This paper studies a generalization of the order acceptance and scheduling problem in a single-machine environment where a pool consisting of firm planned orders as well as potential orders is available from which an over-demanded company can select. The capacity available for processing the accepted orders is limited and each order is characterized by a known processing time, delivery date, revenue and a weight representing a penalty per unit-time delay beyond the delivery date. We prove that the existence of a constant-factor approximation algorithm for this problem is unlikely. We propose two linear formulations that are solved using an IP solver and we devise two exact branch-and-bound procedures able to solve instances with up to 50 jobs within reasonable CPU times. We compare the efficiency and quality of the results obtained using the different solution approaches.  相似文献

Portable devices equipped with imaging, video, and audio functionality are proliferating rapidly, and manufacturers are shipping hundreds of millions of such devices. A general-purpose processor (GPP) typically consumes tens of watts to nearly a hundred watts, while a high-performance digital still cameras main processor consumes only hundreds of milliwatts to nearly half a watt. Designing a mediaprocessor with performance comparable to that of a GPP at a power budget two orders of magnitude lower and a cost more than an order of magnitude lower poses quite a challenge. To meet requirements and reduce overall system cost, mediaprocessor designers must integrate the device with an extensive set of peripherals. For performance, cost, and power reasons, application-specific integrated circuits have traditionally been the most popular choice for portable media systems. We discuss the architecture of the DM310, a highly integrated portable digital mediaprocessor, manufactured in a 0.13-micron process.  相似文献

Maternal depression is associated with problematic parenting and the development of emotional and behavior problems in children and adolescents. While emotional regulatory abilities are likely to influence emotional exchanges between parents and teens, surprisingly little is known about the role of emotion regulation during parent–child interactions, particularly in high-risk families. Respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA) has been widely linked to emotion regulatory abilities in recent research, and the current study investigated RSA and maternal depression in relation to dyadic flexibility, as well as mutuality of negative and positive affect displayed during three discussion tasks between 59 mother–adolescent pairs (age 11–17 years). Dyadic flexibility was predicted by the interaction of maternal depression, maternal RSA, and teen RSA, with higher maternal RSA predicting greater dyadic flexibility, particularly in highest risk dyads (i.e., elevated maternal depression and lower teen RSA). Teen RSA interacted with maternal depression to predict mutual negative affect, serving as a protective factor. Finally, maternal and teen RSA interacted to predict mutual positive affect, with maternal RSA buffering against low teen RSA to predict higher mutual positive affect. Results support the role of RSA in affectively laden interactions between parents and adolescents, particularly in the face of maternal depression. Precise materials integration in nanostructures is fundamental for future electronic and photonic devices. We demonstrate Si, Ge, and SiGe nanostructure direct-write with deterministic size, geometry, and placement control. The biased probe of an atomic force microscope (AFM) reacts diphenylsilane or diphenylgermane to direct-write carbon-free Si, Ge, and SiGe nano and heterostructures. Parallel direct-write is available on large areas by substituting the AFM probe with conducting microstructured stamps. This facile strategy can be easily expanded to a broad variety of semiconductor materials through precursor selection.  相似文献

A new congestion control scheme is analyzed for an ATM multiplexer node. This scheme is based on the leaky bucket and virtual leaky bucket techniques, and utilizes the interaction between the ATM and higher layers, in a hybrid asynchronous transfer mode/time division multiple access (ATM/TDMA) network. The transport users are assumed to be generic ATM sources, who modulate their end-to-end flow control parameters, i.e. protocol data unit size in case of video and voice users, and window size in case of data users, based on the congestion status. Simple analytical formulas are derived for congestion criteria, to represent the required bandwidth to support various classes of service, i.e. video, voice, data, etc. with their own performance requirements. An ATM multiplexer node buffer is analyzed using a modulated poisson process queuing model with bulk arrival and bulk service of cells. The ATM multiplexer node congestion performance criteria, i.e. the mean probabilities of ATM multiplexer node congestion, cell generation, cell discarding, buffer content and buffer overflow, are evaluated with and without the congestion control schemes.  相似文献

We study a single-machine scheduling problem that is a generalization of a number of problems for which computational procedures have already been published. Each job has a processing time, a release date, a due date, a deadline, and a weight representing the penalty per unit-time delay beyond the due date. The goal is to schedule all jobs such that the total weighted tardiness penalty is minimized and both the precedence constraints as well as the time windows (implied by the release dates and the deadlines) are respected. We develop a branch-and-bound algorithm that solves the problem to optimality. Computational results show that our approach is effective in solving medium-sized instances, and that it compares favorably with existing methods for special cases of the problem.  相似文献

The modulus Spectroscopy of Lead Potassium Titanium Niobate (Pb0.95K0.1Ti0.25Nb1.8O6, PKTN) Ceramics was investigated in the frequency range from 45 Hz to 5 MHz and the temperature, from 30 to 600 °C. XRD analysis in PKTN indicated a orthorhombic structure with lattice parameters a = 18.0809 Å, b = 18.1909 Å and c = 3.6002 Å. The dielectric anomaly with a peak was observed at 510 °C. Variation of εI and εII with frequency at different temperatures exhibit high values, which reflects the effect of space charge polarization and/or conduction ion motion. The electrical relaxation in ionically conducting PKTN ceramic analyzed in terms of Impedance and Modulus formalism. The Cole–Cole plots of impedance were drawn at different temperatures. The dielectric modulus, which describes the dielectric relaxation behaviour is fitted to the Kohlrausch exponential function. Near the phase transition temperature, a stretched exponential parameter β indicating the degree of distribution of the relaxation time has a small value. From the AC conductivity measurements the activation energy near phase transition temperature (T C°C) has been found to different from that of the above and below T C. The temperature dependence of electrical modulus has been studied and results are discussed.  相似文献

The mechanical and structural properties of five formulations of a novel melt processed poly‐ethylene terephthalate (PET)‐hemp fibers composite were determined, followed by a numerical investigation of their thermoformability using the ThermoForm® code. The composites' linear viscoelastic properties were determined by small amplitude oscillatory shear tests and their viscoelastic behavior characterized by the Christensen's model. The forming pressure load required by the numerical analysis was derived from the Redlich–Kwong's real gas equation of state. The air flow's influence on the thickness of the thermoformed part, as well as the stress and the energy required for the process were analyzed. Our observations indicate little influence of the constitutive equations of the investigated formulations on the final thickness distribution of the thermoformed part; moreover, the time and energy required for the process showed no clear variation with the fiber load. Abstract

Two impact assessment tools, Toro’s recent method and Leopold’s matrix, were used in a complementary manner to predict the impacts of constructing a hydroelectric power plant in eastern Cameroon. We chose these two tools because of their relative simplicity, objectivity and good weighting of environmental indicator values compared to others. While the recent Toro’s method was more effective in terms of predicting impact importance, we found that the old Leopold’s matrix is still best in terms of determining the magnitude of impacts of project activities, i.e. extensiveness. These methodologies can be used in a complementary manner because they give a good weighting of indicator values of importance and extensiveness of the environment. Methodologies too complicated should be avoided. Finally, we recommend that projects predicted to affect habitats of high conservation value be displaced, or if not possible, abandoned because such areas are of great importance for the maintenance of biodiversity and environmental stability of our planet.  相似文献
