This paper describes a facile method to control the morphology of polymer colloids and the architecture of polymer film via miniemulsion polymerization. By taking advantage of cyclization between the symmetrical diacrylate cross-linker hexamethylene diacrylate (HDDA) and the pendent vinyl in colloidal particles, the morphology of polymer colloids and the architecture of the after-formed polymer film were able to be well controlled by tuning the loading of cross-linker HDDA and crosslinking time. Four kinds of polymer colloid morphologies and four kinds of film architecture (honeycomb, close-packed, loose-packed, and enhanced-honeycomb) were characterized by TEM. The film formation mechanisms behind them were proposed based on the special and interesting results including Z-average size of the colloidal particles, Mc (molecular weight between crosslinking points) and mechanical properties of polymer film. Our results highly suggested that the morphology of polymer colloids and the polymer film architecture together determine the adhesive properties of the colloidal polymer film. The best of 180°-peel resistance, T-peel resistance and shear resistance of the polymer films were 138.12 N/25 mm, 40.98 N/25 mm and 25.72 N/cm2 at 2.0 phm, 2.0 phm and 0.4 phm with the same crosslinking time of 90 min, respectively. The continuum models of two-dimensional crystal lattice of metamaterial are investigated in this paper. The equivalent classical continuum requires the introduction of frequency-dependent mass density that becomes negative or infinite near the resonance frequency. In order to avoid the frequency-dependent mass density and make the dispersive characteristic of the elastic waves propagating in the equivalent continuum approximating that of lattice wave in two-dimensional crystal lattice of metamaterial, three kinds of continuum models, namely, the multiple displacements continuum model, the strain gradient continuum model and the nonlocal strain gradient continuum model, are investigated. It is found that the nonlocal gradient continuum model may better represent the dispersive relation and the bandgap characteristics of the metamaterial by the appropriate selection of nonlocal parameters. 相似文献

Porous ceramic diesel particulate filters (DPFs) are extruded products that possess macroscopic anisotropic mechanical and thermal properties. This anisotropy is caused by both morphological features (mostly the orientation of porosity) and crystallographic texture. We systematically studied those two aspects in two aluminum titanate ceramic materials of different porosity using mercury porosimetry, gas adsorption, electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray refraction radiography. We found that a lower porosity content implies a larger isotropy of both the crystal texture and the porosity orientation. We also found that, analogous to cordierite, crystallites do align with their axis of negative thermal expansion along the extrusion direction. However, unlike what found for cordierite, the aluminium titanate crystallite form is such that a more pronounced (0 0 2) texture along the extrusion direction implies porosity aligned perpendicular to it. 相似文献

Poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)/poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) was blended with polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and composite film was cast. Additional solvents of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and ethylene glycol (EG) were mixed and their effects on electrical conductivity and structural changes were investigated. The electrical conductivity increased in response to the additional solvent, leading to an increase in the PEDOT ratio relative to the control. PEDOT:PSS/PEO composite film had a much higher electrical conductivity than PEDOT:PSS/PVA. When blended with PEO, the quinoid structure revealed by Raman spectroscopy increased relative to the PVA‐blended case, indicating higher electrical conductivity. High tensile strength fibers of poly[(R)‐3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐(R)‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate] [P(3HB‐co‐3HH)], a type of microbial polyesters, were processed by one‐step and two‐step cold‐drawn method with intermediate annealing. Thermal degradation behaviors were characterized by differential scanning calorimeter and gel permeation chromatography measurements. Thermal analyses were revealed that molecular weights decreased drastically within melting time at a few minute. One‐step cold‐drawn fiber with drawing ratio of 10 showed tensile strength of 281 MPa, while tensile strength of as‐spun fiber was 78 MPa. When two‐step drawing was applied for P(3HB‐co‐3HH) fibers, the tensile strength was led to 420 MPa. Furthermore, the optimization of intermediate annealing condition leads to enhance the tensile strength at 552 MPa of P(3HB‐co‐3HH) fiber. Wide‐angel X‐ray diffraction measurements of these fibers suggest that the fibers with high tensile strength include much amount of the planer‐zigzag conformation (β‐form) as molecular conformation together with 21 helix conformation (α‐form). © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. As companies move increasingly toward text-based computer-mediated communications (CMC) for providing customer service, they tend to lose out on the social presence of a live agent interacting in person or via the telephone. Given the importance of social presence for maintaining healthy customer relations, how can companies counter the relative lack of social presence in CMC? Increasing the synchronicity of communications is one solution, but it is not always possible to provide instant responses to customers. In such cases, can a richer modality (e.g., picture of the customer-service agent) make up for diminished synchronicity and thereby enhance social presence? We addressed these questions with a 3 [synchronicity: high (no delay in response time) vs. medium (1-h delay) vs. low (6-h delay)] × 3 [modality: text-only vs. text+picture vs. text+emoticon] ful factorial, between-subjects experiment in which participants (N = 108) interacted with a customer service agent in a mobile e-commerce context. Data reveal that participants in high synchronicity and text+emoticon conditions felt higher social presence and perceived the customer service agent more positively than those in other conditions. Social presence and task impression mediated the relationship between each independent variable and their evaluations of the customer service agent. 相似文献

Driven by the phenomenon of increasing irritations and allergic reactions of dental prosthesis carriers preferably due to residual methyl methacrylate monomer in conventional dental materials, autopolymerizing hypoallergenic denture base polymers were prepared as two‐component materials in the shape of paste/paste‐ or powder/liquid systems. The processing behavior of these materials was investigated regarding the processing and solidification times also in dependence on the polymerization catalyst concentration, whereas the whole processing and curing characteristics and the final polymer properties were evaluated by dynamic mechanical analysis in shear mode in the temperature range from ?145°C to 200°C. The mechanical properties of the hypoallergenic denture base polymers were validated regarding stiffness (flexural modulus E') and fracture toughness (maximum factor of loading intensity , total work of fracture ) and the effects of monomer composition, kind of resin powder, impact modification by the liquid component, and water immersion on these properties were investigated. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The dielectric properties of two grades of bi‐oriented isotactic polypropylene were studied with a variety of techniques: breakdown field measurements, dielectric spectroscopy, thermally stimulated depolarization currents (Is), and direct‐current (dc) conduction I values. Standard polypropylene (STPP) and high‐crystallinity polypropylene (HCPP) films were investigated. Measurements were carried out over a wide temperature range (?150°C/+125°C). The breakdown fields in both materials showed a very small difference. On the other hand, the dielectric losses and dc conduction I values were significantly lower in HCPP. Both materials showed a decrease in the dielectric loss versus temperature in the range 20–90°C; this is favorable for application in alternating‐current power capacitors. The analysis of the dc I value allowed us to find evidence of two main conduction mechanisms: (1) below 80°C in both materials, a hopping mechanism due to the motion of electrons occurred in the amorphous phase, and (2) above 80°C, ionic conduction occurred in HCPP, and hopping conduction occurred in STPP. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Epoxide‐terminated hyperbranched polyether sulphone as triple enhancement modifier for DGEBA 下载免费PDF全文
Epoxide‐terminated hyperbranched polyether sulphones (EHBPESs) with different backbone structures were synthesized and used as tougheners for diglycidyl ether of bisphenol‐A (DGEBA) curing system, which result in nonphase‐separated cured networks. Effects of backbone structure (at comparable degree of polymerization) and loading contents on the mechanical and thermal properties of cured hybrids were investigated. The hybrid containing EHBPES3, which has the most flexible backbone, shows the best mechanical performance and highest glass transition temperature (Tg). Compared with unmodified system, the impact strength, tensile strength, elongation at break of the hybrid containing 5% EHBPES3 increased by 69.8%, 9.4%, and 60.2%, respectively. The balanced improvements were attributed to the increased crosslink density and fractional free volume as well as the unique inhomogeneous network structure because of incorporation of hyperbranched modifiers with proper structure and loading contents. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
