The general purpose of this article is to review the main ideas in fatigue analysis of composites in the context of the application of probabilistic methods, both theoretical and computational. That is why most deterministic concepts of composite materials fatigue are summarized together with stochastic approaches. The application of the perturbation based Stochastic Finite Element Method (SFEM) to fatigue analysis of homogeneous and heterogeneous media is shown. Further, homogenization method in its effective modules approach is proposed below for application in fatigue processes modeling of linear elastic periodic random composites. Considering stochastic character of the analysis, the reliability tools appropriate to multicomponent materials are presented together with the specially adopted brittle and ductile fracture criteria.  相似文献

Acrylic bone cement is used to fixate hip replacement implants into the bone. Creep and fatigue failure of the cement promote failure of the implant. For the purpose of implant testing, we derived a finite element algorithm that simulates creep and damage accumulation in acrylic bone cement. The simulation combines a Maxwell creep model, with a 3-D continuum damage mechanics approach modeling anisotropic damage accumulation. The technical details of the simulation are described. In a first application tensile fatigue tests on tubular cement specimens are simulated. The creep elongation and fatigue life of the specimens, as predicted by the simulations, are successfully correlated to the experimental results. In a second application, the simulation is used to predict creep and fatigue failure of the cement mantle around two hip implants with different clinical outcomes. It is shown how the simulation is able to predict the locations of cement damage around the implants, and the amounts of implant migration attributable to creep.  相似文献

This Paper summarizes and correlates the liquid helium pump data obtained previously in two separate test programs. In normal helium the second set of data shows a large performance improvement over the first set as a result of changes in measurement methods and in the pump itself. Peak pump efficiencies of 46% were measured. The pump appeared to perform approximately the same in He II as in He I; however, the He II data are not adequate for system design or analyses. Therefore, a new pump test program is planned to test the improved version of the pump in an apparatus designed specifically for He II.  相似文献

Several simple formulas have been developed to predict the variations of stress intensity factors (SIFs) for mode I crack induced by the inclusion within crack-tip field. The derivation of the fundamental formula is based on the transformation toughening theory. The unconstrained mismatch strains between matrix and inclusion, which induce the variation of the near crack-tip field, are estimated from the remote applied SIF K0. As validated by numerical examples, the developed formulas have satisfactory accuracy for wide range of the modulus ratios between inclusion and matrix as long as the inclusion is located in the K0-controlled field.  相似文献

Random hollow sphere stackings present good performance for the seemingly contradictory requirements of a light structural material and good acoustic damping properties. A way to optimize the architectured materials parameters is described. The structural properties of random hollow sphere stacking have been measured using X-ray tomography and compared to an Artz compaction model. The mechanical properties are optimized according to the architectural parameters by way of coupled finite elements and discrete elements simulations, and acoustical properties are discussed based on tube absorption models.  相似文献

An evaporating meniscus in a microchannel is investigated through an augmented Young–Laplace model and the kinetic theory-based expression for mass transport across a liquid–vapor interface. The complete expression for mass transport is employed without any approximations and boundary conditions for the film profile are developed. The thin film and the intrinsic-meniscus regions are distinguished based on the disjoining pressure variation along the meniscus. While heat transfer in the thin-film region is found to be relatively insensitive to channels larger than a few micrometers in radius, that in the intrinsic meniscus is quite sensitive to channel size. The role of evaporation suppression due to capillary pressure in both regions is discussed. Compared to the relatively small contribution to overall heat transfer from the thin-film region, the micro-region (defined here as extending from the non-evaporating region to a location where the film is 1 μm thick) is found to account for more than 50% of the total heat transfer.  相似文献

Wall-following control problem for a mobile robot is to move it along a wall at a constant speed and keep a specified distance to the wall.This paper proposes wall-following controllers based on Lyapunov function candidate for a two-wheeled mobile robot (MR) to follow an unknown wall. The mobile robot is considered in terms of kinematic model in Cartesian coordinate system. Two wall-following feedback controllers are designed: full state feedback controller and observer-based controller. To design the former controller, the errors of distance and orientation of the mobile robot to the wall are defined, and the feedback controller based on Lyapunov function candidate is designed to guarantee that the errors converge to zero asymptotically. The latter controller is designed based on Busawon’s observer as only the distance error is measured. Additionally, the simulation and experimental results are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.  相似文献

采用轴向应变控制方法,在MTS809拉扭复合疲劳试验机上开展了HRB400EⅢ级钢筋母材及焊接接头的低周疲劳试验,获得了母材及焊接接头的低周疲劳性能,如循环应力响应特征、循环应力-应变关系以及寿命预测公式等.通过断口电镜扫描发现,HRB400EⅢ级钢筋焊接接头的裂纹萌生于试件表面,且存在多处裂纹源.研究结果表明,焊接接头与母材的低周疲劳寿命及微观断裂机理方面均存在明显差异,并从力学性能变化的角度对引起差异的原因进行了解释.  相似文献
