The severity of clinical features of trichinosis and cardiac involvement incidence were examined in the study. The values of eosinophiles, serum enzymes and serologic response to T. spiralis were determined in relation to the disease severity. Twenty-nine patients, of mean age from 24 to 29 years treated in the Clinic in the period from January to April 1995 were presented-7 with severe form of trichinosis, 10 with moderately severe and 12 with light. The fever was noticed in 93.1% of patients, gastrointestinal disorders in 65.5%, myalgias in 96.6%, facial edema in 79.3%, cardiac disorders in 31% and rash in 20.7%. Positive IIF test result was found in 100% of patients with severe clinical features, and only in 58.3% of patients with light clinical features. The patients were treated with mebendazole in the dose of 25 mg/kg BM a day during 14 days. It was concluded that severe trichinosis forms were frequently followed by myocardial damage, that severe forms responded faster and better serologically to trichinella and those patients should be treated with high mebendazole doses.  相似文献

Childhood onset proximal spinal muscular atrophy presents with considerable clinical variability. This study included 14 Croatian children aged 11 days to 8 years with spinal muscular atrophy types I-III verified clinically and electromyoneurographically. DNA of affected children was screened for deletions of exons 7 and 8 of the survival motor neuron gene and for deletion of exon 5 of the neuronal apoptosis inhibitor protein gene. Motor nerve conduction velocity and compound muscle action potential amplitude were decreased in children with spinal muscular atrophy type I and II. Deletions of exons 7 and 8 of the survival motor neuron gene and of exon 5 of the neuronal apoptosis inhibitor protein gene in children with spinal muscular atrophy type I-II suggested existence of more genetic abnormalities as compared to type III. A decrease in compound muscle action potential amplitude and motor nerve conduction velocity in children with spinal muscular atrophy correlated with the disease severity, probably as a result of axonal degeneration. Phenotypic severity in children onset spinal muscular atrophy is directly correlated with the extent of survival motor neuron and neuronal apoptosis inhibitor protein exon deletions.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to present some results of investigations on machined surface quality produced by high-speed cutting technologies and conventional turning. Machined surface quality demands significantly affect cost of production and increase the price of a product. Hence, obtaining a good quality of surface while lowering production costs has been metalworkers' preoccupation since beginning their jobs. One possible approach for solving that problem is introducing high-speed machining facilities into production. High-speed machining allows higher productivity, excellent surface finish and good dimensional accuracy in the manufacturing process. Therefore these technologies have considerable advantages over traditional machining technologies. In this article some high-speed machining tests on different materials with different hardness, different machinability index, and by using different experimental approaches have been illustrated. Hard turning and high-speed turn milling, in particular, have been analyzed from the aspect of applicability of these technologies on conventional machines, since these machines still can be found in many manufacturing facilities. Results obtained through these experiments confirmed advantages of high-speed technologies over conventional machining. It has been shown that common production machines, e.g., a universal lathe, in combination with new cutting tools, might be use effectively in some high-speed applications also.  相似文献

A series of newly developed paclitaxel analogues have been tested for their growth inhibitory activity on two human breast cancer cell lines, one of which expresses the MDR (multidrug resistance) phenotype. Paclitaxel (taxol) was used as a reference compound. Three new classes of taxanes were analyzed: the cephalomannine compounds, the pyrazoline derivatives and the seco-derivatives. Our results demonstrated an increased antiproliferative activity of pyrazoline derivatives on drug-resistant cancer cells with respect to paclitaxel. These compounds were able to block MDR-bearing MCF-7 ADRr cells in the G2/M phase of cell cycle and, consequently, induce programmed cell death. In keeping with the antiproliferative effects, cells treated with paclitaxel derivatives showed a more pronounced cell cycle arrest than the parent compound paclitaxel. Also, apoptotic cell death, calculated as a percent of DNA fragmentation, occurred to a greater extent in cells exposed to pyrazoline derivatives. The development of new paclitaxel analogues with greater antitumour activity on MDR-positive cells may be useful in selecting new taxanes effective on resistant tumors.  相似文献

The NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) method of Conlon and Outhred (1972) was used to measure diffusional water permeability of the nodal cells of the green alga Chara gymnophylla. Two local minima at 15 and 30 degreesC of diffusional water permeability (Pd) were observed delimiting a region of low activation energy (Ea around 20 kJ/mol) indicative of an optimal temperature region for membrane transport processes. Above and below this region water transport was of a different type with high Ea (about 70 kJ/mol). The triphasic temperature dependence of the water transport suggested a channel-mediated transport at 15-30 degreesC and lipid matrix-mediated transport beyond this region. The K+ channel inhibitor, tetraethylammonium as well as the Cl- channel inhibitor, ethacrynic acid, diminished Pd in the intermediate temperature region by 54 and 40%, respectively. The sulfhydryl agent p-(chloromercuri-benzensulfonate) the water transport inhibitor in erythrocytes also known to affect K+ transport in Chara, only increased Pd below 15 degreesC. In high external potassium ('K-state') water transport minima were pronounced. The role of K+ channels as sensors of the optimal temperature limits was further emphasized by showing a similar triphasic temperature dependence of the conductance of a single K+ channel also known to cotransport water, which originated from cytoplasmic droplets (putatively tonoplast) of C. gymnophylla. The minimum of K+ single channel conductance at around 15 degreesC, unlike the one at 30 degreesC, was sensitive to changes of growth temperature underlining membrane lipid involvement. The additional role of intracellular (membrane?) water in the generation of discontinuities in the above thermal functions was suggested by an Arrhenius plot of the cellular water relaxation rate which showed breaks at 13 and 29 degreesC.  相似文献
