This study evaluated the ethical challenges and issues of online media in Nigeria. The study used a mixed research method. Data were collected from journalists in Jalingo and lecturers of Mass Communication in one public University. The quantitative data were analysed using SPSS version 25. While the qualitative data collected via interviews were analysed thematically. Both data suggest there is a high rate of unethical practices in online media in Nigeria. Fake news was ranked first, while other issues such as a lack of objectivity, lack of decency, invasion of privacy, hate speeches and sensationalism were found to be common in online media practice. Furthermore, the study found that desire to break news, lack of professional training and regulation, and political interest were key factors encouraging unethical practices in online media. The study also established that unethical practices among online media can be checkmated if online media practitioners are also regulated by licensing and exposed to training. Thus, the study recommended among others that the Nigeria Communication Commission should work with internet service providers and Telecommunication companies to design a model that will ensure that online media are registered before they can operate. Telecommunication companies and service providers should block online media that are known for perpetrating unethical practices.  相似文献

目的 分析用户在真实动态浏览新闻类APP的视觉规律及典型界面设计的可用性评价,提出有利于提升用户体验的新闻类APP界面设计建议。方法 分析现有的3款新闻类APP界面的信息构架和图文布局,归纳为两点式、四点式、五点式的信息构架,以及左文右图、右文左图、上图下文和上文下图4种图文构建方式,通过眼动视觉跟踪技术,对眼动指标(轨迹图、热点图、焦点图、网格图)及行为指标(误操作、犹豫点)进行分析,针对用户浏览时的表现,以用户访谈的形式询问用户的理解和操作行为,进行新闻类APP界面可用性评估。结果 提出了更有利于新闻类APP阅读的界面设计建议。结论 此次可用性评估测试是基于APP的动态眼动仪测试,是具有普适性的新闻类APP用户界面设计的可用性评估方法。  相似文献

In this paper, we present an approach to document enrichment, which consists of developing and integrating formal knowledge models with archives of documents, to provide intelligent knowledge retrieval and (possibly) additional knowledge-intensive services, beyond what is currently available using “standard” information retrieval and search facilities. Our approach is ontology-driven, in the sense that the construction of the knowledge model is carried out in a top-down fashion, by populating a given ontology, rather than in a bottom-up fashion, by annotating a particular document. In this paper, we give an overview of the approach and we examine the various types of issues (e.g. modelling, organizational and user interface issues) which need to be tackled to effectively deploy our approach in the workplace. In addition, we also discuss a number of technologies we have developed to support ontology-driven document enrichment and we illustrate our ideas in the domains of electronic news publishing, scholarly discourse and medical guidelines.  相似文献

Because online news is pervasive and online comments provide space for people to express their opinions and participate in open discussions, they affect public opinion. However, at least in Korea, male users seem not only to be more active in consuming online news but also in commenting online. Many previous studies have investigated the gender imbalance in news consumption of not only traditional media but also online media. Although a few studies explored gender differences in online comments on news, no study has investigated such gender differences using actual data on the basic profiles of commenters. To fill the gap between previous studies and reality and address the gender imbalance in online news comments and public opinion, this study examined the differences between male and female online news commenters. Furthermore, using actual data provided by Naver, the dominant Internet portal in Korea, this study analyzed the characteristics of female news commenters and those of news content where female users most actively commented. This study found that—at least in Korea—fewer women comment on news, they are less active than men, and that there is a difference between younger and older women. This study also found that people write more comments in a day as their age increases and the gender differences decrease with age.  相似文献

Infodemic, the spread of false information during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been raised as one of the major concerns aggravating the confusion in the global society. In this regard, the role of media as an information channel in delivering the reliable information and motivating the active participation of citizens in complying with government’s preventive actions becomes much more important. In this study, the role of online news and social media on people’s preventive actions considering the role of trust in citizens and government from the perspective of social capital is investigated. For the empirical study, a structural equation modeling is employed by using survey material gathered from South Korea in the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak. South Korea was selected as its COVID-19 prevention strategy focused not only on the provision of medical support, but also on the enhancement of social trust through active engagement with people through media channels. Our results reveal that the perceived characteristics of online news and social media influence preventive actions through the trust in citizens or in government. In addition, while online news media enhances trust in both the citizens and the government, social media only influences trust in citizens. Based on our findings, the role of media in preventing the spread of COVID-19 is dicussed.  相似文献

This study modelled the rational factors that predict fake news sharing behaviour. It also tested the moderating role of social media literacy skills. The focus was on social media users in Nigeria. An online survey was conducted to gather the responses from participants across Nigerian geopolitical zones. Structural equation modelling (SEM) Smart PLS 3.6 was used to analyse the data. We found that information sharing, the news finds me perception, trust in social media and status-seeking lead to fake news sharing among social media users in Nigeria. Specifically, trust in social media and status-seeking had a greater effect on fake news sharing behaviour. We also found that social media literacy skills significantly moderate the relationship between information sharing, status-seeking, the news finds me perception, trust in social media and fake news sharing in such a way that the effects/relationships are stronger among those with low social media literacy skills. This outcome contributes to theory and practice which was highlighted in the concluding aspect of this study.  相似文献

虚假新闻在社交媒体上的广泛传播,给社会带来了不同程度的负面影响。针对虚假新闻早期检测任务中,社交上下文信息不充分的问题,提出一种基于双分支网络联合训练的虚假新闻检测模型。该模型由最大池化网络分支(max pooling branch,MPB)和广义均值池化网络分支(generalized mean pooling branch,GPB)组成。MPB采用卷积神经网络对新闻文章进行文本特征提取,GPB引入了可训练的池化层,学习新闻文章潜在的语义特征。同时,在每个分支网络中,对新闻标题和正文之间进行语义关联性度量。最终,对两个分支网络联合训练后的结果进行决策融合,判断新闻的真实性。实验结果表明,提出的模型在准确率、召回率、F1值评测指标上均优于基线模型,F1值达到94.1%,比最优的基线模型提升了6.4个百分点。  相似文献
