Snap-fits are often designed using guides that rely on classic beam theory, with the basic assumption that the beam undergoes small rotations and displacements. This is a poor assumption, for they typically experience both large rotations and displacements due to loading offset from the neutral axis and axial loading. This paper investigates the performance of the post & dome feature, establishes its nomenclature, and derives the equations needed to intelligently design different variations of it. The post & dome feature was selected for analysis because it is a high performance snap-fit that is self-datuming and can withstand some shear loading in addition to retention. The design equations were generated in three steps. First, an experimental array was created using a design of experiments approach. Finite element methods and multiple regression techniques were used in lieu of beam equations models for each of the trials in the experimental array. Finally, response surface methods were used to develop response curves based on the performance data generated by the finite element models. Sensitivity data was plotted for both the main effects and selected variable interactions. The traditional benchmarks for defining high performance snap-fits are retention strength, insertion force, and insertion strain. This paper uses an expanded definition of these benchmarks that also includes locking ratio (the ratio of retention force to insertion force).  相似文献

Felicity D Scott , Associate Professor of Architecture at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), describes here the instant city events of the early 1970s. These foreshadowed current global village media practices in what now seems a quaintly material manner: communication between sites involved the physical mailing of videotapes and ‘wire photos’ through the postal service. The sites themselves – in the US and elsewhere – were transformed into ‘instant cities’ through the erection of physical geodesic domes, teepees and inflatables in seas of mud. 山体主脊为厚层状石灰岩背斜主轴,北坡相同于岩层倾向倾角。在软弱结构面的作用下,岩层产生了蠕动作用,蠕滑力使坡下岩层穹隆,产生了应力集中区。勘察阶段查出了"饼状"岩芯和透镜体状空洞,施工阶段发生了边坡岩体位移现象。通过发明的监测器,对其记录数据与采石场卸荷区综合分析,从而论证了应力集中区机理,确定了穹隆段应力具有极强的方向性。  相似文献

提出了直升机整流罩锁紧机构设计方案,利用Pro/E软件进行各零部件的三维建模、虚拟装配。通过锁紧触点运动轨迹方程的建立进行了Pro/E环境下锁紧机构运动仿真,并应用有限元分析软件MSC.Patran校核了锁紧梁的强度。通过理论设计、运动仿真和强度校核结果表明了该锁紧机构设计方案的可行性。  相似文献

The Church of San Lorenzo in Turin, which was designed by the Theatine architect Guarino Guarini in the 17th century, is among the most famous Christian Baroque architectural masterpieces. Guarini was given freedom to plan and design this church, which can be considered his most innovative and influential work. The most significant feature of this building is its dome, which is magnificent and slightly different from what is expected from a Baroque church. The dome of San Lorenzo has been the subject of considerable research due to its perforated surface that allows daylight to penetrate into the interior space. However, this dome has been mostly described through mere observation in a poetic and mystical manner. Although a subjective analysis is vital in understanding this architectural piece, a systematic and objective analysis that includes numerical data is required to understand fully the illumination by natural light present in this work of architecture. This paper presents a method based on high-dynamic-range-imaging luminance analysis that employs a quantitative luminous measurement technique to analyze the daylight behaviorin San Lorenzo. The first section of this paper investigates the subjective experience in the dome hall, and the last two sections objectively show the dome functions and the manner through which the design of Guarini creates various light values in different parts of the dome. Such a design is responsible for the unique experience in the dome hall.  相似文献
