nonuniform heat source/sink on unsteady flow of a chemically reactive nanofluid driven by a bidirectionally expandable surface. Convective heat transport phenomenon is used to maintain the temperature of the surface. Moreover, zero mass flux is also accounted at the surface such that the fraction of nanomaterial maintains itself on strong retardation. The governing nonlinear set of partial differential equations is transformed into a set of ordinary differential equations via a suitable combination of variables. The Keller‐Box scheme has been incorporated to make a numerical inspection of the transformed problem. The spectacular impacts of the pertinent constraints on thermal and concentration distributions are elucidated through various plots. Graphical outcomes indicate that the thermal state of nanomaterial and nanoparticles concentration are escalated for elevated amounts of Biot number, porosity parameter and nonuniform heat source/sink constraints. Furthermore, it is also seen that escalating amounts of unsteady parameter, temperature controlling indices, Prandtl number, and expansion ratio parameter reduce the thermal and concentration distributions. Numerical results for the rate of heat transference have been reported in tabular form. The grid independence approach is used to verify the convergence of the numerical solution and the CPU run time is also obtained to check the efficiency of the numerical scheme adopted for finding the solution.  相似文献

This study addresses the fully developed magnetohydrodynamic flow of non-Newtonian fluid in a microchannel using tangent hyperbolic fluid model. The physical situation has been modeled by accessing boundary layer theory along with the physical aspects of thermophoresis and Brownian motion. The heat and mass transport phenomena are depicted through graphical interpretations. The modeled equations are nondimensionalized using dimensionless variables. The obtained corresponding equations are solved by employing Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg scheme accompanied with shooting technique. The fluctuations in distinct entities of physical connotations, like, the Nusselt number, friction factor and Sherwood number are explored in this examination. A notable reduction in the concentration field of the tangent hyperbolic fluid has been obtained for a larger chemical reaction parameter. The result shows that non-Newtonian fluids exhibit higher Nusselt number than Newtonian fluids. Furthermore, a significant enhancement in Nusselt number has been attained through a rise in the power-law index and thermophoresis aspect.  相似文献

Recent developments in fluid dynamics have been focusing on nanofluids, which preserve significant thermal conductivity properties and magnify heat transport in fluids. Classical nanofluid studies are generally confined to models described by partial differential equations of an integer order, where the memory effect and hereditary properties of materials are neglected. To overcome these downsides, the present work focuses on studying nanofluids with fractional derivatives formed by differential equations with Caputo time derivatives that provide memory effect on nanofluid characteristics. Further, heat transfer enhancement and boundary layer flow of fractional Maxwell nanofluid with single-wall and multiple walls carbon nanotubes are investigated. The Maxwell nanofluid saturates the porous medium. Also, buoyancy, magnetic, electric, and heating effects are considered. Governing continuity, momentum, and energy equations involving Caputo time-fractional derivatives reduced nondimensional forms using suitable dimensionless quantities. Numerical solutions for arising nonlinear problems are developed using finite difference approximation combined with L1 algorithm. The influence of involved physical parameters on flow and heat transfer characteristics is analyzed and depicted graphically. Our simulations found out that surface drag of Maxwell nanofluid with single-walled carbon nanotubes dominates nanofluids with multiple walls carbon nanotubes, but the reverse trend is noticed for larger Grashof number values.  相似文献

The convection in a vertical channel filled with a porous medium saturated by a nanofluid is studied numerically. The effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are incorporated in the model used for nanofluid. Also, the flow within the porous region is governed by Brinkman's equation. The generalized eigenvalue problem for the perturbed state is obtained from a normal mode analysis and solved using the Chebyshev spectral collocation method. The Rayleigh number is expressed as an implicit function of the wavenumber with other parameters. The critical wavenumber and the critical Rayleigh number are calculated for different parameters. The preferred modes under critical conditions are detected.  相似文献
