Barrier dysfunction of airway epithelium contributes to the development of allergies, airway hyper-responsiveness and immunological respiratory diseases. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) enhance and restore the barrier function of the intestinal epithelium. This study investigated whether acetate, propionate and butyrate enhance the integrity of bronchial epithelial cells. Differentiating human bronchial epithelial cells (16HBE) grown on transwells were exposed to butyrate, propionate and acetate while trans-epithelial electrical resistance was monitored over time. Restorative effects of SCFA were investigated by subsequent incubation of cells with IL-4, IL-13 or house dust mite extract and SCFA. SCFA effects on IL-4-induced cytokine production and the expression of zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) and Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) signalling pathways were investigated by ELISA and Western blot assays. Propionate and butyrate enhanced the barrier function of differentiating 16HBE cells and induced complete recovery of the barrier function after exposure to the above-mentioned stimuli. Butyrate decreased IL-4-induced IL-6 production. IL-4 decreased ZO-1 protein expression and induced phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2) and c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) in 16HBE cells, both of which could be restored by SCFA. SCFA showed prophylactic and restorative effects on airway epithelial barrier function, which might be induced by increased ZO-1 expression. 相似文献

Possibility of formation of quinary and senary equimolar high entropy oxides from the Co-Cr-Fe-Mg-Mn-Ni-O system is presented. Different proposed compositions are synthesized using the solid-state reaction route at high temperatures (900−1100 °C) and quenched to room temperature. Phase composition of the samples is studied, showing tendency toward formation of two main phases: rock salt-structured Fm-3 m and spinel-structured Fd-3 m. It is documented that the annealing temperature has a profound effect on stability of both structures, and at 1100 °C usually the highest content of Fm-3 m phase is usually observed. Three different oxides, namely, (Co,Cr,Fe,Mn,Ni)3O4, (Co,Cr,Fe,Mg,Mn)3O4 and (Cr,Fe,Mg,Mn,Ni)3O4 are obtained as single-phase materials, which structure can be described as the high entropy Fd-3 m spinel one. The latter two compounds have not been previously reported in the literature. Activated character of the electrical conductivity dependence on temperature is observed, with relatively high total conductivity at high temperatures and corresponding high absolute values of Seebeck coefficient. 相似文献

Solid polymer electrolytes provide high safety and good electrochemical stability in solid-state lithium batteries (SSLBs) compared with conventional liquid electrolytes. In this work, a novel solid polymer composite electrolyte based on poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) filled with rod-like Zn2(OH)BO3 particles was prepared by a grinding process followed with a heating treatment process and a cold pressing process. The effect of the incorporation amount of rod-like Zn2(OH)BO3 particles on the ionic conductivity was investigated systemically. It is found that 10 mol% of rod-like Zn2(OH)BO3 particles addition resulted in a highest ionic conductivity of 2.78 × 10−5 at 30 °C and the improved ionic conductivity was considered to be caused by the reducing of PEO crystallinity and the increasing of Li ion migrating pathway on the interface between the Zn2(OH)BO3 and PEO. In addition, the optimum composite electrolyte exhibited a high electrochemical stability window of 4.51 V (vs. Li/Li+), good lithium stability and excellent thermal stability. 相似文献

We present an interactive material acquisition system for average users to capture the spatially varying appearance of daily objects. While an object is being scanned, our system estimates its appearance on‐the‐fly and provides quick visual feedback. We build the system entirely on low‐end, off‐the‐shelf components: a Kinect sensor, a mirror ball and printed markers. We exploit the Kinect infra‐red emitter/receiver, originally designed for depth computation, as an active hand‐held reflectometer, to segment the object into clusters of similar specular materials and estimate the roughness parameters of BRDFs simultaneously. Next, the diffuse albedo and specular intensity of the spatially varying materials are rapidly computed in an inverse rendering framework, using data from the Kinect RGB camera. We model developable surfaces by wrapping a planar figure around cones and cylinders. Complicated developables can be constructed by successive mappings using cones and cylinders of different sizes and shapes. We also propose an intuitive control mechanism, which allows a user to select an arbitrary point on the planar figure and move it to a new position. Numerical techniques are then used to find a cone or cylinder that produces the required mapping. Several examples demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique. 相似文献
