ABSTRACT

Wireless Interoperability for Multiple Access (WiMAX) is one of the emerging fields of high-speed wireless communication that has enormous capabilities due to its range and the connection speed. Like wireless local area networks (LANs), WiMAX networks implement multiple quality of service (QoS) frameworks at the Media Access Control (MAC) level for assured data, voice, and video services. The question of ensuring QoS is basically how to distribute available resources to users in order to satisfy QoS parameters such as latency, jitter and throughput requirements. IEEE 802.16 standard does not have any particular guidelines on scheduling of incoming and outgoing data. This has caught the attention of researchers working on WiMAX. This article discusses the various issues in WiMAX along with a classification of various scheduling approaches based upon the type of scheduler for the sake of better understanding the scheduling problem and analyzing various available theories.  相似文献

Reliable and high-performance resource scheduling for Virtual Machines (VMs) in cloud can guarantee the efficiency of remote rescue with telehealth system. When a local disaster, e.g. earthquake and tsunami, happens in a densely populated area, the surging health care demand leads to the increasing workload in Data Centers (DCs) by storing and delivering a mass of patients’ information and real-time physiology signals. However, the current self-adaptive scheduling methods cannot provide a high-accuracy recognizing of the two conditions: urgency or normal, which would procrastinate the system into a high-performance status, while the best rescue time is lost. In this paper, we propose a Primary Node-based architecture for typical telehealth service on cloud, which takes into account both storage and delivery efficiency. We also design a novel algorithm to predicting and allocating the future bandwidth of all VMs in the telehealth service context. This method is able to dynamically adjust each parameter of a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) through collecting the historical information of the bandwidth workload. After we predict the future bandwidth consumption of VMs, a high-performance scheduling method is used to adjust the bandwidth to each VM for health care service. The simulation results prove that this algorithm provides a high-accurate prediction, which guides the allocating module to make decision before the request burst comes. Nevertheless, our algorithm improves the reliability of telehealth services for storing and delivering patients’ information among DCs.  相似文献

The use of a static var compensator (SVC) as a component of flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) devices to control power systems has been investigated for decades. Its aim is to regulate the system voltage and improve the stability and loadability of power systems. A typical assumption in such a system is that the parameters of the controlled system are known accurately, which is rarely satisfied in practice. This paper explores the development of a simple but effective controller for a single-machine infinite-bus power system with SVC subjected to both matched and mismatched disturbances where the controller derivation is based on the assumption that all parameters used in the system modeling are unknown, but bounded in size. The research in this paper illustrates how an indirect robust control can be incorporated with a modified disturbance observer-based feedforward term to attenuate the influence of parameter variations and disturbances from the outputs of the system. Simulation results are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

This paper presents a new high frequency Regulated Cascode (RGC) amplifier with improved performance. The split-length compensation technique is used to increase both the bandwidth and output impedance, and decrease the input impedance of the conventional RGC. The bandwidth of the proposed RGC amplifier is 5.81 GHz, which is about 2.7 GHz larger than that of simple one. The improved performance of the introduced circuit is achieved with no additional passive element and DC power dissipation. In the paper, output impedance and bandwidth of the proposed circuit are derived by using small signal analysis and have also been compared with the traditional one. In addition, a wideband high performance current mirror is designed in the work as an application of the proposed RGC structure. The bandwidth extension ratio (BWER) of the modified wideband current mirror is 1.37. The proposed circuits are designed by using TSMC 0.18 µm CMOS process and BSIM3 Level 49 device model. The circuits are simulated on Spectre simulator of Cadence to validate the analytical results obtained in the paper.  相似文献

Frequency-estimation algorithms devised for complex sinusoids, including the maximum-likelihood (ML) approach, when operating on real sinusoidal signals, suffer from spectral interference due to the superposition of the aliasing components at negative and positive frequencies. This paper introduces a frequency estimation ML-like algorithm, based on a spectral-matching approach, that avoids such superposition effect by incorporating it in the signal/spectrum model. As a result, the proposed method is able to generate a more precise frequency estimate in comparison to previous approaches at a comparable computational cost, as endorsed by provided computational analyses and simulation results.  相似文献

The explosive increase in data demand coupled with the rapid deployment of various wireless access technologies have led to the increase of number of multi-homed or multi-interface enabled devices. Fully exploiting these interfaces has motivated researchers to propose numerous solutions that aggregate their available bandwidths to increase overall throughput and satisfy the end-user’s growing data demand. These solutions, however, do not utilize their interfaces to the maximum without network support, and more importantly, have faced a steep deployment barrier. In this paper, we propose an optimal deployable bandwidth aggregation system (DBAS) for multi-interface enabled devices. We present the DBAS architecture that does not introduce any intermediate hardware, modify current operating systems, modify socket implementations, nor require changes to current applications or legacy servers. The DBAS architecture is designed to automatically estimate the characteristics of applications and dynamically schedule various connections and/or packets to different interfaces. We also formulate our optimal scheduler as a mixed integer programming problem yielding an efficient solution. We evaluate DBAS via implementation on the Windows OS and further verify our results with simulations on NS2. Our evaluation shows that, with current Internet characteristics, DBAS reaches the throughput upper bound with no modifications to legacy servers. It also highlights the significant enhancements in the response time introduced by DBAS, which directly enhances the user experience.  相似文献

A strategy of shifting by multiple scanning which can lead to near optimum results for the bandwidth minimization (BM) problem for sparse symmetric matrices is presented. An algorithm is described, and the comparisons of results and timings with other algorithms is given. Utilization of organic photodetectors (OPDs) and their applications for assembling on flexible and curved substrates have increased in recent years. However, organic semiconductors suffer from low carrier mobility that demands an optimized design and precise modeling for their applications. The OPDs frequency bandwidth is one of the most important criteria that needs to be investigated carefully. In this paper a comprehensive physical time-domain framework is introduced for bandwidth calculations as well as other several evaluation criteria. This model is verified by experimental measurements. According to the results, increasing the reverse bias voltage boosts the bandwidth of OPD owing to the increase of the carrier mobility. Based on the introduced simulation approach, the trade-off between the bandwidth and the responsivity has been investigated and an efficient design method is also proposed which could effectively improve the OPD performance.  相似文献
