Packed beds used in absorption columns are evaluated to determine whether they can also be beneficial for cake‐forming filtrations. To assess this, model systems are characterized and separated by using a dead‐end filter cell. Filtrations are conducted with different packings; the filtrate amount over time and resulting turbidity are evaluated. Packings increase the filter cake resistance and the separation time of the cakes formed with approximately incompressible solids. However, they exhibit a positive effect on the filtration of a more complex, compressible substance; the process is not only accelerated, but also the quality of the obtained filtrate is not compromised. These results demonstrate potential in the use of packed beds for the filtration of complex biogenic suspensions. 相似文献

Rutile coatings deposited on corundum substrates are considered as promising functional elements improving the efficiency of the filtration of oxide inclusions out of aluminium melts. This contribution describes the reactions between rutile and two kinds of the aluminium melts and discusses the consequences of these reactions for the filtration process. It was found that the contact of rutile coatings with molten aluminium leads to the formation of a corundum layer at the solid/liquid interface. The exposure of the rutile coatings to molten AlSi7Mg0.6 alloy produces an interface layer of MgTiO3. The interface layers possess defined orientation relationship to rutile which is characteristic for locally heteroepitaxial growth. The density functional theory calculations revealed that the TiO2/α-Al2O3 and TiO2/MgTiO3 interfaces with the orientation relationships observed experimentally have low interface energies. The mechanisms of the interface layer formation and the impact of these layers on the degradation of the rutile coatings are discussed. 相似文献

There is a widely used linear strategy to determine the parameters specific cake resistance and filter medium resistance in incompressible cake filtration. In this article, it is intended to demonstrate that this strategy has some disadvantages and should be replaced by an alternative nonlinear approach which yields more exact results. Even though the gains in precision are small for most cases, the nonlinear strategy is favored because it involves no extra effort and is grounded in the same physical theory as the original approach. This claim is based on a broad simulation study using noisy data with known parameter values to compare both fitting strategies and judge their accuracies. 相似文献

The release of ultra-fine particles (UFP, d < 0.1 µm) from hardcopy devices such as laser printers into the indoor environment is currently a topic of high concern. The general emission behavior of a printer can be examined by conducting emission test chamber measurements with particle-counting devices. Chamber experiments with modified laser printers operated without toner or paper also revealed UFP emissions. On the basis of these results we reasonably doubt the opinion that UFPs primarily originate from the toner. Instead, the high-temperature fuser unit is assumed to be one source for ultra-fine particle emission. UFP release typically follows the flow path of the cooling air which may leave the printer casing at various points (e.g. the paper tray). This limits the usability of the commercial filter systems available because the released particles could leave the printer without passing through the filter. Chamber measurements with various filter systems retrofitted to a laser printer demonstrate different efficiencies of UFP reduction. Complementary experiments were carried out in an office room. Here the decay of the particle concentration after a print job was about ten times slower than in the test chamber. A toxicological assessment of the emitted particles requires that their chemical composition be known. Due to the low mass of the released UFPs chemical analysis needs a prior enrichment on a feasible media. Experiments using electrostatic precipitation showed a flame retardant (tri-xylyl phosphate) whose concentration on the media was dependent on the number of pages printed. In this paper, based on mathematical approaches and behavioral modeling of internal blocks, an algorithm of designing a continuous‐time delta‐sigma modulator (CT ΔΣM) with aggressive noise shaping is discussed. Using proposed methods, the coefficients of modulator can be calculated directly while the finite gain‐band‐width of amplifiers and rise/fall time of digital‐to‐analog convertors (DACs) in feedback path are included in the transfer function of CT loop filter. To decrease the number of amplifiers, a unique resonator is proposed. Also, an extra feedback DAC is introduced to further reduction of gain‐band‐width requirement of last amplifier. To verify the effectiveness of proposed methods, a fourth‐order, single loop, CT ΔΣM that benefits proportional‐integrator element for compensation of excess‐loop‐delay is realized in system and behavioral circuit levels. It has a 4‐bit quantizer, over‐sampling‐ratio of 10, and out‐of‐band‐gain of 12 dB. The peaking in signal‐transfer‐function is alleviated using a feed‐forward capacitor along with proper choosing of rest coefficients. The designed modulator has 78‐dB signal‐to‐noise‐ratio; even the non‐ideal behaviors of amplifiers and DACs are involved in simulations.
