This study presents investigations regarding visual inspection, dynamic testing, and finite-element modeling of an approximately 80-year old reinforced concrete tied-arch railway bridge that is still in service in Turkey. Investigations were conducted as part of a systematic periodic inspection along Ankara-Zonguldak railway line. The bridge is subject to heavy freight trains with increasing axle loads. Field tests such as material tests and dynamic tests were used to calibrate the finite-element model of the bridge. Detailed information regarding testing and model updating procedure is given. Based on test results, computer model was refined. The calibrated model of the bridge structure was then used for structural assessment and evaluation. Despite sufficient overall safety, local details were found to be problematic. Due to insufficient bond length in hanger-to-arch connection, a strengthening scheme using steel channel sections was proposed.  相似文献

A conventional cement grinding circuit is composed of a two compartment tube mill, a mill filter which collects the fine material inside the mill and a dynamic air separator where final product with required fineness is collected. In general the material fed to the circuit has a top size of 50 mm which is very coarse for the ball mill. For this purpose, later in 1980s, high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) has found applications as a pregrinder which increased throughput of the grinding circuit at the same fineness.In early applications, HPGR was operated in open circuit. But later as the operating principle of the equipment based on the compression, some portion of the HPGR discharge recycled back to improve efficiency of the mill or operated closed circuit with classifiers. Within this study effect of open and closed circuit HPGR applications on dry grinding circuit performance was examined. For this purpose sampling studies around three different cement grinding circuit were completed. In the first study, a circuit including open circuit HPGR, ball mill and air separator was sampled and chosen as the basic condition. As the final product size distribution is important for grinding circuit, model structure of each equipment was developed. The second and third surveys were carried out around closed circuit HPGR operation with V and VSK separator to develop models for the separators. Finally the separator models were used in basic condition to simulate closed circuit HPGR application.It was understood from the studies that closed circuit HPGR operation improved the overall circuit efficiency at the same final product fineness by reducing the specific energy consumption.  相似文献

As is well known, the behavior of systems of fine particles is strongly dependent on the size of the individual particles, and the size effects become increasingly important as the particles become progressively smaller. This study covers two different size analysis techniques, sieving and laser diffraction measurement, and constructs whole size distribution for different mill (ball and rod) products of some industrial minerals: barite and quartz minerals. A smooth overlap of corrected laser diffraction size distribution and sieve size distribution was obtained by applying the particle size with the apparent mean shape factor shifting to the right side of the curve for the rod-milled barite and ball- and rod-milled quartz. The apparent mean shape factors determined from the corrected particle size distributions were found to be 1.02 and 1.39 for ball- and rod-milled barite and 1.29 and 1.25 for ball- and rod-milled quartz, respectively. The results indicate that the ball-milled products of barite mineral have more regular (rounder in shape) particles than those of rod-milled barite, but there are not significant differences between the shape factors of ball- and rod-milled products of quartz mineral, i.e., both of them have irregular particles that deviate from spherical shape, as evident from the SEM pictures taken.  相似文献

We theoretically and experimentally illustrate a new apertured near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) technique, termed differential NSOM (DNSOM). It involves scanning a relatively large (e.g., 0.3-2 mum wide) rectangular aperture (or a detector) in the near-field of an object and recording detected power as a function of the scanning position. The image reconstruction is achieved by taking a two-dimensional derivative of the recorded power map. Unlike conventional apertured NSOM, the size of the rectangular aperture/detector does not determine the resolution in DNSOM; instead, the resolution is practically determined by the sharpness of the corners of the rectangular aperture/detector. Principles of DNSOM can also be extended to other aperture/detector geometries such as triangles and parallelograms.  相似文献

We present a simple processing technique that uses the concept of minimum-phase functions to improve frequency-domain optical coherence tomography systems. Our approach removes the autocorrelation noise and therefore increases both the accessible depth range and the recovery accuracy. To our knowledge, this is the first time that the concept of minimum-phase functions has been applied to improve optical coherence tomography.  相似文献

We demonstrate subpixel level color imaging capability on a lensfree incoherent on-chip microscopy platform. By using a nanostructured substrate, the incoherent emission from the object plane is modulated to create a unique far-field diffraction pattern corresponding to each point at the object plane. These lensfree diffraction patterns are then sampled in the far-field using a color sensor-array, where the pixels have three different types of color filters at red, green, and blue (RGB) wavelengths. The recorded RGB diffraction patterns (for each point on the structured substrate) form a basis that can be used to rapidly reconstruct any arbitrary multicolor incoherent object distribution at subpixel resolution, using a compressive sampling algorithm. This lensfree computational imaging platform could be quite useful to create a compact fluorescent on-chip microscope that has color imaging capability.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of using a dynamic geometry environment (DGE) together with inquiry-based explorations on the sixth grade students’ achievements in polygons and congruency and similarity of polygons. Two groups of sixth grade students were selected for this study: an experimental group composed of 66 students (34 boys and 32 girls); and a control group composed of 68 students (35 boys and 33 girls). The students in the experimental group taught with a DGE, while the students in the control group received textbook-based direct instruction. An achievement test was administered as pre-test, post-test, and delayed post-test in both groups. Qualitative data were collected through videotaped classroom observations. The results showed that the DGE together with open-ended explorations significantly improved students’ performances in polygons and congruency and similarity of polygons. Furthermore, students in the experimental group showed greater interest and motivation toward learning geometry compared to those in the control group whom often showed lack of interest and curiosity. Also, students’ comments and interpretations during lessons and tests were more accurate and advanced in the experimental group as they engage more in the DGE. Moreover, qualitative data suggested that boys showed greater interest in the computer-based learning environment than girls in the experimental groups although no significant gender effect on achievement was found.  相似文献

In the present study, we investigate the influence of boron oxide addition on magnetic and structural properties of some ferric compounds (BaFe12O19 and BiFeO3). Our studies have shown that small amounts of B2O3 addition improve the crystalline structure, and thus improve the magnetic properties effectively. For instance, remanence and saturation magnetization of hard magnetic BaFe12O19 increases by half. Similar behavior was also observed in the BiFeO3 system. There are two possible explanations for these improvements: (1) Boron atoms reside between the grains and improve the links between grains or (2) Boron substitutes for iron atoms and changes magnetic anisotropy and thus magnetic parameters.  相似文献
