Abstract

An alternative formulation of the scheduling problem in a robot‐centered manufacturing cell has been described here, which was originally formulated by Lin et al. [7] as a mixed integer programming problem. An efficient procedure based on the branch and bound technique has been proposed. In order to reduce the complexity of the branching procedure, several sequencing rules [4] have been imbedded into the proposed procedure and an integrated algorithm has then been presented. The computational results have indicated the proposed algorithm to be efficient. Finally, conclusions and some suggestions are given.  相似文献

With the wide application of module-shipbuilding technology, problems related to block spatial scheduling occur in various working areas, and this restricts the productivity of shipbuilding. To address the problems and to obtain the optimum block sequence and spatial layout, typical block features and work plates were investigated. A heuristic spatial scheduling model was established based on the investigation and proposed strategies with the objective to minimise makespan. With the heuristic algorithm, a block spatial scheduling system was developed and implemented with real data from a large ship. Through the spatial scheduling system, visual results of daily block layouts and progress charts for all blocks can be easily obtained and work orders can also be created for site workers. Several other spatial scheduling methods are described and compared with the above-mentioned heuristic algorithm. The result shows that the heuristic algorithm is better than Cplex and a genetic algorithm in solving large-scale block scheduling, and the heuristic algorithm is better than a grid algorithm and manual scheduling in all aspects such as makespan, utilisation of work plates, runtime of scheduling and on-time delivery. The developed block spatial scheduling system is applied in a block production shop of a modern shipyard and shows good performance.  相似文献

Grid applications with stringent security requirements introduce challenging concerns because the schedule devised by nonsecurity‐aware scheduling algorithms may suffer in scheduling security constraints tasks. To make security‐aware scheduling, estimation and quantification of security overhead is necessary. The proposed model quantifies security, in the form of security levels, on the basis of the negotiated cipher suite between task and the grid‐node and incorporates it into existing heuristics MinMin and MaxMin to make it security‐aware MinMin(SA) and MaxMin(SA). It also proposes SPMaxMin (Security Prioritized MinMin) and its comparison with three heuristics MinMin(SA), MaxMin(SA), and SPMinMin on heterogeneous grid/task environment. Extensive computer simulation results reveal that the performance of the various heuristics varies with the variation in computational and security heterogeneity. Its analysis over nine heterogeneous grid/task workload situations indicates that an algorithm that performs better for one workload degrades in another. It is conspicuous that for a particular workload one algorithm gives better makespan while another gives better response time. Finally, a security‐aware scheduling model is proposed, which adapts itself to the dynamic nature of the grid and picks the best suited algorithm among the four analyzed heuristics on the basis of job characteristics, grid characteristics, and desired performance metric. The job-shop scheduling problem (JSSP) is known to be NP-hard. Due to its complexity, many metaheuristic algorithm approaches have arisen. Ant colony metaheuristic algorithm, lately proposed, has successful application to various combinatorial optimisation problems. In this study, an ant colony optimisation algorithm with parameterised search space is developed for JSSP with an objective of minimising makespan. The problem is modelled as a disjunctive graph where arcs connect only pairs of operations related rather than all operations are connected in pairs to mitigate the increase of the spatial complexity. The proposed algorithm is compared with a multiple colony ant algorithm using 20 benchmark problems. The results show that the proposed algorithm is very accurate by generating 12 optimal solutions out of 20 benchmark problems, and mean relative errors of the proposed and the multiple colony ant algorithms to the optimal solutions are 0.93% and 1.24%, respectively.  相似文献

Minimising earliness and tardiness penalties as well as maximum completion time (makespan) simultaneously on unrelated parallel machines is tackled in this research. Jobs are sequence-dependent set-up times and due dates are distinct. Since the machines are unrelated, jobs processing time/cost on different machines may vary, i.e. each job could be processed at different processing times with regard to other machines. A mathematical model which minimises the mentioned objective is proposed which is solved optimally via lingo in small-sized cases. An intelligent water drop (IWD) algorithm, as a new swarm-based nature-inspired optimisation one, is also adopted to solve this multi-criteria problem. The IDW algorithm is inspired from natural rivers. A set of good paths among plenty of possible paths could be found via a natural river in its ways from the starting place (source) to the destination which results in eventually finding a very good path to their destination. A comprehensive computational and statistical analysis is conducted to analyse the algorithms’ performances. Experimental results reveal that the proposed hybrid IWD algorithm is a trustable and proficient one in finding very good solutions, since it is already proved that the IWD algorithm has the property of the convergence in value.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the distributed two-stage assembly flowshop scheduling problem for minimising a weighted sum of makespan and mean completion time. This problem involves two inter-dependent decision sub-problems: (1) how to allocate jobs among factories and (2) how to schedule the assigned jobs at each factory. A mathematical model is formulated for solving the small-sized instances of the problem. Since the NP-hardness of the problem, we also proposed a variable neighbourhood search (VNS) algorithm and a hybrid genetic algorithm combined with reduced variable neighbourhood search (GA-RVNS) to solve the distributed two-stage assembly flowshop scheduling problems and approximately optimise makespan and mean completion time simultaneously. Computational experiments have been conducted to compare the performances of the model and proposed algorithms. For a set of small-sized instances, both the model and the proposed algorithms are effective. The proposed algorithms are further evaluated on a set of large-sized instances. The results statistically show that both GA-RVNS and VNS obtain much better performances than the GA without RVNS-based local search step (GA-NOV). For the instances with small numbers of jobs, VNS achieves better performances than GA-RVNS. However, for the instances with large numbers of jobs, GA-RVNS yields better performances than the VNS. It is also shown that the overall performances of VNS are very close to GA-RVNS with different numbers of factories, weights given to makespan and numbers of machines at the first stage.  相似文献

This paper considers the no-wait flow shop scheduling problem with due date constraints. In the no-wait flow shop problem, waiting time is not allowed between successive operations of jobs. Moreover, a due date is associated with the completion of each job. The considered objective function is makespan. This problem is proved to be strongly NP-Hard. In this paper, a particle swarm optimisation (PSO) is developed to deal with the problem. Moreover, the effect of some dispatching rules for generating initial solutions are studied. A Taguchi-based design of experience approach has been followed to determine the effect of the different values of the parameters on the performance of the algorithm. To evaluate the performance of the proposed PSO, a large number of benchmark problems are selected from the literature and solved with different due date and penalty settings. Computational results confirm that the proposed PSO is efficient and competitive; the developed framework is able to improve many of the best-known solutions of the test problems available in the literature.  相似文献

The flexible job-shop scheduling problem (FJSP) is a generalisation of the classical job-shop scheduling problem which allows an operation of each job to be executed by any machine out of a set of available machines. FJSP consists of two sub-problems which are assigning each operation to a machine out of a set of capable machines (routing sub-problem) and sequencing the assigned operations on the machines (sequencing sub-problem). This paper proposes a variable neighbourhood search (VNS) algorithm that solves the FJSP to minimise makespan. In the process of the presented algorithm, various neighbourhood structures related to assignment and sequencing problems are used for generating neighbouring solutions. To compare our algorithm with previous ones, an extensive computational study on 181 benchmark problems has been conducted. The results obtained from the presented algorithm are quite comparable to those obtained by the best-known algorithms for FJSP.  相似文献

There is a vast literature on the problem of how to sequence products in a blocking flow shop so as to minimise makespan. It is often the case, however, that problem instances have multiple optima, and that within the set of optimal (or near optimal) solutions, other characteristics of importance vary substantially. Thus, the solution found by an approach that solely minimises makespan may be inferior to alternate solutions that have comparable makespan but superior value with regard to other criteria. In this paper, we demonstrate this by considering makespan and customer responsiveness, the potential that a sequence has for modification so as to incorporate customer order changes after production has begun. We consider the relationship between these two metrics and present computational results to show how different approaches to making trade-offs between them can change the solution characteristics substantially.  相似文献
