The traditional approach to severe subglottic stenosis (SGS) in the pediatric age group is laryngotracheal reconstruction (LTR). This approach may be complex and multistaged, with variable and unpredictable success rates in the individual patient. Excellent results have been reported in adults who had severe SGS and underwent partial resection of the cricoid and primary thyrotracheal anastomosis. This procedure has not been widely reported in infants and children. We report our experience with this procedure in 16 pediatric patients with grade III or IV SGS. Eleven patients had multiple previous LTR operations. The preoperative evaluation, surgical techniques, postoperative care, complications, and final results are described and discussed. Fourteen patients were decannulated after the procedure, 1 patient needed a second open procedure prior to decannulation, and 1 patient with concomitant bronchopulmonary dysplasia remains cannulated, for an overall 94% decannulation rate. Fourteen patients have no limitation of respiration, and 1 patient has moderate exercise intolerance. The results of this series suggest that partial cricotracheal resection with primary anastomosis is a relatively safe and effective procedure for pediatric patients with severe SGS. 相似文献

Esophageal cancer (EC) is a life-threatening disease, demanding the discovery of new biomarkers and molecular targets for precision oncology. Aberrantly glycosylated proteins hold tremendous potential towards this objective. In the current study, a series of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC) and EC-derived circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were screened by immunoassays for the sialyl-Tn (STn) antigen, a glycan rarely expressed in healthy tissues and widely observed in aggressive gastrointestinal cancers. An ESCC cell model was glycoengineered to express STn and characterized in relation to cell proliferation and invasion in vitro. STn was found to be widely present in ESCC (70% of tumors) and in CTCs in 20% of patients, being associated with general recurrence and reduced survival. Furthermore, STn expression in ESCC cells increased invasion in vitro, while reducing cancer cells proliferation. In parallel, an ESCC mass spectrometry-based proteomics dataset, obtained from the PRIDE database, was comprehensively interrogated for abnormally glycosylated proteins. Data integration with the Target Score, an algorithm developed in-house, pinpointed the glucose transporter type 1 (GLUT1) as a biomarker of poor prognosis. GLUT1-STn glycoproteoforms were latter identified in tumor tissues in patients facing worst prognosis. Furthermore, healthy human tissues analysis suggested that STn glycosylation provided cancer specificity to GLUT1. In conclusion, STn is a biomarker of worst prognosis in EC and GLUT1-STn glycoforms may be used to increase its specificity on the stratification and targeting of aggressive ESCC forms. 相似文献

应用改良拉裂法,对286份甘蓝型油菜品种(系)进行裂角力测定.结果表明,抗裂角性状在现有甘蓝型油菜品种(系)中存在广泛变异.在146份甘蓝型杂交油菜品种(组合)中,裂角力变异范围0.82~ 2.87N(牛顿),平均裂角力1.83N,变异系数22.11%;裂角力小于1N的有3份(占2.05%),1~2N之间的96份(占65.75%),在2~3N之间的47份(占32.19%),没有检测到裂角力大于3N的品种或组合.在140份甘蓝型常规油菜品种(系)中,裂角力变异范围0.58 ~ 3.47N,平均裂角力1.94N,变异系数31.55%,均高于杂交油菜,其中裂角力小于1N的6份(占4.29%),在1~2N之间的76份(占54.29%),在2~3N之间的49份(占35%),大于3N的9份(占6.42%).与角果和籽粒性状的相关分析表明,油菜角果的裂角力值与单角壳重、单位面积壳重、千粒重达极显著正相关,与每角粒数和角果宽度达到显著正相关.分析杂种与亲本恢复系之间的关系,发现杂种裂角力与恢复系的角果宽度、单角壳重、单位面积壳重、千粒重等性状呈极显著正相关,与粒壳比呈极显著负相关.说明角果大小显著影响油菜的抗裂角特性,角果大、果壳厚、千粒重高等可以作为筛选抗裂角油菜的形态指标.在杂交油菜育种中选用大角大粒恢复系亲本能有效提高杂交油菜的抗耐裂角性. 相似文献

The relationship between surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) intensity and the rate of deposition during silver-island film preparation was examined, using zinc tetraphenylporphine (ZnTPP) as the adsorbate. The effect of the deposition rate on the optical properties of the films at specific wavelengths was also analyzed. The data show that the film extinction (the term extinction is used rather than absorption because the spectra have not been corrected for reflection or scattering losses) increases exponentially at 514 and 458 nm as the deposition rate is decreased. SERRS intensities also increase exponentially at these two excitation wavelengths with a decrease in the deposition rate. The optical density is linearly related to the SERRS intensity, and maximal enhancement is observed for films with the greatest extinction at these excitation wavelengths. In contrast, neither the extinction at 406 nm nor the SERRS scattering intensities resulting from excitation at this wavelength differ substantially. The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) intensity and the electronic spectra of 4,4'-bipyridine (BP) adsorbed onto silver films as a function deposition rate were also examined. The behavior of the nonresonantly enhanced BP is comparable to that of the resonantly enhanced ZnTPP samples. The effects of the surface morphology, as determined from transmission electron micrographs of the films at various deposition rates, on the corresponding electronic spectra and SERS/SERRS spectra are described. 相似文献

This article is an evaluation of the 2-period crossover design in which some subjects receive Treatment A for 1 test period followed by Treatment B for the next test period while others receive the opposite order. Use of J. E. Grizzle's (1965) carryover effects model for this design is illustrated with computational examples. E. C. Poulton and P. R. Freeman's (see record 1966-09391-001) distinction among symmetric, 1-way asymmetric, and 2-way asymmetric transfer is compared with a similar classification made by M. Hills and P. Armitage (1979). Algebraic relations between carryover effects and transfer effects are determined and illustrated with examples.
