This paper proposes a passive methodology for detecting a class of stealthy intermittent integrity attacks in cyber-physical systems subject to process disturbances and measurement noise. A stealthy intermittent integrity attack strategy is first proposed by modifying a zero-dynamics attack model. The stealthiness of the generated attacks is rigorously investigated under the condition that the adversary does not know precisely the system state values. In order to help detect such attacks, a backward-in-time detection residual is proposed based on an equivalent quantity of the system state change, due to the attack, at a time prior to the attack occurrence time. A key characteristic of this residual is that its magnitude increases every time a new attack occurs. To estimate this unknown residual, an optimal fixed-point smoother is proposed by minimizing a piece-wise linear quadratic cost function with a set of specifically designed weighting matrices. The smoother design guarantees robustness with respect to process disturbances and measurement noise, and is also able to maintain sensitivity as time progresses to intermittent integrity attack by resetting the covariance matrix based on the weighting matrices. The adaptive threshold is designed based on the estimated backward-in-time residual, and the attack detectability analysis is rigorously investigated to characterize quantitatively the class of attacks that can be detected by the proposed methodology. Finally, a simulation example is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed methodology.   相似文献

In this work we develop a novel modeling and global optimization‐based planning formulation, which predicts product yields and properties for all of the production units within a highly integrated refinery‐petrochemical complex. Distillation is modeled using swing‐cut theory, while data‐based nonlinear models are developed for other processing units. The parameters of the postulated models are globally optimized based on a large data set of daily production. Property indices in blending units are linearly additive and they are calculated on a weight or volume basis. Binary variables are introduced to denote unit and operation modes selection. The planning model is a large‐scale non‐convex mixed integer nonlinear optimization model, which is solved to ε‐global optimality. Computational results for multiple case studies indicate that we achieve a significant profit increase (37–65%) using the proposed data‐driven global optimization framework. Finally, a user‐friendly interface is presented which enables automated updating of demand, specification, and cost parameters. © 2016 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 62: 3020–3040, 2016  相似文献

An efficient computational screening approach is proposed to select the most cost‐effective materials and adsorption process conditions for CH4/CO2 separation. The method identifies eight novel zeolites for removing CO2 from natural gas, coalbed methane, shale gas, enhanced oil recovery gas, biogas, and landfill gas sources. The separation cost is minimized through hierarchical material screening combined with rigorous process modeling and optimization. Minimum purity and recovery constraints of 97 and 95%, respectively, are introduced to meet natural gas pipeline specifications and minimize losses. The top zeolite, WEI, can recover methane as economically as $0.15/MMBTU from natural gas with 5% CO2 to $1.44/MMBTU from natural gas with 50% CO2, showing the potential for developing natural gas reservoirs with higher CO2 content. The necessity of a combined material selection and process optimization approach is demonstrated by the lack of clear correlation between cost and material‐centric metrics such as adsorption selectivity. © 2014 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 60: 1767–1785, 2014  相似文献

Optimal operational strategy and planning of a raw natural gas refining complex (RNGRC) is very challenging since it involves highly nonlinear processes, complex thermodynamics, blending, and utility systems. In this article, we first propose a superstructure integrating a utility system for the RNGRC, involving multiple gas feedstocks, and different product specifications. Then, we develop a large‐scale nonconvex mixed‐integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) optimization model. The model incorporates rigorous process models for input and output relations based on fundamentals of thermodynamics and unit operations and accurate models for utility systems. To reduce the noncovex items in the proposed MINLP model, equivalent reformulation techniques are introduced. Finally, the reformulated nonconvex MINLP model is solved to global optimality using state of the art deterministic global optimization approaches. This paper presents a distributed fault diagnosis scheme able to deal with process and sensor faults in an integrated way for a class of interconnected input–output nonlinear uncertain discrete-time systems. A robust distributed fault detection scheme is designed, where each interconnected subsystem is monitored by its respective fault detection agent, and according to the decisions of these agents, further information regarding the type of the fault can be deduced. As it is shown, a process fault occurring in one subsystem can only be detected by its corresponding detection agent whereas a sensor fault in a subsystem can be detected by either its corresponding detection agent or the detection agent of another subsystem that is affected by the subsystem where the sensor fault occurred. This discriminating factor is exploited for the derivation of a high-level isolation scheme. Moreover, process and sensor fault detectability conditions characterising quantitatively the class of detectable faults are derived. Finally, a simulation example is used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed fault detection scheme.  相似文献

A new protocol is proposed for reducing the power consumption of battery-powered terminals in a mobile computing environment. We exploit the fact that, in a mobile data network, mobile terminals do not continuously receive data and therefore they need not continuously operate their receivers. Nevertheless, they need to check their traffic condition periodically, that is, whether there are pending data for them or not. The proposed energy-efficient protocol is based on a paging procedure wherein a dedicated channel is used to alert (page) terminals with pending traffic. Each terminal may check its traffic condition whenever it decides to by monitoring the paging channel. The protocol is evaluated through an approximated theoretical model and through computer simulation. We focus on deriving approximate formulas for the mean message delay, the message delay variance and the power consumption. It is shown that the proposed protocol can achieve considerable power saving at a cost of increased message delivery delay.  相似文献
