The microbiological and physicochemical changes of industrially fermented Halkidiki and Conservolea green table olives were determined. Samples were analysed to monitor the population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), yeasts and Enterobacteriaceae, together with changes in pH, acidity, salinity, colour, lactic acid, acetic acid and ethanol. LAB and yeast species diversity was evaluated at the beginning (1 day), middle (75 days) and final (135 days) stages of fermentation by RAPD-PCR genomic fingerprinting. Results revealed vigorous lactic acid processes as indicated by the dominance of LAB over yeasts. No Enterobacteriaceae could be detected after 30 days. Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (formerly Lactobacillus plantarum) dominated in the beginning of fermentation in both varieties. In the end, Lactiplantibacillus pentosus (formerly Lactobacillus pentosus) and Pediococcus ethanolidurans prevailed in Halkidiki and Conservolea varieties, respectively. As for yeasts, Kluyveromyces lactis/marxianus and Pichia manshurica prevailed at the onset of fermentation in Halkidiki and Conservolea varieties, whereas in the end Pichia membranifaciens dominated in both varieties.  相似文献

The specific energy consumption (SEC) for brackish water desalination by reverse osmosis membranes was studied experimentally at various operating conditions of feed salt water concentration, temperature, recovery and applied pressure without an energy recovery device. The results were compared with ideal theoretical values. Low‐pressure experiments, corresponding to domestic applications, were performed with a maximum pressure of 8 bar. The energy consumption at normal operating conditions was assessed with a maximum applied pressure of 18 bar. In either case, the recovery was kept between 0.3 and 0.8. Deviations between ideal and experimental values of SEC are pronounced and even more so at the lower pressures and the higher salinity concentrations. The present experimental data for brackish water desalination did not indicate an optimum of the SEC, although for a given feed concentration lower values were obtained at higher pressures, temperatures and recoveries. However, an empirical fit of the present data suggests that an economic optimum for the design and operation may exist at pressures up to 20 bar and recoveries up to 50%. A neural network architecture is proposed and shown to be very effective in performing lossy compression of medical images. A novel ROI-JPEG technique is introduced as the coding platform, in which the neural architecture adaptively selects regions of interest (ROI) in the images. By letting the selected ROI be coded with high quality, in contrast to the rest of image areas, high compression ratios are achieved, while retaining the significant (from medical point of view) image content. The performance of the method is illustrated by means of experimental results in real life problems taken from pathology and telemedicine applications  相似文献

This paper employs a local information, nearest neighbour forecasting methodology to test for evidence of nonlinearity in financial time series. Evidence from well-known data generating process are provided and compared with returns from the Athens stock exchange given the in-sample evidence of nonlinear dynamics that has appeared in the literature. Nearest neighbour forecasts fail to produce more accurate forecasts from a simple AR model. This does not substantiate the presence of in-sample nonlinearity in the series.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problematic of development methodologies for organisational information systems and especially with their application to business systems. Historically, information systems development methodologies tend to fail, because either they take the organisational purposefulness for granted, or they do not analyse it thoroughly. This paper's position is that the analysis, and the definition or redefinition of the systemic purpose are regarded as the utmost expression of the system's purposefulness. This is to be achieved by ensuring the participation of all the stakeholders who affect, or are affected by, a particular business system's operations. The nature of participation, defined as a process of the stakeholders' perceptual exchanges, is deemed to be problematic in itself, due to the influence exerted upon it by organisational power, coercion and false consciousness. The paper highlights the philosophical reasons for the failures of information systems development methodologies, and provides a conceptual solution to this problematic as well as a strategy for the development of intrinsically motivated organisational information systems. The intrinsically motivated information systems methodology outlined here (BSPA) is intended to yield organisational information systems that demonstrably improve co-ordination of organisational activities, by enabling the development and maintenance of a single/multifaceted view of purpose throughout organisations.  相似文献

Rendering scenes with overlapping transparent faces is challenging for several reasons, including sorting geometry, managing multiple per-pixel fragments, and compositing. These questions have been solved for local rendering previously, for example by order-independent transparency approaches like Depth Peeling or A-buffer implementations. We discuss order-independent transparency algorithms in context of distributed rendering for large data sets or simulations which by design split the work load among a number of computation nodes. Furthermore, we evaluate a per-pixel linked list approach for distributed mesh rendering and multi-variant analysis of molecule data sets.  相似文献

During a gear mesh cycle, load, rolling and sliding velocities, curvature, and temperature change rapidly. In this paper, a transient, thermo‐elastohydrodynamic lubrication model is presented that has been used to study the lubrication parameters at 250 contact points along the path of a contact. The working flanks were assumed to be smooth. The line load was calculated at every contact point, using the finite‐element method. Dynamic loading was not considered. The steady‐state temperature field of the working flanks was used to obtain the surface temperature at the inlet of each contact point, determined by an experimental‐analytical method presented previously. In this model, the lubricant is considered to follow the Ree‐Eyring constitutive equation. The influences of both pressure and temperature on density, thermal conductivity, and specific heat of the lubricant are also taken into account. Results are presented for an FZG type A gear pair lubricated with an FVA No. 4 reference oil; these include film shape, pressure and temperature distributions, as well as friction coefficient.  相似文献

The pseudotetrasaccharide acarbose, previously known as a potent inhibitor of intestinal alpha-glucoside hydrolases, was investigated with regard to its influence on islet lysosomal enzyme activities and the insulin secretory processes. We observed that acarbose was a potent inhibitor of mouse islet lysosomal acid glucan-1,4-alpha-glucosidase activity, EC50 approximately 5 mumol/l, as well as of acid alpha-glucosidase activity. In contrast, acarbose did not influence other lysosomal enzyme activities such as acid phosphatase and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase. Neutral alpha-glucosidase (endoplasmic reticulum) was only moderately inhibited in homogenate and was unaffected in intact islets. Incubation of isolated mouse islets with acarbose revealed that the pseudotetrasaccharide was a strong inhibitor of glucose-induced insulin secretion, EC50 approximately 500 nmol/l, and a significant inhibition was already observed at a concentration of acarbose as low as 100 nmol/l. The acarbose analogue maltotetrose did not influence either glucose-induced insulin release or islet lysosomal enzyme activities. Further, acarbose as well as two other alpha-glucoside hydrolase inhibitors, the deoxynojirimycin derivatives miglitol and emiglitate, did not affect islet glucose oxidation at low or high glucose levels. Acarbose also inhibited insulin release induced by the sulfonylurea glibenclamide, whereas insulin secretion stimulated by the cholinergic muscarinic agonist carbachol or the phosphodiesterase inhibitor isobutylmethylxanthine was unaffected by the drug. Moreover, complementary in vivo experiments showed that pretreatment of mice with acarbose to allow for endocytosis of the compound markedly suppressed the insulin secretory response to an intravenous glucose load.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献
