This paper proposes a novel approach centered on multimedia internetworking for the development of Distributed Virtual Instruments (DVI). Multimedia internetworking refers to network infrastructures, protocols, models, applications and techniques being currently deployed over the Internet to support multimedia applications, e.g., videoconferencing, video-on-demand, shared workspaces. It is applied to broaden the concept of virtual instrument and enable new measurement patterns leveraging efficiency and interactivity. A DVI is a virtual instrument split into possibly multiple and independent parts, sender and receiver, which are linked by real-time continuous media and control streams. Senders and receivers are built by using open, composable and modular components based on a time sensitive actor framework and glued by multimedia middleware. A prototype is described to demonstrate the potential and the benefits of the proposed approach.  相似文献

Wireless LAN has been widely considered for wireless broadbandnetworks with low mobility, which can be generally considered as amatching part for future all-IP cellular networking. This scenarioimposes challenges on providing seamless services among differentnetworks. In this paper, we propose the architecture ofinternetworking between HIPERLAN/2 and UMTS networks. Theframework of the integrated system is proposed and analyzed toevaluate the system performance in terms of scheduling andadmission control. The acceptance of new text communication services depends, in part, on whether interworking is possible with other existing or future services. The features of these services are basically determined by their communications protocols. Interworking is to be implemented by automatic facilities located in, or at the boundaries of, the telecommunications networks supporting the services. Aspects of these facilities, known as converters, include centralized versus decentralized siting and implementation, and the mode of operation. In addition, another factor influencing the functions carried out by the converters is the type of interworking. The interworking between the teletex and telex services is discussed as an example.  相似文献

The combination of local area networks and microcomputers has led to increased interest in distributed systems architecture. The advent of wide area networks has brought about many studies into distributed databases, large computers and distributed resources. The paper discusses the evolution of distributed systems, the driving forces at work in the market and the consequences of advances in the technology. 随着数据流量的不断增长及其高突发性,基于SDH技术的传送网逐渐显示出不可解决的劣势.下一代传送网将被基于分组的传送技术所垄断,T-MPLS是一种新的基于分组传送的技术,目前T-MPLS主要定位在城域传送网络,并逐渐向核心网络部分进行扩张.本文基于ITU-T所定义的T-MPLS框架体系结构,结合已有的基于MPLS技术的组网方式,分析了T-MPLS未来的应用前景,并给出了未来传送网络可行的演进模型.  相似文献

网络仿真技术成为目前研究网络算法﹑网络协议的一种主要手段.近年来随着网络规模的增大和复杂性的增加对网络仿真模拟器也提出了更高的要求.现有文献提出了很多方法来改进网络仿真平台以适应网络技术的发展.文中主要对一种新的网络仿真模拟器J-Sim的网络仿真原理进行了概述,并从不同的角度对NS-2和J-Sim网络仿真平台进行了对比,最后实例说明了J-Sim仿真的步骤并显示仿真结果.通过对比分析证明J-Sim是一种效率高,易于扩展的网络仿真模拟器,并通过一个实例验证.  相似文献

The technologies of IP over WDM have presently received increasing attention owing to the rapid growth in Internet traffic and the need for next-generation Internet technologies. The challenge now is how to integrate the services of IP over WDM optical networks to take full advantages of WDM technologies and IP technologies, and yield a high-throughput optical platform directly underpinning next generation data networks.
