Vapor phase synthesis of ZnO structures

We observed zinc oxide structures formed in an oxygen-containing atmosphere as a result of oxidation of the surface of zinc droplets. The gas-phase oxidation leads to the formation of hollow ZnO whiskers on the metal surface, which grow due to the transport of zinc vapor through their channels. It was found that high partial pressures of zinc and atomic oxygen give rise to fractal structures, which appear in a cascade process involving the sequential formation of zinc oxide vapor, ZnO clusters, and cluster aggregates as a result of the cluster-cluster interaction. A deposit of ZnO synthesized on the cathode surface exhibits a columnar structure.     

Determination of erythroid variants of human leukemias using monoclonal antibodies

Expression of erythroid antigens identifying with the use of monoclonal antibodies (mab) HAE3 and HAE9 was studied in 333 patients with different types of hemoblastoses. Frequency of erythroid variants based on the reaction with mab was 5.7%. In 2.4% of cases erythroid markers were the only indication on the nature of leukemia. In 2.7% of cases the types of leukemia were accounted for as "mixed" ones, i.e. erythrolymphoid and erythromyeloid variants. Only in 0.6% of cases erythroid variant was detected by the morphological criteria.

An experimental study of the effect of humidity on the distribution of charged particles in a glow-discharge plasma

The charged-particle distribution in a glow-discharge plasma in air with differing moisture concentration was studied using a double electric probe. An important difference is found in the distribution of charged particles in the discharge, depending on the humidity of the air. The amount of water vapor with a relative concentration of 2% does not affect the distribution of charged particles in the plasma, and, with an increase in moisture content up to 15%, a twofold increase in the ion concentration along the discharge axis is observed.     

Stress State of the Rock Mass in the Vicinity of Underground Mining Workings, Pit Edges, and below Its Bottom

An analysis is performed for the stress state of edges and bottom of the Aikhal/ open-pit mine. The influence exerted by the ratio of vertical and horizontal components of the initial stress-field on the results of numerical modeling of mining-technical situation in ceasing the open mining of kimberlite pipe is considered.     

Study of neuroblastomas in children using a complex of monoclonal antibodies

The possibility to reveal the following types of neuroblastoma is described: with c-ALL-antigen; with Thy-1-antigen (ICO-10); with granulocytic antigen (ICO-G2); with B-cell antigen (IPO-10). Immunocompetent cells in the tumour may be studied with the use of monoclonal antibodies ICO-1, ICO-11, ICO-GM-1, OKT3, IPO-3.     

Effect of partial water flooding on the stress-strain state of the crown pillar in the Aikhal Mine

Based on numerical modeling of stress-strain state of rocks and the in situ deformation monitoring of rocks mass surrounding underground excavations, the authors determine stability criteria for mine structural elements in terms of the Aikhal Mine where mining has been transferred under the worked-out open pit bottom. Using the determined criteria, the stress-strain state and subsidence of the crown pillar are assessed, considering current stage of the water table in the open pit. The article gives predictive estimate of the change in the stress-strain state and subsidence of the crown pillar upon the water level raising.
