INHIBITION OF BEER-SPOILAGE LACTIC ACID BACTERIA BY NISIN

149 strains of bacteria, mostly brewery contaminants able to spoil wort or beer, and 12 brewing strains of yeast (8 ale and 4 lager strains) have been screened using a well-test assay for sensitivity to the food preservative, Nisin (E234), Nisin inhibited growth of 92% of the gram-positive strains, predominantly lactic acid bacteria of the genera Lactobacillus and Pediococcus. In contrast, all 32 gram-negative strains tested, except 3 Flavobacter strains, were Nisin-resistant; in addition none of the brewing yeasts showed Nisin-sensitivity. Therefore. Nisin has potential applications in preventing spoilage of worts or beers by lactic acid bacteria.     

Properties of paper coated with kaolin: The influence of the rheological modifier

The first part of this paper analyses the influence of the molecular weight and concentration of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and of kaolin concentration on rheology of the coating colours and on paper properties coated with ultra lightweight coatings (ULWC). In the second part, relationships between the rheological characteristics of the coating colour formulations and coated paper surface quality was also studied.New indexes on paper roughness at micro-scale are presented (RZI and SRI). In general, they show good correlation with sheet gloss. A new gloss index (SGI) is presented, accounting for the contribution of gloss from machine direction (MD) and cross direction (CD). Porosimetry was used to access microstructural characteristics in order to correlate them with light scattering and gloss properties. The former property is closely related to Hg intrusion volume of the coated layer while gloss is related to surface porosity with pore diameters in the range of 7–15 μm as measured by Hg intrusion volume.

采用反相高效液相色谱法测定化妆品中山梨酸、苯甲酸、对羟基苯甲酸甲酯、对羟基苯甲酸乙酯、对羟基苯甲酸丙酯和对羟基苯甲酸丁酯等6种防腐剂,用ZorbaxODS(5μm,4 6mmi d ×150mm)柱,V(磷酸二氢钾)∶V(乙腈)为90∶10作流动相,加入磷酸调pH值为2 0,检测波长为254nm。样品用乙醇-水-冰乙酸(体积比为70∶29 5∶0 5)提取,回收率为90 8%～105 7%,相对标准偏差为3 1%～8 5%。     

2013年全球天文学天体物理学SCI论文的计量分析

本文对2013年全球发表的天文学天体物理学SCI论文进行了计量分析。结果表明,美国和法国国家科研中心分别是发文最多的国家和机构,而加拿大和史密森尼学会的论文相对引文影响指标最高,中国和俄罗斯以及中国科学院和俄罗斯科学院的论文引文影响力低于世界平均水平。此外,天文学天体物理学领域的基金资助机构以各类科学基金会、国家政府部门和国立科研机构为主。美国是提供基金资助最多的国家,其中又以美国国家科学基金会和国家航空航天局为主。     

Correlation of direct piezoelectric effect on EAPap under ambient factors

Direct piezoelectricity of electro-active papers(EAPap)is analysed in this paper. The test setups for direct effect are designed and determined. Different ambient factors impacting the piezoelectricity of EAPap, such as temperature, humidity, and strain rate, are applied and analyzed. Strong piezoelectricity of EAPap is found on the basis of the test results and in comparison with polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)and lead zirconate titanate(PZT)-5H. The maximum piezoelectric constant is achieved to be 504 pC/N. The reason of strong piezoelectricity of EAPap is discussed in this paper. The potential of EAPap as a biomimetic actuator and sensor is also investigated.
