Gaze-control enables people to control a computer by using eye-gaze to select items on screen. Gaze-control is a necessity for people who have lost all motor control of their body and only have control over eye movements. In addition, gaze-control can be the quickest and least tiring option for a far broader group of people with varying disabilities. This paper reports findings from gaze-control user trials involving users from both groups: people who are totally paralyzed, as well as people with a wide range of complex disabilities. The trials conducted involved four different centres supporting people with disabilities in three different European countries. Several gaze-control systems were trialled by a large number of users with varying needs and abilities. The perceived benefits of gaze-control are described, and recommendations for successful assessment and implementation of gaze-control are provided.  相似文献

In this research paper, hard machining of two materials viz. AISI 52100 (bearing steel) and AISI D2 (tool steel) at a hardness of 55?HRC is addressed. Taguchi’s technique is used for the design of experiments. Eight different parameters are considered for the experimentation in order to perform comprehensive investigations on hard machining process. Case-based reasoning (CBR) model is developed for predicting the machining performance and its capability is evaluated by conducting validation experiments. The root mean squared error, mean absolute percentage error, and the correlation coefficient between the actual and the model-predicted values of surface roughness and tool life are evaluated to confirm the validity of the CBR model.  相似文献

Examination of the range and limits of cognitive developmental reserve capacity (plasticity) by means of cognitive training has been proffered as a promising diagnostic strategy for the early identification of Alzheimer's disease. Previous findings of differential gains after cognitive training for healthy older persons and older persons at risk for dementia were supported, rendering cognitive plasticity a criterion by which the overlap in performance distributions between healthy older persons and older persons at risk can be reduced. Stepwise hierarchical regression analyses demonstrated that posttraining scores, which represented developmental reserve capacity, explained significantly more variance in mental health status than pretest or baseline performance. Older persons at risk profited significantly less from training in 2 components of fluid intelligence, figural relations, and inductive reasoning. The authors discuss the possibilities of turning this testing-the-limits procedure into an instrument for screening purposes in clinical practice. Objective

This study aimed to identify subtypes of young moped drivers and analyze how these subtypes are involved in risk preferences and road crashes.

Design

A group of Austrian teenage moped drivers (213, 28% girls) completed an online questionnaire about moped usage, injuries, driving style, inattention, impulsivity, and personality according to the Five-Factor Model of Personality and Cloninger's model of personality.

Results

A cluster analysis yielded four types of moped drivers. One type was characterized by a high level of neuroticism, the second type was characterized by a risky personality and a risky driving style, the third type had a more cautious driving style, and the fourth type was characterized by a risky personality and high levels on inattention and impulsivity.

Conclusions

Our conclusions suggest that young moped drivers should not be perceived as a homogenous group, according to measures of injury prevention and intervention.  相似文献

In an observational-operant design study with 17 staff members and 36 elderly nursing home residents, sequential observations of resident–staff interactions were recorded daily during morning care over a 23-day period. Results suggest that independent behavior in self-maintenance care is not maintained by staff behavior but perhaps by intrinsic reinforcers or reinforcing agents other than staff, whereas dependent behavior is directly maintained by staff reinforcement. Recently, tremendous growth of web services to share the program, data and resources requires the optimal recommendation strategy. The major issues observed in existing recommendation strategies are scalability, sparsity and the cold start. The employment of matrix factorization (MF) models addressed all the issues effectively. But, they increase the scalability of the system. This paper proposes the new framework that contains web service grouping, distance estimation, service utilization level estimation and the item-to-item comparison (Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC)) to improve the recommendation performance. The grouping of users according to the Haversine distance formulation to reduce the complexity in the relevant web service recommendation against the complex queries. The locations and the fields in the services utilization in proposed work provide the effective recommendation performance. The comparative analysis between the proposed novel recommendation framework with the existing techniques assures the effectiveness of proposed approach in web service recommendation.  相似文献

High surface nanosized rutile TiO2 is prepared via a sol-gel method from an ethylene glycol-based titanium-precursor in the presence of a non-ionic surfactant, at pH 0. Its electrochemical behaviour has been investigated at low temperature using two different potential windows. Typically, the potential window of the rutile system is 1-3 V but the use of an enlarged potential window (0.1-3 V), leads to an excellent reversible capacity of 341 mAh g−1 which is comparable to graphite anodes. The electrochemical performance was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic techniques at temperatures ranging from −40 to 20 °C. Nanosized TiO2 exhibits excellent rate capability (341 mAh g−1 at 20 °C, 197 mAh g−1 at −10 °C, 138 mAh g−1 at −20 °C, and 77 mAh g−1 at −40 °C at a C/5 rate) and good cycling stability. The superior low-temperature electrochemical performance of nanosized rutile TiO2 may make it a promising candidate as lithium-ion battery material.  相似文献
