Narrow-band correction of the residual amplitude modulation in frequency-modulation spectroscopy

We have developed a narrow-band controller in the MHz range, based on a field-programmable gate array. It is used to control the probe beam intensity in frequency-modulated spectroscopy experiments with an acoustooptic modulator. The residual amplitude modulation at the modulation frequency (2.5 MHz) is reduced by 50 dB. The first-harmonic detection of the signals is operated in saturation spectroscopy of I/sub 2/ at 514.5 nm and 501.7 nm. A reduction of the background noise and a large increase in the signal-to-noise ratio are obtained.     

Radiation demineralised bone enhanced osteoinductive capacity after transplantation

Using a mediating alkyne gas during the radiation treatment prevents the degradation of natural and synthetic polysaccharides and proteins. The product has higher viscosity and is more elastic than the original material and, therefore, gives enhanced functionality. Protein, within demineralised bone, too can be modified to give enhanced osteoinductive capacity after transplantation. Thus new functionalities can be achieved from the new products produced in food and medical products.     

Delayed neurological symptoms from the spontaneous migration of a bullet in the lumbosacral spinal canal. Case report

In a patient wounded by a gunshot in the abdomen, the bullet was radiologically located intradurally at S1 level. Although she had no neurological deficit at admission, she developed pain and motor weakness a few days later. At operation the bullet was found at L4 level and its removal resulted in complete neurological recovery.

主要采用小波分析方法研究了四气门汽油机缸内空气运动的频率结构。在一台四气门汽油机上 ,使用激光多普勒测速仪 (L DA)在倒拖工况下测量了气缸内的滚流运动 ,使用了 MATL AB 5 .1数学工具包中的小波分析方法对试验结果进行数据处理 ,得到了时域和频域分解速度信息。从这些信息中可以清楚地看到滚流 (低频湍流 )在压缩末期破碎并形成高频湍流的现象

Determining actual LNAPL plume thickness: review and case study in a fractured aquifer

Determining the thickness of a LNAPL (light non-aqueous phase liquid) hydrocarbon plume in the fractured rock surrounding a borehole is a very important aspect in determining the quantity and degree of contamination of the groundwater and soil, as well as deciding on applicable remediation measures. This review aims to compare some of the field and empirical methods to eventually propose a method of confirming the plausibility of the determined thickness. General insight is supplied relating to the occurrence of groundwater in the Earth’s crust, the basic principles of multiphase flow and the properties of the three fluids of importance, being water, Jet A-1 fuel and air. From the methods applied, the field bail-down method of Hughes et al. and the mathematical approach according to CONCAWE supplied reasonable results, with the Zillox and Muntzer equation providing no rational outcome due to changing water levels from regular bailing of the LNAPL. Furthermore, practically none of these methods have been developed for deep, fractured aquifers. By plotting regular depths to water and fuel on the abscissa axis with free product thickness on the ordinate, the depth to water and depth to fuel linear plots will intersect where the free product thickness equals zero. This indicates the static water level (i.e., the ground water level prior to hydrocarbon contamination) and by subtracting this from the free product depth, a maximum product thickness is obtained.

一种考虑电压岛边界约束的多电压布图算法

多电压设计(multiple supply voltage,MSV)是降低SoC功耗的有效方法之一.为便于电压岛供电引脚的放置,提出了一种考虑电压岛边界约束的多电压布图算法.首先,基于切分树表示的布图解特点,提出一种边界检查算法快速确定所有模块的边界信息.其次,以优化功耗为目标采用改进动态规划方法进行多电压分配并构建电压岛.最后,以模拟退火算法作为搜索引擎对芯片的面积、线长和功耗进行协同优化.为减少SA迭代次数,采用了一个两阶段的降温策略.对GSRC电路的实验结果表明,该算法可获得满足边界约束的多电压布图,且和不考虑边界约束时相比,仅在功耗上平均增加5.2％.     

Using formal methods to increase confidence in a home network system implementation: a case study

A home network system consists of multiple networked appliances, intended to provide more convenient and comfortable living for home users. Before being deployed, one has to guarantee the correctness, the safety, and the security of the system. Here, we present the approach chosen to validate the Java implementation of a home network system. We rely on the Java Modelling Language to formally specify and validate an abstraction of the system. This is a substantially revised version of our paper that appeared in the proceedings of the Workshop On Leveraging Applications of Formal Methods, Verification and Validation (ISoLA), Poitiers-Futuroscope, France, December 2007.
