A monolithic microwave frequency divider IC with an operating range of 1.4?5.3 GHz was developed and fabricated in a standard bipolar technology. The circuit operates on the principle of `regenerative frequency division?. Compared to the most popular divider concepts based on a master-slave D-flip-flop, an almost twice as high input frequency can be divided, provided that the same technology is used. The effects of epithelial removal and cyclooxygenase inhibition on contractions induced by exogenous acetylcholine (ACh) and electrical field stimulation (EFS) were evaluated in horse tracheal strips and bronchial rings. Epithelial removal potentiated the response to ACh but had no influence on the response to EFS. The effect of epithelial removal was not altered by pretreating the tissues with meclofenamate, a cyclooxygenase inhibitor. In trachealis strips, meclofenamate augmented contractions induced by EFS but not by ACh. In bronchial rings, meclofenamate augmented EFS-induced contraction to a greater extent than ACh-induced contraction. These effects of meclofenamate were epithelium-independent. We conclude that horse airway epithelium produces a relaxant factor that is not a prostanoid. Endogenous prostanoids originating from non-epithelial sites inhibit only cholinergic nerves in the trachea but both parasympathetic nerves and smooth muscle in the bronchi.  相似文献

Three-dimensional (3-D), transient numerical simulations of the turbulent reacting flow in the vicinity of the initiator injection point of a low-density polyethylene (LDPE) tubular reactor using a large eddy simulation (LES) approach combined with a filtered density function (FDF) technique are presented. The numerical approach allows for detailed predictions of the turbulent flow field and the associated (passive and reactive) scalar mixing. The aim is to study the influence of the injector geometry and initiator injection temperature on the LDPE process in terms of product quality (average polymer chain length, and polydispersity) and process efficiency (such as initiator consumption).  相似文献

Airborne and satellite brightness temperature (TB) measurements were combined with intensive field observations of sub-Arctic tundra snow cover to develop the framework for a new tundra-specific passive microwave snow water equivalent (SWE) retrieval algorithm. The dense snowpack and high sub-grid lake fraction across the tundra mean that conventional brightness temperature difference approaches (such as the commonly used 37 GHz-19 GHz) are not appropriate across the sub-Arctic. Airborne radiometer measurements (with footprint dimensions of approximately 70 × 120 m) acquired across sub-Arctic Canada during three field campaigns during the 2008 winter season were utilized to illustrate a slope reversal in the 37 GHz TB versus SWE relationship. Scattering by the tundra snowpack drives a negative relationship until a threshold SWE value is reached near 130 mm at which point emission from the snowpack creates a positive but noisier relationship between 37 GHz TB and SWE.The change from snowpack scattering to emission was also evident in the temporal evolution of 37 GHz TB observed from satellite measurements. AMSR-E brightness temperatures (2002/03-2006/07) consistently exhibited decreases through the winter before reaching a minimum in February or March, followed by an increase for weeks or months before melt. The cumulative absolute change (Σ|Δ37V|) in vertically polarized 37 GHz TB was computed at both monthly and pentad intervals from a January 1 start date and compared to ground measured SWE from intensive and regional snow survey campaigns, and climate station observations. A greater (lower) cumulative change in |Δ37V| was significantly related to greater (lower) ground measured SWE (r2 = 0.77 with monthly averages; r2 = 0.67 with pentad averages). Σ|Δ37V| was only weakly correlated with lake fraction: monthly r2 values calculated for January through April 2003-2007 were largely less than 0.2. These results indicate that this is a computationally straightforward and viable algorithmic framework for producing tundra-specific SWE datasets from the complete satellite passive microwave record (1979 to present).  相似文献

Cross flow phenomena between connected sub-channels are studied by means of numerical simulations based on lattice-Boltzmann discretization. The cross (that is lateral) transfer is largely due to macroscopic instabilities developing at two shear layers. The characteristic size and advection velocity of the instabilities favorably compare with experimental results from the literature on a geometrically similar system. The strength of the cross flow strongly depends on the Reynolds number, with cross flow developing only for Reynolds numbers (based on macroscopic flow quantities) larger than 1360. Mass transfer between the sub-channels has been assessed by adding a passive scalar to the flow and solving its transport equation. As a result of the intimate connection of cross flow and lateral mass transfer, also the mass transfer coefficient is a pronounced function of Re.  相似文献

The algorithms designed to estimate snow water equivalent (SWE) using passive microwave measurements falter in lake-rich high-latitude environments due to the emission properties of ice covered lakes on low frequency measurements. Microwave emission models have been used to simulate brightness temperatures (Tbs) for snowpack characteristics in terrestrial environments but cannot be applied to snow on lakes because of the differing subsurface emissivities and scattering matrices present in ice. This paper examines the performance of a modified version of the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) snow emission model that incorporates microwave emission from lake ice and sub-ice water. Inputs to the HUT model include measurements collected over brackish and freshwater lakes north of Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada in April 2008, consisting of snowpack (depth, density, and snow water equivalent) and lake ice (thickness and ice type). Coincident airborne radiometer measurements at a resolution of 80 × 100 m were used as ground-truth to evaluate the simulations.The results indicate that subsurface media are simulated best when utilizing a modeled effective grain size and a 1 mm RMS surface roughness at the ice/water interface compared to using measured grain size and a flat Fresnel reflective surface as input. Simulations at 37 GHz (vertical polarization) produce the best results compared to airborne Tbs, with a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 6.2 K and 7.9 K, as well as Mean Bias Errors (MBEs) of −8.4 K and −8.8 K for brackish and freshwater sites respectively. Freshwater simulations at 6.9 and 19 GHz H exhibited low RMSE (10.53 and 6.15 K respectively) and MBE (−5.37 and 8.36 K respectively) but did not accurately simulate Tb variability (R = −0.15 and 0.01 respectively). Over brackish water, 6.9 GHz simulations had poor agreement with airborne Tbs, while 19 GHz V exhibited a low RMSE (6.15 K), MBE (−4.52 K) and improved relative agreement to airborne measurements (R = 0.47). Salinity considerations reduced 6.9 GHz errors substantially, with a drop in RMSE from 51.48 K and 57.18 K for H and V polarizations respectively, to 26.2 K and 31.6 K, although Tb variability was not well simulated. With best results at 37 GHz, HUT simulations exhibit the potential to track Tb evolution, and therefore SWE through the winter season.  相似文献

The present work deals with the development of a direct simulation strategy for solving the motion of spherical particles in a Bingham liquid. The simulating strategy is based on a lattice-Boltzmann flow solver and the dual-viscosity Bingham model. Validation of the strategy is first performed for single phase (lid-driven cavity flow) and then for two phase flows. Lid-driven cavity flow results illustrate the flow's response to an increase of the yield stress. We show how the settling velocity of a single sphere sedimenting in a Bingham liquid is influenced by the yield stress of the liquid. The hydrodynamic interactions between two spheres are studied at low and moderate Reynolds number. At low Reynolds number, two spheres settle with equal velocity. At moderate Reynolds number, the yield effects are softened and the trailing sphere approaches the leading sphere until collision occurs.  相似文献

Large-eddy simulations (LES) of the turbulent flow in a swirl tube with a tangential inlet have been performed. The geometry, and flow conditions were chosen according to an experimental study by [Escudier MP, Bornstein J, Zehnder N. Observations and LDA measurements of confined turbulent vortex flow. J Fluid Mech 1980;98:49-63]. Lattice-Boltzmann discretization was used to numerically solve the Navier-Stokes equations in the incompressible limit. Effects of spatial resolution and choices in subgrid-scale modeling were explicitly investigated with the experimental data set as the testing ground. Experimentally observed flow features, such as vortex breakdown and laminarization of the vortex core were well represented by the LES. The simulations confirmed the experimental observations that the average velocity profiles in the entire vortex tube are extremely sensitivity to the exit pipe diameter. For the narrowest exit pipe considered in the simulations, very high average velocity gradients are encountered. In this situation, the LES shows the most pronounced effects of spatial resolution and subgrid-scale modeling.  相似文献
