This paper highlights the structural performance of a bonded post-tensioned concrete floor subject to fires that travel horizontally between zones within the floorplate. The floorplate was previously analysed by the authors based on experimental and numerical investigations on one-way spanning bonded post-tensioned concrete slab strips. In the previous studies, a nonlinear finite element model was developed for the floor that considered the mechanical and thermal material nonlinearities of the floor’s components, interfaces between the components, different natural fire severities, different applied static load during the fire and different restraint conditions. The previous studies highlighted the importance of investigating the whole-building behaviour and provided a useful insight into the temperature distribution throughout the floor slab, failure modes, comparisons with current design rules and time-displacement behaviour of the floor under fire conditions. This paper extends the previous studies and uses the validated finite element model to investigate different horizontal travelling fire scenarios between zones and different inter-zone time delays to represent fire travelling time. The time-temperature distribution throughout the floor slab was predicted at different locations in the floor subject to travelling fires. Furthermore, the time-deflection and time-axial displacement relationships were predicted at different locations in the floor. The current study has shown that horizontally travelling fire scenarios and the inter-zone time delay affect the time-deflection behaviour considerably. The change in heating/cooling scenarios between zones has resulted in a cyclic deflection pattern, which has previously not been considered when designing post-tensioned concrete floors against fire. Based on the analysis of the results presented, it is shown that the worst case in terms of maximum vertical defection or maximum residual deflection, at a given point in the floorplate, could occur either under the assumption of a uniform fire or a travelling fire. It is therefore recommended that designers should consider the integrity of floorplates using various travelling fires.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Thermo-acoustic engines are devices suitable to convert heat energy into acoustic energy and vice versa. In this paper, travelling wave thermo-acoustic engine was designed and fabricated for the operating conditions of 30?bar mean pressure of working fluid (Air, Helium, Hydrogen, Nitrogen) and 500°C hot side temperature. The regenerator was made up of the can(s) of stainless steel SA-347and can be adjusted to achieve the required length. The access to change wire mesh size and its length enables to reduce the test set-up time and to enhance flexibility during experimentation. The modified secondary cold heat exchanger was developed for effective heat extraction from the working fluid and the effect of modified regenerator on the intensity of the thermo-acoustic power was also addressed. The present study shares the suitable alternatives for material selection, design considerations and preliminary estimation of heat exchangers at the operating temperature and pressure. It provides initial dimensions and enables to make a prototype.  相似文献

Many studies of the thermal and structural behaviour for large compartments in fire carried out over the past two decades show that fires in such compartments have a great deal of non-uniformity (e.g. Stern-Gottfried et al. [1]), unlike the homogeneous compartment temperature assumption in the current fire safety engineering practice. Furthermore, some large compartment fires may burn locally and tend to move across entire floor plates over a period of time. This kind of fire scenario is beginning to be idealized as travelling fires in the context of performance-based structural and fire safety engineering.This paper presents a literature review of the travelling fire research topic and its state of the art, including both the experimental and theoretical work for the past twenty years. It is found that the main obstacle of developing the travelling fire knowledge is the lack of understanding of the physical mechanisms behind this kind of fire scenario, which requires more reasonable large scale travelling fire experiments to be set up and carried out. The demonstration of the development of a new travelling fire framework is also presented in this paper, to show how current available experimental data hinder the analytical model development, and the urgent need that the new travelling fire experiments should be conducted.  相似文献

In order to follow modern trends in contemporary building architecture which is moving off the limits of current fire design models, assumption of homogeneous temperature conditions used for structural fire analysis needs to be validated. In this paper it is described, how temperature distribution in a medium-size fire compartment has been investigated experimentally by conducting fire test in two-storey experimental building in September 2011 in the Czech Republic. In the upper floor, a scenario of travelling fire was prepared. It has been observed that as flames were spreading across the compartment, considerable temperature gradients appeared. Numerical simulation of the travelling fire test conducted using FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) has been compared with simulation of compartment fire under uniform temperature conditions to highlight the potential impact of the gas temperature heterogeneity on structural behaviour. The temperature measurements from the fire test have been used for validation of the numerical simulation of travelling fire. The fire test has provided important data for design model of travelling fire and shown that its impact on structural behaviour is not in agreement with the assumption of homogenous temperature conditions.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of efficiently serving a sequence of requests presented in an on-line fashion located at points of a metric space is considered. We call this problem the On-Line Travelling Salesman Problem (OLTSP). It has a variety of relevant applications in logistics and robotics. We consider two versions of the problem. In the first one the server is not required to return to the departure point after all presented requests have been served. For this problem we derive a lower bound on the competitive ratio of 2 on the real line. Besides, a 2.5 -competitive algorithm for a wide class of metric spaces, and a 7/3 -competitive algorithm for the real line are provided. For the other version of the problem, in which returning to the departure point is required, we present an optimal 2 -competitive algorithm for the above-mentioned general class of metric spaces. If in this case the metric space is the real line we present a 1.75 -competitive algorithm that compares with a \approx 1.64 lower bound. Received November 12, 1997; revised June 8, 1998.  相似文献

When a premixed flame is placed within a duct, acoustic waves induce velocity perturbations at the flame’s base. These travel down the flame, distorting its surface and modulating its heat release. This can induce self-sustained thermoacoustic oscillations. Although the phase speed of these perturbations is often assumed to equal the mean flow speed, experiments conducted in other studies and Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) conducted in this study show that it varies with the acoustic frequency. In this paper, we examine how these variations affect the nonlinear thermoacoustic behaviour. We model the heat release with a nonlinear kinematic G-equation, in which the velocity perturbation is modelled on DNS results. The acoustics are governed by linearised momentum and energy equations. We calculate the flame describing function (FDF) using harmonic forcing at several frequencies and amplitudes. Then we calculate thermoacoustic limit cycles and explain their existence and stability by examining the amplitude-dependence of the gain and phase of the FDF. We find that, when the phase speed equals the mean flow speed, the system has only one stable state. When the phase speed does not equal the mean flow speed, however, the system supports multiple limit cycles because the phase of the FDF changes significantly with oscillation amplitude. This shows that the phase speed of velocity perturbations has a strong influence on the nonlinear thermoacoustic behaviour of ducted premixed flames.  相似文献

提出了一种基于数学形态学的能在噪声背景下有效应用的超高速方向保护算法。基于形态开闭运算的滤波器可有效滤除暂态行波中的噪声干扰,在完成滤波后,通过多分辨形态梯度(Multi-resolution Morphological Gradient,MMG) 表现出电流电压行波信号的突变特征,通过瞬时功率判据可得到故障方向。建立EMTP典型500kV线路模型进行仿真, 结果表明该判据能在强噪声背景下正确判断出故障方向。  相似文献
