Level set method [S. Osher, J. Sethian, J. Comput. Phys. 79 (1988) 12] is a highly robust and accurate computational technique for tracking moving interfaces in various application domains. It originates from the idea to view the moving front as a particular level set of a higher dimensional function, so the topological merging and breaking, sharp gradients and cusps can form naturally, and the effects of curvature can be easily incorporated. The resulting equations, describing interface surface evolution, are of Hamilton-Jacobi type and they are solved using techniques developed for hyperbolic equations. In this paper we describe an extension of the sparse field method for solving level set equations in the case of non-convex Hamiltonians, which are common in the simulations of the profile surface evolution during plasma etching and deposition processes. Sparse field method itself, developed by Whitaker [R. Whitaker, Internat. J. Comput. Vision 29 (3) (1998) 203] and broadly used in image processing community, is an alternative to the usual combination of narrow band and fast marching procedures for the computationally effective solving of level set equations. The developed procedure is applied to the simulations of 3D feature profile surface evolution during plasma etching process, that include the effects of ion enhanced chemical etching and physical sputtering, which are the primary causes of the Hamiltonian non-convexity. 相似文献

The effect of a thin RuOx layer formed on the Ru/TiN/doped poly-Si/Si stack structure was compared with that on the RuOx/TiN/doped poly-Si/Si stack structure over the post-deposition annealing temperature ranges of 450–600°C. The Ru/TiN/poly-Si/Si
contact system exhibited linear behavior at forward bias with a small increase in the total resistance up to 600°C. The RuOx/TiN/poly-Si/Si contact system exhibited nonlinear characteristics under forward bias at 450°C, which is attributed to no
formation of a thin RuOx layer at the RuOx surface and porous-amorphous microstructure. In the former case, the addition of oxygen at the surface layer of the Ru film
by pre-annealing leads to the formation of a thin RuOx layer and chemically strong Ru-O bonds. This results from the retardation of oxygen diffusion caused by the discontinuity
of diffusion paths. In particular, the RuOx layer in a nonstoichiometric state is changed to the RuO2-crystalline phase in a stoichiometric state after post-deposition annealing; this phase can act as an oxygen-capture layer.
Therefore, it appears that the electrical properties of the Ru/TiN/poly-Si/Si contact system are better than those of the

Exogenous and endogenous glutamate has been shown to evoke dopamine (DA) release in the striatum using both in vitro and in vivo techniques. We hypothesized that stimulation of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) would phasically enhance striatal DA release via the glutamatergic corticostriatal pathway. To test this hypothesis, in vivo brain microdialysis was employed to measure extracellular concentrations of DA in the striatum during electrical stimulation of the PFC. Five rats were implanted with bilateral electrodes located in the medial PFC and dialysis probes in the dorsal striatum. Two days later the PFC of these awake, freely moving rats was stimulated first at 50 microA and then at 100 microA for 20 minutes at 2-hour intervals. Both currents significantly increased DA release. Extracellular DA rose rapidly during stimulation, peaked immediately afterward, and then slowly returned to baseline values. Dopamine reached 118% of baseline values with 50 microA stimulation and 138% with 100 microA stimulation. Histologic analysis using the fluorescent retrograde dye Fluoro Gold confirmed that cells projecting to the vicinity of the striatal dialysis probe originated in the vicinity of the PFC electrodes. These results provide direct evidence for phasic, excitatory modulation of striatal DA release by the PFC. 相似文献

We have investigated the visual responses of 184 single units located in the superficial layers of the optic tectum (OT) of the decerebrate, paralysed pigeon. Visual responses were similar to those reported in non-decerebrate preparations; most units responded best to moving visual stimuli, 18% were directionally selective (they had a clear preference for a particular direction of visual stimulus movement), 76% were plane-selective (they responded to movement in either direction in a particular plane). However, we also found that a high proportion of units showed some sensitivity to the orientation of visual stimuli. We examined the effects of extraocular muscle (EOM) afferent signals, induced by passive eye movement (PEM), on the directional visual responses of units. Visual responses were most modified by particular directions of eye movement, although there was no unique relationship between the direction of visual stimulus movement to which an individual unit responded best and the direction of eye movement that caused the greatest modification of that visual response. The results show that EOM afferent signals, carrying information concerning the direction of eye movement, reach the superficial layers of the OT in the pigeon and there modify the visual responses of units in a manner that suggests some role for these signals in the processing of visual information. 相似文献

To clarify whether long-term impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) is associated with dysfunction of peripheral and autonomic nerves, age-matched men with IGT and diabetes mellitus were followed prospectively for 12-15 years, when peripheral and autonomic nerve function was assessed. The patients comprised four subgroups: (1) 51 IGT subjects (duration of IGT at least 12-15 years); (2) 35 diabetic patients, with IGT 12-15 years ago, who later developed diabetes; (3) 34 diabetic patients, duration of diabetes at least 12-15 years; and (4) 62 age-matched non-diabetic control subjects. Mean age of the whole study population was 61 +/- 2 years (mean +/- SD), not different in the four groups. Peripheral nerve function tests included nerve conduction velocities, amplitudes, distal latencies, F-reflexes, and sensory perception thresholds for heat, cold, and vibration. Autonomic nerve function tests included the heart rate reaction during deep breathing (expiration to inspiration ratio) and to tilt (acceleration and brake indices). Despite 12-15 years of IGT, peripheral nerve function did not differ between IGT and control subjects, whereas autonomic nerve function deviated; an abnormal expiration to inspiration ratio (a sign of vagal nerve dysfunction) was significantly more common (15/51 versus 5/62; p < 0.01) in IGT than in control subjects. Diabetic patients (groups 2 and 3) showed lower conduction velocities (in general 2-4 m s-1 lower) than IGT and control subjects in all tested nerves. Anomalous threshold voltage roll-up behavior, commonly referred as reverse short channel effect (RSCE), has been observed in high-k (HfO2 on SiON buffer, Al2O3 on SiON buffer) gated submicron nMOSFETs, while the SiO2 or SiON control samples show normal short channel effect (SCE) behavior. The possible causes such as inhomogeneous channel doping profile and gate oxide thickness variation near S/D ends have been ruled out. In polyolefin processes the melt index (MI) is the most important control variable indicating product quality. Because of
the difficulty in the on-line measurement of MI, a lot of MI estimation and correlation methods have been proposed. In this
work a new dynamic MI estimation scheme is developed based on system identification techniques. The empirical MI estimation
equation proposed in the present study is derived from the 1

-order dynamic models. Effectiveness of the present estimation scheme was illustrated by numerical simulations based on plant
operation data including grade change operations in high density polyethylene (HDPE) processes. From the comparisons with
other estimation methods it was found that the proposed estimation scheme showed better performance in MI predictions. The
virtual sensor model developed based on the estimation scheme was combined with the virtual on-line analyzer (VOA) to give
a quality control system to be implemented in the actual HDPE plant. From the application of the present control system, significant

In developing an intelligent mobile construction robot, a navigation system that can provide an effective and efficient path-planning algorithm is a very important element. The purpose of a path-planning method for a mobile construction robot is to find a continuous collision-free path from the initial position of the construction robot to its target position. This paper presents an improved Bug-based algorithm, called SensBug, which can produce an effective path in an unknown environment with both stationary and movable obstacles. The contributions, which make it possible to generate an effective and short path, are an improved method to select local directions, a reverse mode, and a simple leaving condition.
