Ice-glazing is applied to protect the frozen shrimp from undesirable quality changes during frozen storage. Effects of initial frozen shrimp temperature on glaze uptake; glazing time on glaze uptake; and different glaze percentage on physical and chemical changes of frozen shrimp during storage were investigated. Shrimps were frozen in a spiral freezing machine (?35 °C/15 min); transferred to the air blast freezer until the core temperature reached ?18 °C, ?25 °C and ?30 °C; submitted to glazing process; and stored at ?18 °C for 180 days. The glazing percentage, pH and N-TVB levels were monitored every 45 days. This study has demonstrated the effectiveness of the glazing process as a protecting agent for frozen shrimp. A reasonable range of water uptake could be between 15% and 20% to guarantee the final quality. Therefore, it is important to prevent temperature fluctuations during transportation and storage to maintain the quality of the frozen shrimps.  相似文献

The objective of this paper was to perform an analysis on thermal acceptability in naturally ventilated (NVB) and air-conditioned buildings (ACB) located in hot and humid climates in Brazil. Experiments were carried out in April and November 2005 with 1.301 questionnaires based on ISO 10551:1995(E). Indoor and outdoor climatic variables were monitored simultaneously. The results revealed that 53% of the occupants of NVB and 78% of ACB were thermally satisfied. However, some restrictions were observed with the applications of the following methodologies: ISO/FDIS 7730:2005(E); ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 55:2004; Adaptive Temperature Limits (ATG) and prEN15251: 2005(E). Differences were observed between thermal sensation (TSV) and predicted mean vote (PMV) and between the subject's percentages expressing thermal unacceptability of the environment and the PPD calculated according to ISO/FDIS 7730:2005(E).  相似文献

The electrochemical treatment of effluents has been used as an alternative to conventional treatments because of advantages such as environmental compatibility, process versatility and high efficiency. In addition, electrochemical treatment methods have been demonstrated to be very useful in the treatment of poorly biodegradable effluents. Studies have demonstrated that the electrochemical treatment efficiency is directly related to the electrode material. These materials should have electro-activity for reactions with the targeted pollutants, have high activation energy for undesired reactions and be corrosion resistant. Platinum and DSA® are known to be effective for the electro-oxidation of pollutants such as phenol, ammonia and ammonium ions. This work presents the results of a comparative evaluation of some materials that can be used as anodes for the electro-oxidation of ammonia and ammonium ions in petroleum refinery effluents. The selected materials were Pt, DSA®, Ni, anodized Al and graphite. Cyclic voltammograms confirmed the electro-activity of the Pt and DSA® electrodes and demonstrated the electro-activity of Ni. Anodic polarization revealed the electro-activity of graphite. Anodized Al electrodes showed no activity for the electro-oxidation of the analyzed compounds. The results for the Ni and graphite electrodes are promising.  相似文献

The construction of single mode optical fibre (SMF) sensors to handle with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), has been optimized to operate at the third telecommunication window (1550 nm). The main motivation is to take advantage of the photonic devices used in telecommunication systems that makes easier sensors multiplexing. Moreover, the low transmission attenuation at that wavelength offers the possibility of remote sensing. The sensing materials used suffer reversible structural alterations in the presence of VOC, such as colour change, which are detectable with a photonic system. Following the Electrostatic Self Assembly method (ESAm), a nanostructure is constructed onto cleaved ended SMF, which is doped with a sensing material. The fabrication of this type of sensors was focused on multimode fibres (MMF) and in the visible spectral range (VIS) so far. The implementation has been adapted to SMF and to operate around 1550 nm, specifically, by easing the adsorption of the VOCs molecules. It has been observed that the sensing material affects the morphology of the nanostructures as well and so, to the sensors response. The devices implemented show a potential use in the identification of single and complex mixtures of VOCs.  相似文献

Toxicity bioassays rely largely on lethality measurements. Such assays are generally lengthy and expensive, and provide little information on mechanisms of toxicity. A desire to understand the mechanisms by which cells respond to physical and chemical stresses has led to interest in measuring stress proteins as toxicological endpoints. Transgenic strains of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans that carry a reporter enzyme under control of a stress-inducible promoter have been created. The reporter is easily quantified in intact nematodes, and it responds to a wide range of chemical stressors. Therefore, transgenic C. elegans can provide the basis for a wide range of quick, simple and informative bioassays.  相似文献

While the versatile composition of layered double hydroxides(LDHs)allows the introduction of almost any polyvalent cation in their structure,the exchangeable negatively charged ions intercalated between the plates increase their vast range of functionalities.Here we report on the preparation and optical properties of pillared Eu3+-substituted ZnAl LDHs intercalated by aliphatic dicarboxylates:-OOC-(CH2)n-2-COO-.The basal distance in these materials is dependent on the size and packing of the intercalated anions.By varying the number(n)of carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain from 2 to 12,the interlayer gallery of these ZnAlEu LDHs is considerably expanded from 0.9 to 2.1 nm.In the interlayer gallery,the aliphatic dicarboxylates form a monolayer,with the aliphatic chain inclined by an angleα≈63°with the hydroxide layers.The carbon atom in the COO-group is 0.43 nm far from the metal plane,showing that these carboxylates are not grafted in the brucite-like layers.These LDHs are thermally stable up to around 150℃,after which dehydroxylation of the hydroxide layers is observed.The Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters were obtained and compared to the Eu3+-containing complexes with the same ligand series indicating a more symmetrical and less polarizable chemical environment around the rare earth ion.  相似文献
