Latent communities of digital publications: The role of editors,followers, and advertisers

This research explores how digital publications may be turned into something more than just a meeting point for people who are seeking information and may become a latent community. The paper proposes that the network of editors, followers, and advertisers of digital publications determine the user sense of community towards the publication. While the pattern of connections among editors and followers reinforces the sense of community, advertisers act as intruders who weaken the feasibility of building a community. Data were collected from followers of digital publications. The dynamics of the sense of community is described as a process in which informational value and identification are essential to nurturing readers’ soft or hard commitment. Findings indicate that the strong ties between editors and followers as well as the diversity positively impacts on informational value and identification, whereas advertising intrusiveness diminishes the informational value.

综览2010上海世博会出版物,并进行总体上的分类。进而将观察集中在规划建筑和城市研究领域的图书出版物上,从建筑学视野对世博主题的专业类出版物进行分析和归纳。在观察与综述基础上,反思世博出版物传播建筑文化的现状和取向,力求将对世博出版物的认识从表象进入本质,深化出版物的价值和阅读的意义。     

Measuring children's perceptions of their mother's depression: The Children’s Perceptions of Others’ Depression Scale–Mother Version.

Several theoretical perspectives suggest that knowledge of children's perceptions of and beliefs about their parents' depression may be critical for understanding its impact on children. This paper describes the development and preliminary evidence for the psychometric properties of a new measure, the Children's Perceptions of Others' Depression – Mother Version (CPOD-MV), which assesses theoretically and empirically driven constructs related to children's understanding and beliefs about their mothers' depression. These constructs include children's perceptions of the severity, chronicity, and impairment of their mothers' depression; self-blame for their mother's depression; and beliefs about their abilities to deal with their mother's depression. The CPOD-MV underwent two stages of development: (1) a review of the literature to identify key constructs, focus groups to help generate items, and clinicians' ratings on the relevance and comprehensibility of the drafted items and (2) a study of the measure's psychometric properties. The literature review, focus groups, and item-reduction techniques yielded a 21-item measure. Reliability, factor structure, and discriminant, convergent, and concurrent validity were tested in a sample of 10- to 17-year-old children whose mothers had been treated for depression. The scale had good internal consistency; factor structure suggestive of a single construct; and discriminant, concurrent, convergent, and incremental validity, suggesting the importance of measuring children's perceptions of their mothers' depression beyond knowledge of mothers' depression symptom level when explaining which children have the greatest risk for emotional and behavioral problems among children of depressed mothers. 科幻创作的小圈子和文学的大园地——从个人创作出发试谈科幻小说与儿童文学、科普文学之关系

毋庸置疑,中国科幻在重要的世界级作品《三体》出版后进入了一个全新的时期,科幻小说不再被等同于"儿童文学"和"科普文学"。但若固守一个类型文学的小圈子,显然也不利于科幻文学自身的发展。笔者尝试结合个人15年科幻创作的体会,浅谈科幻小说作为类型文学,如何寻找在文学大园地中的位置,建立与儿童文学、科普文学良好的互动关系。     

The Matthew Effect in citing the papers of Russian scientists published abroad

The scientificometric aspect of the “Matthews Effect,” i.e., the difference in the citations of the papers of Russian and foreign scientists published in the same publications, is studied. Publications in foreign journals on physics and chemistry are considered. The “Matthew Index,” which characterizes nonuniform distribution of citations over countries, is calculated. A conclusion on the poor “competitiveness” of Russian articles in chemistry and inadequate conformance of publications in physics to the world level is made.

儿童是儿童学创作的出发点和归结点，成人审美意识和儿童审美的协调和融合是儿童学创作的关键，创作过程应使两种意识在主导与能动、隐含与外显的关系协调中不断走向融合，提升儿童学审美情趣。     

An assessment of systems and software engineering scholars and institutions (2002-2006)

This paper summarizes a survey of publications in the field of systems and software engineering from 2002 to 2006. The survey is an ongoing, annual event that identifies the top 15 scholars and institutions over a 5-year period. The rankings are calculated based on the number of papers published in TSE, TOSEM, JSS, SPE, EMSE, IST, and Software. The top-ranked institution is Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea, and the top-ranked scholar is Magne Jørgensen of Simula Research Laboratory, Norway.
