Nonlinear adaptive filters based on a variety of neural network models have been used successfully for system identification and noise-cancellation in a wide class of applications. An important problem in data communications is that of channel equalization, i.e., the removal of interferences introduced by linear or nonlinear message corrupting mechanisms, so that the originally transmitted symbols can be recovered correctly at the receiver. In this paper we introduce an adaptive recurrent neural network (RNN) based equalizer whose small size and high performance makes it suitable for high-speed channel equalization. We propose RNN based structures for both trained adaptation and blind equalization, and we evaluate their performance via extensive simulations for a variety of signal modulations and communication channel models. It is shown that the RNN equalizers have comparable performance with traditional linear filter based equalizers when the channel interferences are relatively mild, and that they outperform them by several orders of magnitude when either the channel's transfer function has spectral nulls or severe nonlinear distortion is present. In addition, the small-size RNN equalizers, being essentially generalized IIR filters, are shown to outperform multilayer perceptron equalizers of larger computational complexity in linear and nonlinear channel equalization cases.  相似文献

SedLog is a free multi-platform software package for creating graphic sediment logs providing an intuitive graphical user interface. The graphic sediment logs generated by SedLog can be exported as PDF, Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), or JPEG for use by other drawing applications or for publications. Log data can be imported and exported in Comma Separated Values (CSV) format. The logs can also be printed to any paper size the user wants. Zoom In, Zoom Out, Fit page, Fit Height and Fit Width facilities are also provided to enable the user to customise the workspace size.  相似文献

The effect of periodic loss on the performance of refractive-index gratings has been studied in detail. It is shown that the loss periodicity and relative phase strongly affects the symmetry of the reflection, transmission, and loss spectra. This asymmetry is explained successfully through consideration of the overlap between the standing-wave intensity distribution and the periodic loss pattern.  相似文献

The continuous increase of the computational power of programmable processors has established them as an attractive design alternative, for implementation of the most computationally intensive applications, like video compression. To enforce this trend, designers implementing applications on programmable platforms have to be provided with reliable and in-depth data and instruction analysis that will allow for the early selection of the most appropriate application for a given set of specifications. To address this need, we introduce a new methodology for early and accurate estimation of the number of instructions required for the execution of an application, together with the number of data memory transfers on a programmable processor. The high-level estimation is achieved by a series of mathematical formulas; these describe not only the arithmetic operations of an application, but also its control and addressing operations, if it is executed on a programmable core. The comparative study, which is done using three popular processors (ARM, MIPS, and Pentium), shows the high efficiency and accuracy of the methodology proposed, in terms of the number of executed (micro-)instructions (i.e. performance) and the number of data memory transfers (i.e. memory power consumption). Using the proposed methodology we estimated an average deviation of 23% in our estimated figures compared with the measurements taken from the real execution on the CPUs. Abstract

The Particulate Measurement Programme (PMP) works on the development of an improved method for the exhaust particulate matter (PM) measurement, which can include, if feasible and necessary, the measurement of particle number. The French PMP subgroup, composed of IFP, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Renault, and UTAC, has defined a measurement protocol based on electrical low-pressure impactor (ELPI) and conducted an interlaboratory test to evaluate its performances. The technical program was based on tests carried out on three Euro3 passenger cars (one gasoline operating under stoichiometric conditions, one Diesel, and one Diesel equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF)) that were tested on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The regulated pollutants are also measured, as indicators of test repeatability and good working conditions. The interlaboratory reproducibility value of the tunnel background tests is quite high (337%) due to low particle numbers. The repeatability values increase at low particle numbers independently of the vehicle used. On the NEDC, the reproducibility of total particle number is 59, 47, and 131% for the gasoline, Diesel, and DPF-equipped Diesel vehicles, respectively (compare to 67, 29, and 164% for PM collected on filters). These results show that the protocol used in this study allows a reliable measurement of exhaust particle number in the case of vehicles emitting at least two orders of magnitude more than the tunnel background. In the other cases, the measurement variability is too high, especially for regulatory purposes, without taking into account other metrological aspects, such as calibration.  相似文献

In this paper we present a new location management protocol for wireless ATM networks, called LMCP (Location Management and Control Protocol). This protocol is based on the PNNI (Private Network-to-Network Interface) routing functionality to advertise the movement of mobile terminals within predefined areas. Moreover, LMCP uses specialized entities to store and retrieve the current location area of the mobile terminals. These entities are located in mobility enhanced switches that control the execution of mobility procedures (e.g., handovers). The main benefit from the application of LMCP is the establishment of connections that do not contain any misrouted segments. Furthermore, it requires minor modifications to the PNNI and enables its inter-working with other location management mechanisms. The protocol is compared with other similar mechanisms, and its efficiency is demonstrated by the results of an analytical model.  相似文献

A prfA gene encoding polypeptide release factor RF1 was cloned from Thermus thermophilus. T thermophilus RF1 shares 68% homology with Escherichia coli RF1, and its overproduction reduced readthrough translation of UAG, not of UGA, in the lacZ gene. Rapid purification of T thermophilus RF1 was achieved by T7-RNA polymerase driven overexpression of T thermophilus RF1 protein with a C-terminal histidine tag.  相似文献

The effect of a thin metal film with positive dielectric permittivity on the performance of an optical-fibre surface-plasmon-wave polariser is presented. A dramatic improvement has been achieved with polarisation extinction ratios in excess of 45 dB over an extended range of superstrate refractive indices.<>  相似文献

We report the development of a polarization insensitive all fiber 2/spl times/2 acoustooptic switch based on twisting the waist of a null taper coupler. The polarization insensitivity is better than 0.2 dB, the device requires a drive power of <1 mW, and exhibits a switching time of <50 /spl mu/s and insertion loss of 0.1 dB.  相似文献
