Carbon-bonded magnesia and magnesia-alumina bricks are the state of the art lining materials of the sidewalls and the bottom of steel ladles. Industrial trial tests revealed, that a new generation of MgO–MgAl2O4–C bricks, where pre-reacted spinel is added in form of a new calcium magnesium aluminate (CMA) raw material, exhibit a longer service life caused by an enhanced corrosion resistance due to the formation of a protective slag layer. In terms of this work, laboratory corrosion tests have been performed in order to mimic the protective slag layer formation and to study the kinetics of the formation. It has been found that the formation highly depends on the amount of iron present in the melt, which leads to the precipitation of the brownmillerite-phase. Furthermore, the study was extended to force the formation of protective slag layers of different composition which are reliable at higher temperatures and wider temperature ranges by targeted adaption of the brick composition. Cup tests showed that there is a potential to manipulate the composition of a protective slag layer by targeted adaption of the brick composition. Oscillating water column based wave energy extracting system has a low efficiency due to the poor performance of its principal power extracting component, the bidirectional turbine. In the present work, flow over a bidirectional impulse turbine was simulated using CFD technique and optimized using multiple surrogates approach. The surrogates being problem dependent may produce unreliable results, if a wrong surrogate is selected. Hence, multiple surrogates such as response surface approximation, radial basis function, Kriging and weighted average surrogates were incorporated in this problem. Same design points were used to generate multiple optima via multiple surrogates to enhance the robustness of the optimization process. Numbers of guide vanes and rotor blades were chosen as the design variables, and the objective was to maximize the blade efficiency. Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations were solved for analyzing the flow physics. The computed results were used to train the surrogates and find the optimal points via hybrid genetic algorithm. The surrogates were further applied to find the optimal flow parameters by changing flow velocity and turbine speed. The relative efficiency enhancement through our present approach was about 16%. In this paper, we study the effects of thermal noise on the time evolution of a weak light pulse (probe) in the presence of a strong light pulse (pump) within a gain medium which includes random scatterer particles. Suitable thermal noise term is added to a set of four coupled equations including three diffusion equations for energy densities and a rate equation for the upper level population in a four-level gain medium. These equations have been solved simultaneously by Crank–Nicholson numerical method. The main result is that the back-scattered output probe light is increased as the thermal noise strength is increased and simultaneously, with the same rate, the amplified spontaneous emission is decreased. Therefore, the amplified response of the random laser in diffusion regime for the input probe pulse is enhanced due to effect of the thermal noise. 相似文献

A microchannel heat exchanger with a triangular wave and symmetrical triangular wave structure was proposed in this paper. In addition, a new N-type microchannel heat exchanger was developed to balance the heat transfer performance and pressure drop. The relationship between different configurations of the N structure of the microchannel and the heat transfer performance was analyzed. The results showed that, at a high inlet flow rate, the symmetrical triangular wave microchannel had the best heat transfer performance, followed by the triangular wave microchannel and the straight channel. At the same flow rate, the degree of disturbance of the fluid was highest in the symmetrical N-structure microchannel, and an excellent heat transfer effect was observed. 相似文献

Wave Energy Conversion (WEC) devices are at a pre-commercial stage of development with feasibility studies sensitive to uncertainties surrounding assumed input costs. This may affect decision making. This paper analyses the impact these uncertainties may have on investor, developer and policymaker decisions using an Irish case study. Calibrated to data present in the literature, a probabilistic methodology is shown to be an effective means to carry this out. Value at Risk (VaR) and Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR) metrics are used to quantify the certainty of achieving a given cost or return on investment. We analyse the certainty of financial return provided by the proposed Irish Feed-in Tariff (FiT) policy. The influence of cost reduction through bulk discount is also discussed, with cost reduction targets for developers identified. Uncertainty is found to have a greater impact on the profitability of smaller installations and those subject to lower rates of cost reduction. This paper emphasises that a premium is required to account for cost uncertainty when setting FiT rates. By quantifying uncertainty, a means to specify an efficient premium is presented. 相似文献

鄂尔多斯盆地东南部下二叠统山西组2~3亚段(以下简称山2~3亚段)为该盆地重要的天然气勘探目的层,但该亚段储层薄、厚度变化快、非均质性强,储层预测和勘探目标优选难度大。为了准确预测该亚段煤系地层致密砂岩气甜点区、提高天然气勘探成功率,针对该套储层的特征和预测难点,提出了90°相移技术识别河道外形、模型约束波阻抗反演刻画砂体厚度和子波衰减梯度属性识别含气砂体的地震逐级预测技术。研究结果表明:①山2~3亚段上覆5号煤地震强反射层,下伏储层地震反射能量弱,加之为稀疏二维地震测网、井控程度低,致使致密砂岩气甜点区预测难度大;②所提出的技术方法通过地震逐级预测约束,可以有效地刻画河道砂体分布并识别有效含气储层,提高了对勘探开发目标预测的精度;③基于该技术方法指导部署的勘探开发目标实钻效果好,地震预测结果横向分辨率高,真实地反映了河道及河道砂体的变化特征。结论认为,采用该方法可以有效地解决二维地震勘探区煤系地层强非均质性、薄储层致密砂岩气甜点区预测的地质难题。 相似文献

Methanol steam reforming has been used for in-situ hydrogen production and supply for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), while its power density and energy efficiency still needs to be improved. Herein, we present a novel methanol steam reforming microreactor based on the stacked wave sheets and copper foam for highly efficient hydrogen production. The structural of stacked wave sheets and copper foam, and their roles in the microreactor are described, methanol catalytic combustion is adopted to supply heat for methanol steam reforming reaction and enables the microreactor to work automatically. For catalyst carrier, a fractal body-centered cubic model is established to study the flow characteristics and chemical reaction performances of the copper foam with coated catalyst layer. Both simulation and experimental results showed that the reformate flowrate increases with the increasing of microreactor layers and methanol solution flowrate, the discrepancies of methanol conversion between simulation and experimental tests are less than 7%. Experimental results demonstrated that the reformate flowrate of 1.0 SLM can be achieved with methanol conversion rate of 65%, the output power of the microreactor is 159 W and power density is 395 W/L. The results obtained in this study indicates that stacked wave sheets and copper foam can uniform the reactant flow and improve the hydrogen production performances. 相似文献
