Seven cardiac electrophysiology stimulators from four manufacturers (Biotronik, Bloom, Digitimer and Medtronic) in common current use are reviewed. The stimulators differ in the features provided and the design adopted to achieve these features. The number of output channels ranges from one to four, the number of extra-stimuli available ranges from two to six, and these can be delivered as a variety of sequences. Some of the stimulators (Digitimer and Bloom) are modular while others (Biotronik and Medtronic 532 series) are of an integrated design comprising a single physical unit. The design of the Medtronic EP-2 has both integrated and modular characteristics. The features of the stimulators associated with input, output, control and the user interface are specifically reviewed. The features are also compared against the published recommendations of the American Heart Association. In addition, a summary of stimulator user comments from a number of electrophysiology centres is presented. All of the stimulators fulfil, or are close to fulfilling, basic electrophysiological requirements, but some provide more complex facilities such as would be required by specialist centres.  相似文献

By transmitting 40 channels over 300 km of TeraLight fibre, it is shown that optical differential phase shift keying can be used in 100 GHz-spaced 40 Gbit/s systems, with direct detection and a simple receiving filter. Chromatic dispersion tolerance around 300 ps/nm is also measured, compared to 70 ps/nm for NRZ.  相似文献

The authors present new results on extended electrical tuning, fast spatial switching, and optically controlled wavelength conversion characteristics for the recently developed InP-based Y-laser structure. The devices have a 80 nm thick bulk InGaAsP active layer and are completely grown by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. The facets at both ends of the chip are as-cleaved without antireflective coating. The addressable range for electrically controlled wavelength switching was extended to the record value of 28 nm. When operated as a lossless 1:2 optical space switch, fiber-to-fiber gain >0 dB, extinction ratio >50 dB and high speed operation up to 1 Gb/s were shown. 50 GHz-spaced 80 × 40 Gbit/s WDM transmission over 300 km of TeraLightTM fibre is demonstrated without polarisation demultiplexing, using the PSBT format. A record capacity of 3.2 Tbit/s is thus achieved over the C-band only, with a spectral efficiency of 0.8 bit/s/Hz  相似文献

Preoperative factors and outcome were studied after lunate decompression for Kienb?ck's disease. Twenty-three patients treated with radial shortening or scaphoid-trapezium-trapezoid fusion were evaluated. The mean follow-up was 59 months. Neither good nor excellent outcomes were found with either lunate-preserving procedure when the preoperative radioscaphoid angle was greater than 60 degrees. Outcomes in the radial shortening osteotomy group were superior to those in the group treated with scaphoid-trapezium-trapezoid fusion. Lunate collapse was not prevented by either treatment method. Lunate index, carpal height, and staging did not correlate with outcome. Measurement of radioscaphoid angle provides predictive information regarding the outcome of stage III (Decoulx/Lichtman) Kienb?ck's disease treated with radial shortening or scaphoid-trapezium-trapezoid fusion.  相似文献

Cell-mediated immunity (CMI) to homologous spermatozoal antigens was studied in sixty-two males following vasectomy of a duration of 1-10 years. A group of twenty-two normal, fertile non-vasectomized males was also included in the study. The inhibition in the leucocyte migration test (LMT), in the presence of spermatozoal antigen, was taken as an index of CMI. Twenty of the sixty-two vasectomized males (32.2 percent) showed a positive LMT reaction. When the results were analysed with reference to the duration of vasectomy, it was noted that four cases each (22.2 percent), showed a positive LMT reaction in the groups 0-2 years, and 3.5 years. On the other hand twelve cases gave a positive reaction in the group 6-10 years (46.1 percent). It appears that the incidence of CMI to spermatozoa increases with the duration in vasectomy.  相似文献

Alkyl sterols epimeric at C-24 isolated from the Atlantic scallop,Placopecten magellanicus, were analyzed by high resolution (220 MHz) nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry, and their spectra compared with authentic samples. This technique was used to assign absolute stereochemistry in epimeric mixtures of 24 R and S 24-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol, (22E)-24-methylcholesta-5,22-dien-3β-ol and 24-ethylcholest-5-en-3β-ol. Wafer-testable distributed feedback (DFB) lasers and monolithically integrated monitor diodes are realized to replace the time consuming and expensive single-chip test procedure in semiconductor laser fabrication process. Laser-end facets and integrated monitor diodes are defined on 1.5-μm InGaAsP/InP multiple quantum well (MQW) DFB laser wafers by reactive ion beam etching (RIBE). Using terminal electrical noise (TEN) measurement, the lasers are characterized directly on the wafer with respect to threshold current and single mode operation. The small proline-rich (SPR) proteins are components of the cornified cell envelope of stratified squamous epithelia and become cross-linked to other proteins by transglutaminases (TGases). The SPR2 family is the most complex, as it consists of several differentially expressed members of the same size. To explore their physical and cross-linking properties, we have expressed in bacteria a human SPR2 family member, and purified it to homogeneity. By circular dichroism, it possesses no alpha or beta structure but has some organized structure associated with the central peptide repeat domain. The TGase 1, 2, and 3 enzymes expressed in epithelia use the recombinant SPR2 protein as a complete substrate in vitro, but with widely differing kinetic efficiencies, and in different ways. With TGase 1, only one glutamine on the head domain and one lysine on the tail domain were used for limited interchain cross-linking. With TGase 3, multiple head and tail domain residues were used for extensive interchain cross-linking. The total usage of glutamine and lysine residues in vitro by TGase 3 was similar to that seen in earlier in vivo studies. We conclude that SPR2 proteins are cross-linked in epithelia primarily by the TGase 3 enzyme, a minor extent by TGase 1, and probably not by TGase 2.  相似文献

This work assesses the prospects for high-speed all-optical wavelength conversion using the simple optical interaction with the gain in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) via the interband carrier recombination. Operation and design guidelines for conversion speeds above 10 Gb/s are described and the various tradeoffs are discussed. Experiments at bit rates up to 40 Gb/s are presented for both cross-gain modulation (XGM) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) in SOAs demonstrating the high-speed capability of these techniques  相似文献
