In this article we examined aspects of negotiation within a persuasion framework. Specifically, we investigated how the provision of arguments that justified the first offer in a negotiation affected the behavior of the parties, namely, how it influenced counteroffers and settlement prices. In a series of 4 experiments and 2 pilot studies, we demonstrated that when the generation of counterarguments was easy, negotiators who did not add arguments to their first offers achieved superior results compared with negotiators who used arguments to justify their first offer. We hypothesized and provided evidence that adding arguments to a first offer was likely to cause the responding party to search for counterarguments, and this, in turn, led him or her to present counteroffers that were further away from the first offer. We shall present a review of semiconductor spin-based implementation schemes for the realization of quantum information/computation solid-state devices. After briefly describing the fundamentals of quantum computation theory, we shall introduce and discuss potential implementation schemes based on the spin degrees of freedom in semiconductor nanostructures. More specifically, we shall describe an implementation scheme for quantum information processing in which the spin degrees of freedom of electrons confined to a quantum dot are the computational degrees of freedom, and spins are manipulated/controlled through interaction between trionic states created by interband optical transitions by ultrafast sequences of multicolor laser pulses. We will also review briefly an adiabatic method for operating the two-qubit gate that avoids the main imperfections present in real quantum dots: exciton decay, hole mixing, and phonon decoherence.  相似文献

2‐Hydroxybiphenyl 3‐monooxygenase is a flavin‐containing NADH‐dependent aromatic hydroxylase that oxidizes a broad range of 2‐substituted phenols. In order to modulate its activity and selectivity, several residues in the active site pocket were investigated by saturation mutagenesis. Variant M321A demonstrated altered regioselectivity by oxidizing 3‐hydroxybiphenyl for the first time, thus enabling the production of a new antioxidant, 3,4‐dihydroxybiphenyl, with similar ferric reducing capacity to the well‐studied piceatannol. The crystal structure of M321A was determined (2.78 Å), and molecular docking of the 3‐substituted phenol provided a rational explanation for the altered regioselectivity. Furthermore, HbpA was found to possess pro‐S enantioselectivity towards the production of several chiral sulfoxides, whereas variant M321F exhibited improved enantioselectivity. Based on the biochemical characterization of several mutants, it was suggested that Trp97 stabilized the substrate in the active site, Met223 was involved in NADH entrance or binding to the active site, and Pro320 might facilitate FAD movement.  相似文献

Utilizing the Pauli-blocking mechanism we show that shining circular polarized light on a singly-charged quantum dot induces spin dependent fluorescence. Employing the quantum-jump technique we demonstrate that this resonance luminescence, due to a spin dependent optical excitation, serves as an excellent readout mechanism for measuring the spin state of a single electron confined to a quantum dot.  相似文献
