Abrasive water jet technology can be used for micro-milling using recently developed miniaturized nozzles. Abrasive water jet (AWJ) machining is often used with both the nozzle tip and workpiece submerged in water to reduce noise and contain debris. This paper compares the performance of submerged and unsubmerged abrasive water jet micro-milling of channels in 316L stainless steel and 6061-T6 aluminum at various nozzle angles and standoff distances. The effect of submergence on the diameter and effective footprint of AWJ erosion footprints was measured and compared. It was found that the centerline erosion rate decreased with channel depth due to the spreading of the jet as the effective standoff distance increased, and because of the growing effect of stagnation as the channel became deeper. The erosive jet spread over a larger effective footprint in air than in water, since particles on the jet periphery were slowed much more quickly in water due to increased drag. As a result, the width of a channel machined in air was wider than that in water. Moreover, it was observed that the instantaneous erosion rate decreased with channel depth, and that this decrease was a function only of the channel cross-sectional geometry, being independent of the type of metal, the jet angle, the standoff distance, and regardless of whether the jet was submerged or in air, in either the forward or backward directions. It is shown that submerged AWJM results in narrower features than those produced while machining in air, without a decrease in centerline etch rate.  相似文献

火焰尖角数目和圆形度是早期火灾火焰的主要特征,本文主要论述了如何在数学形态学基础上,利用火灾火焰的两个特点判断和识别早期火情。实验中,对火焰的二值图像进行开运算,即先腐蚀,再膨胀,目的是为了对火焰图像进行形态学滤波,去噪。从实验结果可以看出,该算法可以很好的识别火焰和干扰源。  相似文献

Investigations have been carried out on an erosion-corrosion apparatus to investigate the behaviour of corrosion-resistant highalloy iron-base materials containing hard phases. These materials had been optimized for increased wear resistance under complex stress conditions. As expected, in dry erosion tests, very low mass losses were established; there was little difference between the materials. Also, in corrosive environments (NaCl, H2SO4), the materials showed good stability; however, the duplex structures were superior to the martensitic ones. The combination of erosion and corrosion produced large differences and, in some cases, markedly reduced resistance to damage. These results confirmed observations that it is impossible to deduce the environmentally influenced mechanical behaviour of an alloy from its behaviour in separate corrosion and erosion experiments. The basic mechanisms underlying these processes have been investigated only tentatively.  相似文献

Initial stages of surface erosion have been studied for NaCl and LiF single crystals bombarded by Ar+ ions with 20 keV. For irradiation with doses D=1010-1011 ions/cm2, exoelectron emission has been used, whereas for higher doses, we have used electron microscopy. Two stages of initial surface erosion have been identified; for small doses, there is slow development of atomic-scale roughening, which reaches its peak when areas damaged by closest incident ions start to overlap, and then, beginning with D=1016 ions/cm2, there is rapid etching, deep into the crystal, followed by the emergence of secondary microscopic structure, i.e. caverns, concentric closed steps and terraces. Ion-induced surface structure of alkali halide crystals has been shown to depend strongly on the presence of foreign particles on the surface, as well as on segregation. Topography of thin carbon films and some metals have been discussed.  相似文献

Problems of optimum hanging of long rotor blades of the last stages of steam turbines are considered. Causes of nonuniform erosion wear of the inlet edges connected with inaccurate location of holes for the external damper coupling on the chord of the profile are determined. Methods for optimizing the hanging of blades for raising the reliability of the last stages are suggested.
