The heterogeneous catalysis of transesterification of gmelina seed oil to biodiesel is evaluated. The oil was extracted from the seeds with n‐hexane by solvent extraction and characterized to determine its physiochemical properties. Response surface methodology was applied to optimize the effect of process variables on the biodiesel yield. The base‐activated clay catalyst performed as montmorillonite clay with the characteristic property of a Brønsted acid. It has an improved surface area after activation that enhanced its catalytic activity on transesterification reaction. Under optimal conditions, the biodiesel yield was 70.1 %, thus demonstrating that the model predicted well the biodiesel production.  相似文献

This study investigated the distance effect on water reduction by the wicking geotextile in a base course experimentally using three sets of soil column tests. In each set of tests, two soil columns were constructed by compacting well-graded aggregate over a non-wicking woven geotextile and a wicking geotextile. A portion of the geotextile specimen was extended outside of the soil column for evaporation. The changes of the water contents in the soil column were monitored by volumetric water content sensors installed at various depths. The experimental results indicate the capillary drainage by the wicking geotextile effectively reduced water content within the soil column up to a distance from the wicking geotextile (i.e., approximately 200 mm for this specific aggregate with 10% fines). The test results also show that the wicking geotextile could reduce more water content of the aggregate below its optimum water content at a faster rate than the non-wicking geotextile.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the long and short-run relationship between spot and futures prices of the energy, precious metals, and base metals markets. We analyze daily data from January 1985 to February 2019. The empirical findings based on the cointegration test, which follows a nonlinear process, suggest that the spot prices of energy and metals assets have long-run relationships with their futures prices. Nonparametric Granger causality test results also indicate bi-directional causality among futures and spot prices. These findings indicate that the energy and metals markets are informationally efficient in the sense of Fama (1970).  相似文献

Li–Al–B–Si–O (LABS) glass-ceramics with a sintering temperature of 600 °C were studied for ultra-low temperature co-fired ceramics (ULTCC) applications. The crystal phase of LABS glass-ceramics is dendritic β-spodumene. The permittivity and dielectric loss of LABS glass-ceramics are εr = 5.8 and tgδ = 1.3 × 10−3 at 10 MHz, respectively. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of LABS glass-ceramics is 3.23 ppm/°C, which is close to that of silicon. The dielectric and thermal properties of LABS glass-ceramics are closely correlated to the degree of its crystallization. The permittivity decreases continually while the dielectric loss decreases first and slightly increases with the increasing of crystallization of β-spodumene. The CTE of LABS glass-ceramics decreases as β-spodumene crystallized from LABS glass. The crystallization kinetic and mechanism of LABS glass-ceramics indicate that the β-spodumene crystallizes in a two-dimensional interfacial growth mechanism due to the migration of Li-ions. The diffusion coefficients derived from energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results indicated that both Al and Ag electrodes have good compatibilities with ULTCC tapes, which could reduce the cost of multilayer electro-ceramic devices dramatically by using the ULTCC and base metallization.  相似文献

A dense heterogeneous cellular network can effectively increase the system capacity and enhance the network coverage. It is a key technology for the new generation of the mobile communication system. The dense deployment of small base stations not only improves the quality of network service, but also brings about a significant increase in network energy consumption. This paper mainly studies the energy efficiency optimization of the Macro-Femto heterogeneous cellular network. Considering the dynamic random changes of the access users in the network, the sleep process of the Femto Base Stations (FBSs) is modeled as a Semi-Markov Decision Process (SMDP) model in order to save the network energy consumption. And further, this paper gives the dynamic sleep algorithm of the FBS based on the value iteration. The simulation results show that the proposed SMDP-based adaptive sleep strategy of the FBS can effectively reduce the network energy consumption.  相似文献

The effects of Sr2+ substitution for Ba2+ on microwave dielectric properties and crystal structure of Ba3-xSrx(VO4)2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 3, BSVO) solid solution were investigated. Such Sr2+ substitution contributes to significant reduction in sintering temperature from 1400 °C to 1150 °C. Both permittivity (r) and quality factor (Q × f) values decreased with increasing x value, which was determined to be related with the descending values of average polarizability and packing fraction, whereas the increase in τf value was explained by the decreased average VO bond length, A-site bond valence. BSVO ceramics possessed encouraging dielectric performances with r = 12.2–15.6 ± 0.1, Q × f = 44,340 - 62,000 ± 800 GHz, and τf = 24.5–64.5 ± 0.2 ppm/°C. Low-temperature sintering was manipulated by adding B2O3 as sintering additive for the representative Sr3V2O8 (SVO) ceramic and only 1 wt.% B2O3 addition successfully contributed to a 21.7% decrease in sintering temperature to 900 °C, showing good chemical compatibility with silver electrodes, which render BSVO series and SVO ceramics potential candidates in multilayer electronic devices fabrication.  相似文献

The present study has been carried out to optimize the shape of the cone body by providing a curved surface (the radius of curvature (R)) at the base of the cone element for improving the performance of the V-cone flowmeter using CFD. Radii of curvature of 20 mm (hemispherical, R/d = 0.5), 22 mm (R/d = 0.55) 25 mm (R/d = 0.625) and 27.62 mm (R/d = 0.6905) are taken in order to gradually reduce the arc length keeping the chord length constant. In addition a semi-elliptical based cone with 20 mm semi-major axis and10 mm semi-minor axis has also been investigated in the present study. The centre of the spheres and ellipse lie on the axis either in the frustum or cylindrical part of the cone. The equivalent diameter ratio (β) has been taken as 0.6 while three different fore-vertex angles (φ) namely 60°, 75° and 90° have been investigated. The Reynolds number has been varied in the range of 1 × 103 to 1 × 106. The results have been compared with the slant surface based cone. It is seen that introduction of a curved surface at the cone base has profound effect on the coefficient of discharge of the V-cone flowmeter. The coefficient of discharge is dependent on Reynolds number for the flowmeter with hemispherical and semi-elliptical based cone element. The coefficient of discharge is seen to be a weak function of Reynolds number for Re = 4000 and beyond for the other three curvatures. The cone flowmeter with a curved base cone of R/d equals to 0.55 has higher coefficient of discharge and smaller standard deviation compared to a device with an aft vertex cone.  相似文献

This paper presents a probabilistic limit state framework for the evaluation of the base resistance of drilled shafts in soft rock. In situ load tests and the Griffith fracture theory are used to evaluate the mode of failure for the rock mass under the drilled shaft base. The base resistance or the limit state in the context of this paper is defined by the contact pressure at which load induced vertical to subvertical cracks form and the contact pressure-displacement relationship passes into a steep and fairly straight tangent. The parameters affecting the base resistance are evaluated using an in situ load test database. A statistical approach using the maximum likelihood method is utilized for the development of the design model for the base resistance. Reliability analysis is used to calibrate the corresponding resistance factors. The in situ load tests and the Griffith fracture theory suggest that the soft rock mass underlying the drilled shaft base primarily fails by the formation of vertical to subvertical cracks. Field observations indicate that the displacements in the underlying rock mass are largely in the vertical direction and that the base displacements required to mobilize the proposed base resistance are generally less than 30 mm. Load test data show that the base resistance is chiefly related to the unconfined compressive strength of soft rock. The calculated resistance factors are found to slightly decrease with increase in the span length of the structure and increase with the increase in the foundation redundancy.  相似文献
