Localization of deformation and its effect on the course of processes of pressure working metals

The author examines the problems of spontaneous and stationary localization of deformation on the development of plastic yielding in pressure working of metals. It is established that localization of plastic yielding results in the dispersion of the geometrical dimensions, structure, texture and properties, and also in changes in their general level. Testing MKB-75 mullite-corundum articles in linings of casting ladles

The West Siberian Integrated Iron-and-Steel Works has tested in 350-ton casting ladles mullite-corundum refractories of grade MKB-75 (TU 14-8-633-95) produced by the Semiluki Refractory Plant. The use of these refractories in the ladles for casting steel into molds provides an endurance of 40 heats without replacing the slag zone or the bottom, which is 1.5 times higher than the endurance of ladles lined with conventional KVKB refractories. The use of MKB-75 refractories for continuous casting is inexpedient because of the elevated specific consumption and low endurance of the refractories.     

Production and use of refractory components for lining metallurgical plants and components for protecting the metal jet in continuous-casting machines

Design of tundish ladle lining on the basis of thermal and hydraulic modeling

A structure for the lining of a tundish ladle made from domestic refractory materials is suggested in which the heat loss is less than in linings from imported materials. The hydrodynamics of the liquid pool depends on the ladle profile and the structure of the interstrand partitions. The best results (absence of stagnation pockets along the ladle length) are obtained when the partitions height varies betweenH/3 andH/7 from the second to the fourth partition and the partitions are arranged at 1/4 of the interaxial distance to the strand behind the partition.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 6, pp. 25 – 27, June, 1994.
