The electrochemical behavior of brasses with various Zn content (5.5–38 mass%) and brass (Cu–38Zn) with different Pb contents (1–3.4 mass%) in 0.6 M NaCl was investigated. The effects of temperature, immersion time, and concentration of chloride ions on the behavior of the different alloys were studied. The pitting corrosion behavior of Cu–Zn alloys and leaded–brass alloys in 0.6 M NaCl solution was also investigated. Open-circuit potential measurements (OCP), polarization techniques and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used. The results show that the increase in the Zn content increases the corrosion rate of the brass alloys in chloride solutions, while the increase of Pb content in Cu–38Zn–Pb decreases the corrosion rate of the alloy. Long immersion time of the alloys in the aqueous electrolyte improves their stability due to the formation of passive film on the alloy surface. The breakdown potential is shifted to more negative direction with increasing the Zn content, whereas it shifts towards positive values with increasing Pb content. Equivalent circuit model for the electrode/electrolyte interface under different conditions was proposed to illustrate the electrochemical processes taking place at the interface. The electrochemical behavior of the different alloys was discussed in view of the fitting results.  相似文献

In this paper, we fill a gap in the literature by studying the problem of Arabic handwritten digit recognition. The performances of different classification and feature extraction techniques on recognizing Arabic digits are going to be reported to serve as a benchmark for future work on the problem. The performance of well known classifiers and feature extraction techniques will be reported in addition to a novel feature extraction technique we present in this paper that gives a high accuracy and competes with the state-of-the-art techniques. A total of 54 different classifier/features combinations will be evaluated on Arabic digits in terms of accuracy and classification time. The results are analyzed and the problem of the digit ‘0’ is identified with a proposed method to solve it. Moreover, we propose a strategy to select and design an optimal two-stage system out of our study and, hence, we suggest a fast two-stage classification system for Arabic digits which achieves as high accuracy as the highest classifier/features combination but with much less recognition time.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple, closed-form, analytical method for the analysis of self-excited induction generators (SEIG). In this method no numerical solution methods are required to obtain the frequency of operation of the SEIG, and an explicit analytical expression for the operating frequency corresponding to any speed, load impedance, and excitation capacitance is derived. The validity of the proposed method was checked by comparing its results with the results obtained by the use of the conventional methods in which numerical solution methods must be used. The results obtained from the proposed analytical method are identical at no-load condition and almost identical for other loading conditions, with the results obtained from previously used numerical methods.  相似文献

Tachycardia-dependent QT/T alternans occurs in patients with the congenital or idiopathic form of long-QT syndrome (LQTS) and may presage the onset of polymorphic ventricular tachyarrhythmias. To examine the electrophysiological basis of arrhythmogenicity of QT/T alternans in LQTS, the tridimensional repolarization pattern of QT/T alternans was studied in the anthopleurin-A model of LQTS, a surrogate for LQT3. In 11 anesthetized mongrel puppies, tridimensional repolarization and activation patterns were analyzed from 256 to 384 unipolar electrograms. Cardiac repolarization was evaluated as the activation-recovery interval (ARI) of local electrograms. To induce QT/T alternans, the pacing cycle length (CL) was abruptly shortened in steps of 50 ms from a basic drive of 1000 ms. ARIs were calculated at epicardial (Epi), midmyocardial (Mid), and endocardial (End) sites. ARI restitution at each site was assessed by using a single premature stimulation delivered after the basic drive. ARI alternans occurred at longer CLs at Mid sites compared with End and Epi sites, and the magnitude of alternans at Mid sites was greater. Two factors contributed to the modulation of ARI during QT/T alternans: (1) differences in restitution kinetics at Mid sites, characterized by larger DeltaARI and a slower time constant (tau), and (2) differences in diastolic intervals resulting in different input to restitution at the same constant CL. These 2 factors could explain not only the onset of alternans at Mid sites at longer CLs but also the critical observation that ARI dispersion between Epi and Mid sites during alternans was greater than during the slower basic CL. Marked ARI alternans could be present in local electrograms without manifest alternation of the QT/T segment in the surface ECG. The latter was seen at critically short CLs associated with reversal of the gradient of ARI between Epi and Mid sites, with a consequent reversal of polarity of the intramyocardial QT wave in alternate cycles. The arrhythmogenicity of QT/T alternans was primarily due to the greater degree of spatial dispersion of repolarization during alternans than during slower rates not associated with alternans. This could result in functional conduction block and reentrant ventricular tachyarrhythmias during the fixed drive associated with alternans.  相似文献

We have previously shown that alpha1-adrenergic activation inhibited beta-adrenergic-stimulated L-type Ca2+ current (I(Ca)). To determine the role of protein kinase C (PKC) in this regulation, the inositol trisphosphate pathway was bypassed by direct activation of PKC with 4beta-phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA). To minimize Ca2+-induced Ca2+ inactivation, Ba2+ current (I(Ba)) was recorded through Ca2+ channels in adult rat ventricular myocytes. We found that PMA (0.1 micromol/L) consistently inhibited basal I(Ba) by 40.5+/-7.4% and isoproterenol (ISO, 0.1 micromol/L)-stimulated I(Ba) by 48.9+/-7.8%. These inhibitory effects were not observed with the inactive phorbol ester analogue alpha-phorbol 12,13-didecanoate (0.1 micromol/L). To identify the PKC isozymes that mediate these PMA effects, we intracellularly applied peptide inhibitors of a subclass of PKC isozymes, the C2-containing cPKCs. These peptides (betaC2-2 and betaC2-4) specifically inhibit the translocation and function of C2-containing isozymes (alpha-PKC, betaI-PKC, and betaII-PKC), but not the C2-less isozymes (delta-PKC and epsilon-PKC). We first used the pseudosubstrate peptide (0.1 micromol/L in the pipette), which inhibits the catalytic activity of all the PKC isozymes, and found that PMA-induced inhibition of ISO-stimulated I(Ba) was reduced to 16.8+/-7.4% but was not affected by the scrambled pseudosubstrate peptide. The effects of PMA on basal and ISO-stimulated I(Ba) were then determined in the presence of C2-derived peptides or control peptides. When the pipette contained 0.1 micromol/L of betaC2-2 or betaC2-4, PMA-induced inhibition of basal I(Ba) was 26.1+/-4.5% and 23.6+/-2.2%, respectively. Similarly, ISO-stimulated I(Ba) was inhibited by 29.9+/-6.6% and 29.3+/-7.8% in the presence of betaC2-2 and betaC2-4, respectively. In contrast, there was no significant change in the effect of PMA in the presence of control peptides, scrambled betaC2-4, or pentalysine. Finally, PMA-induced inhibition of basal and ISO-stimulated I(Ba) was almost completely abolished in cells dialyzed with both betaC2-2 and betaC2-4. Together, these data suggest a role for C2-containing isozymes in mediating PMA-induced inhibition of L-type Ca2+ channel activity.  相似文献

A direct behavioral assay was conducted to investigate the preferred habitat for host searching by the parasitoid Bracon hebetor (Hymenoptera: Braconidae). The effects of mating, feeding and post-emergence experience on female parasitoid choices of searching sites were also examined. B. hebetor appears to be directed to the habitat of its host through chemical cues originating from the host larvae, frass and adults. These cues elicit a series of directed responses by the female. Generally, the data showed that flour containing 30-day-old larvae was preferred by B. hebetor females. This was followed by the flour containing the frass, then the adult host, and finally the flour containing 10-day-old larvae. It appears that cues produced by young larvae were the weakest whereas cues produced by older ones were the strongest. Feeding seemed to be important in the location of the proper searching site. Although the cues were normally learned by the immature stages of the parasitoid, and were subsequently manifested in their responses as adults, adult experience increased the ability of the parasitoid to locate the suitable habitat for searching.  相似文献

A state-space oriented approach to analyze dynamic errors in a hybrid computer simulation loop is presented. The approach helps to predict the value of the sampling interval that achieves stable simulation with a prescribed accuracy. A pre-perturbation technique to compensate for the serious digital execution time delay error is then developed. It has the advantages that it does not require additional computer hardware and/or software and its utilization does not result in generation of any extraneous modes.The approach points out the contribution of each individual error source in the hybrid computer loop to the overall simulation accuracy.  相似文献

The electrochemical behavior of AZ91D and Ti–6Al–4V alloys was investigated in simulated body fluid (SBF) at 37 °C. The aim of the present study was to evaluate their corrosion performance through the analysis of corrosion resistance variation with time, using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests and corrosion current density using potentiodynamic polarization measurements. Very low current density was obtained for Ti–6Al–4V alloy compared to that of AZ91D alloy, indicating a typical passive behavior for Ti alloy. EIS results exhibited high corrosion resistance indicating a highly stable film on titanium alloy compared to magnesium alloy in SBF.  相似文献

Reliable, controlled doping of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides will enable the realization of next-generation electronic, logic-memory, and magnetic devices based on these materials. However, to date, accurate control over dopant concentration and scalability of the process remains a challenge. Here, a systematic study of scalable in situ doping of fully coalesced 2D WSe2 films with Re atoms via metal–organic chemical vapor deposition is reported. Dopant concentrations are uniformly distributed over the substrate surface, with precisely controlled concentrations down to <0.001% Re achieved by tuning the precursor partial pressure. Moreover, the impact of doping on morphological, chemical, optical, and electronic properties of WSe2 is elucidated with detailed experimental and theoretical examinations, confirming that the substitutional doping of Re at the W site leads to n-type behavior of WSe2. Transport characteristics of fabricated back-gated field-effect-transistors are directly correlated to the dopant concentration, with degrading device performances for doping concentrations exceeding 1% of Re. The study demonstrates a viable approach to introducing true dopant-level impurities with high precision, which can be scaled up to batch production for applications beyond digital electronics.  相似文献

Recently multiserver queues with setup times have been extensively studied because they have applications in power-saving data centers. A challenging model is the M/M/c/Setup queue where a server is turned off when it is idle and is turned on if there are some waiting jobs. Recently, Gandhi et al. (in: Proceedings of the ACM SIGMETRICS, pp. 153–166, ACM, 2013; Queueing Syst. 77(2):177–209, 2014) obtain the generating function of the number of jobs in the system, as well as the Laplace transform of the response time using the recursive renewal reward approach and the distributional Little’s law (Keilson and Servi in Oper Res Lett 7(5):223– 227, 1988). In this paper, we derive exact solutions for the joint stationary queue length distribution of the same model using two alternative methodologies: generating function approach and matrix analytic method. The generating function approach yields exact closed form expressions for the joint stationary queue length distribution and the conditional decomposition formula. On the other hand, the matrix analytic approach leads to an exact recursive algorithm to calculate the joint stationary distribution and performance measures so as to provide some application insights.  相似文献
