In this paper, a simple algorithm for adaptation of the complex baseband weights of a transmit antenna array using feedback from the receiver is proposed and analyzed. The system utilizes stochastic gradient adaptation to maximize the power delivered to the receiver for a constrained transmission power, which provides both fading diversity and beam steering gain. Dual perturbed transmission weight vectors are time multiplexed onto the pilot signal, and the receiver generates feedback selecting the perturbed weight vector which delivers greater power. This feedback is used to provide weight adaptation at the transmitter, and this adaptation is shown to be an update by a coarse estimate of the gradient of the delivered power. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed in terms of convergence and tracking of an AR1 fading channel, with simulations confirming the analysis. Bit error rate (BER) simulations in a dynamic fading channel show that the algorithm outperforms previously proposed vector selection feedback, and in slower fading, the algorithm substantially outperforms diversity space time coding.  相似文献

1. The use of Li pre-treatment in rats before high pressure oxygen exposure has been reported effective in controlling convulsions. This is an effect which is better demonstrated if exposure to oxygen follows shortly after Li injection than exposure following several hours later. 2. This study has investigated the hypothesis that the protective action of Li may be exerted, in the short term, by its removing ammonia from the blood and alleviating the latter's known toxic action. 3. A normal Li distribution time profile in unstressed rat brain and blood following intraperitoneal injection has been established. Brain and blood ammonia, amino acids and Li concentrations were also measured in Li-treated animals exposed and convulsed by oxygen. These measurements were made both shortly (15 min) and also several hours after (24 hr) Li treatment. Ammonia and amino acid values in Li-protected groups were compared to normal unstressed animal values and also to values in animals convulsed by oxygen unprotected by Li pre-treatment. 4. In rat brain abd blood significant (P less than 0-001) elevation of ammonia and glutamine and depression of gamma-amino butyric acid (brain only) and glutamate was noted following oxygen treatment in unprotected animals. Prior injection of Li 15 min before high pressure oxygen exposure delayed convulsions twice as long. Additionally if these animals were only exposed to oxygen for a period of time equal to that which would normally produce convulsions in unprotected animals, brain and blood ammonia and amino acids were maintained near to unstressed animal levels. Concomitantly, blood Li concentrations were considerably depressed below the values one would expect from the previously determined Li distribution time profile. 5. In rats exposed to high pressure oxygen 24 hr after Li treatment there was no protective action against high pressure oxygen convulsion, rather a potentiating effect for convulsion was seen. 6. These data present compelling evidence for the controlling effect of Li in rats, on rising blood ammonia concentration which occurs in high pressure oxygen exposure. The effect might well be due to the known chelating properties of Li with ammonia.  相似文献

Promoting innovation has been a major task for both business practitioners and governments in emerging markets. Based on the resource‐based view, this study examines the contributing factors of firms' innovation capability and the contingent role of state ownership. Utilizing data on 102 Chinese automobile firms, we found that financial resources, R&D human capital, innovation leadership, collaborative culture, and government support positively relate to firms' innovation capability. Moreover, the firm's ownership type serves as a boundary condition for the resource–capability relationship. The significance of different resources in developing innovation capability vary for firms with different ownership types. In particular, government support and R&D human capital have stronger effects in promoting non‐state‐owned enterprises' innovation capability. From a practical standpoint, developing innovation capability should consider the critical role of ownership. Specifically, while state‐owned enterprises can capitalize on organizational and financial resources to enhance innovation capability, it is also important for them to transform bureaucratized systems into more market‐orientated ones and facilitate the effective utilization of R&D human capital and government support.  相似文献

Religious orientation can be divided into intrinsic and extrinsic: intrinsically oriented individuals “live their religion,” whereas extrinsically oriented individuals practice religion mainly to gain external benefits. In adults, depression has been found to correlate negatively with intrinsic religious orientation and positively with extrinsic orientation. Studies of the relation between religiosity and depression typically have not been longitudinal, conducted with adolescents, controlled for the influence of other factors associated with depression (i.e., negative cognitions), or examined the reverse relation of depression predicting religious orientation. Our 4-month longitudinal study of 273 ninth-grade students addressed these issues. Results showed that higher intrinsic religious orientation measured at baseline significantly predicted lower self-reported depressive symptoms 4 months later, controlling for initial level of depressive symptoms and cognitive style; in contrast, extrinsic orientation and the interaction between religious orientation and life events did not significantly predict later depressive symptoms. Self-reported depressive symptoms, however, did not predict either intrinsic or extrinsic religious orientation 4 months later. Factors contributing to different findings for adolescents versus adults in the relation between extrinsic religious orientation and depression are suggested. We studied the effects of ketamine in the isolated rat lung under conditions of increased pulmonary arterial pressure using the thromboxane A2 mimic, U46619, and in response to ventilatory hypoxia. Ketamine caused dose-dependent vasodilation, and possible mechanisms were evaluated using verapamil, meclofenamate, N(omega)-L-nitro-L-arginine benzyl ester (an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase), and U-38883A (an ATP-sensitive potassium channel antagonist) in the isolated blood-perfused rat lung. Under increased tone conditions, N(omega)-L-nitro-L-arginine benzyl ester, meclofenamate, and U-38883A had no significant effect in attenuating ketamine-induced vasodilator responses. In a final series of experiments, verapamil significantly attenuated ketamine-induced vasodilator responses. These data suggest that ketamine has significant vasodilator activity in the pulmonary vascular bed of the rat, which seems to be mediated by an L-type calcium channel-sensitive pathway. These responses are not mediated or modulated by the release of nitric oxide, the activation of K+ ATP channels, or the release of vasodilator cyclooxygenase products. IMPLICATIONS: In this study, we examined the mechanism of the vasodilator effects of ketamine in the blood-perfused rat lung. The results of the present study suggest that ketamine-induced vasodilator responses are mediated by an L-type calcium channel-sensitive pathway.  相似文献

Transport is the only major sector where there has been an increase in energy consumption over the last 10 years. This article concentrates on the road and rail sectors and presents for the firts time an intermodal comparison of the trends on a time-series basis. The underlying reasons are explored and some of the complex interactions between individual factors highlighted. Several options for reducing energy consumption in the transport sector are proposed. Given the efficacy of oil for transport, there is only a limited opportunity for improvements in the existing stock of vehicles (through measures such as increases in car occupancy) and technological improvements offer the best alternative.  相似文献

Communicative planning literature has for a number of years discussed how to prevent social closure and how to improve access to planning processes for all parties interested in urban planning. The norms and measures discussed have to some degree been institutionalized into planning laws and been implemented in professional practice. In this article we examine how cognitive closure mechanisms work parallel with social and economic closure mechanisms, often reinforcing them, in three Norwegian cities. The article also discusses the democratic implications of these cognitive closure mechanisms, related to representation, inclusion, and accountability.  相似文献

This article compares the development of transport and energy use with a focus on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the EU15 countries between 1960 and 2000, and separately by each individual EU country between 1970 and 2000. Based on a review on the literature, immaterialisation can be defined as the reduction of energy intensity and transport intensity; dematerialisation can be defined as the reduction in carbon intensity of energy production and the carbon intensity of transport; decarbonisation can be defined as the reduction in (total and transport) carbon intensity of the whole economy. Although there is a clear pattern of reduction in energy intensity of the economy and carbon intensity of energy production, a similar pattern cannot be found in transport. Neither the transport intensity of the economy nor the carbon intensity of transport has been reduced. In particular, freight transport intensity has grown between 1985 and 2000. Data presented by country have shown even more variation. The EU15 countries were aggregated into six groups by cluster analysis to establish the different patterns on each of the three measures. It is concluded that the EU15 countries will have problems in achieving the EU White Paper target of decoupling transport growth from economic growth and the Kyoto target of reducing total CO2 emissions by 8% from the 1990 level between 2008 and 2012. However, there are some weak signals suggesting a more sustainable passenger transport system.  相似文献
