Eye-tracking Analysis in Landscape Perception Research: Influence of Photograph Properties and Landscape Characteristics

Abstract

The European Landscape Convention emphasises the need for public participation in landscape planning and management. This demands understanding of how people perceive and observe landscapes. This can objectively be measured using eye tracking, a system recording eye movements and fixations while observing images. In this study, 23 participants were asked to observe 90 landscape photographs, representing 18 landscape character types in Flanders (Belgium) differing in degree of openness and heterogeneity. For each landscape, five types of photographs were shown, varying in view angle. This experiment design allowed testing the effect of the landscape characteristics and photograph types on the observation pattern, measured by Eye-tracking Metrics (ETM). The results show that panoramic and detail photographs are observed differently than the other types. The degree of openness and heterogeneity also seems to exert a significant influence on the observation of the landscape.     

我国素质教育模式下的中小学校园空间设计浅析

相对于过去的应试教育,素质教育是依据人的发展和社会发展的实际需要而产生的。总体而言,目前我国中小学校园规划、建筑设计理念、设计标准是与传统教育的以“教师为中心”、“编班授课”特征相匹配的,不能完全满足素质教育的要求。要创造适合素质教育的校园环境,就必须探讨素质教育对中小学校园外部及内部空间设计过程中的促进与影响。     

大槐树文化艺术中心设计体会

以洪洞县大槐树文化艺术中心项目为例,分析了该项目在设计前期所面临的问题,依据城市文化原则、开放性原则及多样性原则,提出了"城—墙—轴—巷—院—庭"的设计思路,经分析验证,指出该设计思路有利于建筑形象的塑造,达到了建筑用地的整合和优化。

Predicting student attitudes about racial diversity and gender equity.

Under the Cog-gender heading, the SDO row should have indicated a negative correlation of -.438**, not .438**.] Factors related to attitudes about racial diversity and gender equity were examined in an ethnically diverse sample of 432 college students (167 European Americans, 83 African Americans, 81 Asian Americans, and 82 Hispanic Americans). In addition to variables of self-interest (i.e., ethnicity, gender, and political views), social ideology (i.e., social dominance orientation, right-wing authoritarianism) and personality traits (openness to experience) were uniquely predictive of attitudes about racial diversity and gender equity. Hierarchical regressions revealed that social dominance orientation most strongly predicted racial attitudes, while right-wing authoritarianism most strongly predicted gender attitudes. The relation of multicultural experiences to moral judgment and mindsets.

Multicultural experience is considered to be beneficial, but it remains a difficult construct to measure. We tested the validity of a new assessment tool, the Multicultural Experiences Questionnaire (MEQ), using an undergraduate sample (N = 164), and examined the relation of multicultural experience to moral judgment, closed-mindedness, growth, and fixed mindsets. We expected that greater multicultural experience would be related to lower levels of closed-mindedness and higher levels of moral judgment and growth mindsets. Higher MEQ scores were correlated with decreased closed-mindedness and higher moral judgment scores. In regression analyses, controlling for age and sex, higher MEQ scores positively predicted participant scores on postconventional moral judgment and growth mindsets, but negatively predicted use of less developed moral judgment and fixed mindsets. Overall, these results support the validity of the MEQ and suggest that multicultural experiences are positively linked to measures of moral judgment and growth mindsets. 略论信息时代政务公开与保密之关系

政务信息公开与保密是一对“此消彼长”的矛盾统一体。目前在处理二者关系上却不尽理想，存在诸多问题，因此研究妥善处理政务公开与保密关系显得意义重大。要正确处理好二者的关系，除了要坚持一定的原则和注意四方面的问题以外，尚需充分运用坚持与时俱进观念、紧抓保发展保安全、政务公开与保密工作以人为本、加大保密宣传教育力度、完善政务公开审核制度和保密管理制度等措施和方法。
