Cu?diamond composites have been proposed as a candidate thermal management material for spacecraft electronics. Nevertheless, irradiation effects on the composites remain poorly understood at present. Here we focus on investigating the influence of Cu?diamond interfaces (CDIs) on energetic displacement cascades using atomistic simulations. Results show that a primary knock-on atom of Cu (PKA-Cu) can induce more significant damage than a PKA-C. Under almost all circumstances, the statistically averaged fraction of surviving interstitials is not only lower than that of vacancies but also no more than 1. Because of the unique nature in the mobility and interactions with CDIs, Cu interstitials exhibit the lowest concentration among all defects in most cases. The high residual rate of displaced defects in diamond makes it relatively difficult to heal. The structural damage is mainly manifested in a short-range disorder of diamond and a long-range disorder of Cu after irradiation. At elevated temperatures, the atomic displacement region may form compact chain-like defects to restrain lattice loosening. Despite the above, CDIs could act as effective sinks to facilitate the recombination and/or annihilation of irradiation-induced defects in all scenarios. PurposeTo investigate the relationship between the real contact lens imprint into the conjunctival tissue, observed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and conjunctival staining and contact lens wearing comfort.Methods17 participants (mean age = 26.6 SD ± 3.6 years; 7 females) were fitted with three different contact lenses base curves of the same silicone hydrogel custom lens type (Visell 50; Hecht Contactlinsen, Au, Germany) in a randomised order. One lens was optimally fitted according to the manufacturer's recommendation, one fitted 0.4 mm flatter and one fitted 0.4 mm steeper. After 4 h of lens wear the contact lens edge in the area of the conjunctiva was imaged nasally and temporally using OCT (Optovue iVue SD-OCT). To correct the artefact due to optical distortion with OCT, the imprint of all worn lenses was measured on a glass plate afterwards. Conjunctival staining in the limbal region after 4 h of lens wear was classified using the CCLRU Grading Scale. Comfort scoring was based on visual analog scales from 0 (very poor) to 100 (excellent).ResultsThe mean conjunctival imprint of all contact lens edges was 32.0 ± 8.1 μm before and 7.3 ± 6.5 μm after distortion correction of the OCT images. The distortion corrected conjunctival imprint with the 0.4 mm steeper lens (11.5 ± 6.2 μm) was statistically significantly greater compared to the optimally fitted lens (6.5 ± 5.9 μm) (One-way ANOVA followed Tukey-test; p = 0.017) and greater compared to the 0.4 mm flatter lens (3.9 ± 5.3 μm) (p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the optimally fitted lens and the 0.4 mm flatter lens (p = 0.209). The nasally measured imprint (11.4 ± 9.0 μm) was significantly greater than the temporally measured (3.3 ± 7.6 μm) (p < 0.001). There was no statistically significant correlation between the amount of conjunctival imprint and the graded conjunctival staining (p = 0.346) or the wearer’s comfort (p = 0.735).ConclusionsContact lens edges imaged by OCT exhibited displacement artefacts. The observed conjunctival imprints are a combination of real conjunctival compression and artefacts. A deeper imprint of the contact lens into the conjunctiva caused by a steeper base curve was not related to clinically significant staining or changes in comfort after 4 h of lens wear. The observed differences between nasal and temporal imprint are likely to be caused by variations of conjunctival thickness and the shape of the underlying sclera. 相似文献

The ability of landscape architectural projects to mitigate the worst effects of climate change will depend upon designed ecological systems. These systems will be built with plants. Despite the recognition of ecology as an essential driver of landscapes, the professionals of landscape architecture too often lack the knowledge and practical skills to create robust vegetative systems. New approaches and tools are required. This article outlines principles and methods for designing biodiverse plant systems for urban sites. Planting methods that increase species richness, functional diversity, and spatial complexity are emphasized as a way of developing more resilient plantings. Selecting species with similar evolutionary adaptions to stress, disturbance, and competition—as well as creating multi-layered compositions of diverse plant morphologies—allows designers to create compatible, long-lived plant mixes. To balance the increased visual complexity of diverse plant mixes, the article explores design techniques to make plantings more appealing to the public. The strategies explored here are based on the projects, experience, and research of Phyto Studio, a Washington, D.C. based studio. 选取合理的采掘破碎工艺参数和喷嘴结构参数,是实现海洋天然气水合物(以下简称水合物)藏固态流化商业化采掘的关键之一。为了分析实际工程中影响水合物射流破碎效率的因素,依托室内实验和中国南海北部荔湾3站位现场试采取得的数据,以产气量12×10~4 m~3/d作为水合物商业开采目标,采用k—ε湍流模型开展了不同喷嘴直径、泵压等参数情况的仿真模拟分析。研究结果表明:(1)确定了水合物射流破碎临界速度为24 m/s时的喷嘴直径、泵压、排量关系曲线;(2)满足商业开采的单日水合物沉积物采掘量的破碎速度为2.48 m~3/min,其所对应的射流破碎孔径为800mm;(3)在喷嘴直径确定的情况下,直接提升射流排量和泵压会对工艺流程中其他零部件造成一定的损害。结论认为,所优选出的海洋非成岩水合物藏固态流化商业化采掘破碎的设计参数,为固态流化开采水合物破碎参数的优化设计提供了帮助。 相似文献

The persistent overrepresentation of young drivers in road crashes is universally recognised. A multitude of factors influencing their behaviour and safety have been identified through methods including crash analyses, simulated and naturalistic driving studies, and self-report measures. Across the globe numerous, diverse, countermeasures have been implemented; the design of the vast majority of these has been informed by a driver-centric approach. An alternative approach gaining popularity in transport safety is the systems approach which considers not only the characteristics of the individual, but also the decisions and actions of other actors within the road transport system, along with the interactions amongst them. This paper argues that for substantial improvements to be made in young driver road safety, what has been learnt from driver-centric research needs to be integrated into a systems approach, thus providing a holistic appraisal of the young driver road safety problem. While creativity is essential for developing students’ broad expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, many students struggle with various aspects of being creative. Digital technologies have the unique opportunity to support the creative process by (1) recognizing elements of students’ creativity, such as when creativity is lacking (modeling step), and (2) providing tailored scaffolding based on that information (intervention step). However, to date little work exists on either of these aspects. Here, we focus on the modeling step. Specifically, we explore the utility of various sensing devices, including an eye tracker, a skin conductance bracelet, and an EEG sensor, for modeling creativity during an educational activity, namely geometry proof generation. We found reliable differences in sensor features characterizing low vs. high creativity students. We then applied machine learning to build classifiers that achieved good accuracy in distinguishing these two student groups, providing evidence that sensor features are valuable for modeling creativity. 相似文献

The displacement chromatography technique with a tri-column system was used to reduce the protium (H) in the deuterium-tritium (D-T) mixture, and the separation performance was studied numerically by ANSYS FLUENT. The experimental results showed that the isotopic abundance of H in the D-T mixture dropped from 2.7% to an acceptable level of 0.88%. The simulation results showed that a lower porosity (θ) of the filling material made a higher separation factor, but a lower separation efficiency. The velocity of the product gas at the outlet of the separation column approximately had a linear relationship with θ5/3/(1-θ)2, which partly indicated the pore diffusion resistance. The mixed gas could contact the filling materials more sufficiently under a lower flow rate resulting in a lower protium concentration in the product gas. The separation column with a thin and long shape had a better separation performance and a lower product gas loss. 相似文献

为了避免露天金属矿爆破后导致爆堆边缘矿石品位贫化损失,需要根据最低品位阈值重新计算矿岩边界,而影响矿岩边界发生改变因素众多,需要确定主要影响因素。因此,利用爆堆爆破前地形方向和爆堆地质数据,构建灰色关联-广义回归神经网络模型(GRA-GRNN)分析爆堆矿岩边界变化主要影响因素。首先对爆堆钻孔品位数据使用析取克里金法进行空间插值,并根据矿山工艺最低品位阈值提取爆破前的矿岩边界;其次,将爆破前后的数字DEM模型进行求差,求得爆破后的爆堆数字DEM模型,并构建爆破前后爆堆数字DEM模型空间分布椭圆,从而确定爆堆爆破后的水平形变方向;对影响爆堆爆破后形变的可能因素进行提取,并应用GRA-GRNN模型选取主要影响因素及对其强度进行分析,并将其结果与BP神经网络模型预测结果进行了对比。从实验结果可知,影响爆堆爆破后形变强度排前三的因素为:爆破前地形方向、爆孔排距和列距,强度分别为0.880、0.760和0.755,预测结果优于BP模型。 相似文献
