In this paper, we present an interactive edutainment system for the children that leverages multimedia and RFID technologies in a seamless manner. The proposed system allows children to learn about new objects/entities by tapping on physical objects through a specially designed RFID-Bluetooth based Tangible User Interface (TUI) tool. The output of the system is delivered as a set of appropriate multimedia representations related to the objects being tapped. The TUI uses RFID technology for object identification and Bluetooth communication to transmit data to the computer where the system??s software is running. We incorporated our system in three games that allow children of different ages to benefit from the system??s functionalities and encourage them to interact with it.  相似文献

Range of applications for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is increasing rapidly. One class of such applications is Energy-Aware Wireless Positioning Systems for situation awareness. Localization deals with determining a target node’s position in WSN by analyzing signals exchanged between nodes. Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) represents the ratio between received signal power and a reference power, and is typically used to estimate distances between nodes. RSSI distance estimations are affected by many factors. This paper aims to enhance the accuracy of RSSI-based localization techniques in ZigBee Networks through studying the communication channel status between two nodes. As the network nodes are exposed to high noise levels, position estimation accuracy deteriorates. A novel adaptive localization scheme is proposed; Two-State Markov model with moving average is employed to detect unpredictable RSSI readings that may reflect badly on the estimation. The proposed scheme achieves better estimation accuracy, for example, the estimation error was reduced from 11.7 m to just 3 m using the proposed scheme.  相似文献

Heat pipes and two-phase thermosyphon systems are passive heat transfer systems that employ a two-phase cycle of a working fluid within a completely sealed system. Consequently, heat exchangers based on heat pipes have low thermal resistance and high effective thermal conductivity, which can reach up to the order of (105 W/(m K)). In energy recovery systems where the two streams should be unmixed, such as air-conditioning systems of biological laboratories and operating rooms in hospitals, heat pipe heat exchangers (HPHEs) are recommended. In this study, an experimental and theoretical study was carried out on the thermal performance of an air-to-air HPHE filled with two refrigerants as working fluids, R22 and R407c. The heat pipe heat exchanger used was composed of two rows of copper heat pipes in a staggered manner, with 11 pipes per row. Tests were conducted at different airflow rates of 0.14, 0.18, and 0.22 m3/h, evaporator inlet-air temperatures of 40, 44, and 50°C, filling ratios of 45%, 70%, and 100%, and ratios of heat capacity rate of the evaporator to condenser sections (Ce/Cc) of 1 and 1.5. For HPHE's steady-state operation, a mathematical model for heat-transfer performance was set and solved using MATLAB. Results illustrated that the heat transfer rate was in direct proportion with the evaporator inlet-air temperature and flow rate. The highest HPHE's effectiveness was obtained at a 100% filling ratio and (Ce/Cc) of 1.5. The predicted and experimental values of condenser outlet-air temperature were in good agreement, with a maximum difference of 3%. HPHE's effectiveness was found to increase with the increase in evaporator inlet-air temperature and number of transfer units (NTU) and with the decrease in airflow rate, up to 33% and 20% for refrigerants R22 and R407c, respectively. The rapid and unprecedented technological advancements are currently dominated by two technologies. At one hand, we witness the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) as the next evolution of the Internet. At the other hand, we witness a vast spread of social networks that connects people together socially and opens the door for people to share and express ideas, thoughts, and information. IoT is overpopulated by a vast number of objects, millions of multimedia services, and interactions. Therefore, the search of the right object that can provide the specific multimedia service is considered as an important issue. The merge of these two technologies resulted in new paradigm called Social IoT (SIoT). The main idea in SIoT is that every object can mine IoT in search for certain multimedia service. We investigate the issue of friends' management in SIoT and propose a framework to manage friends' requests. The proposed framework employs several mechanisms to better manage friends' relationships. The proposed framework consists of friend selection, friendship removal, and an update module. It proposes a weight-based algorithm and Naïve Bayes Classifier-based algorithm for the selection component. Moreover, a random service allocation model is proposed to construct service-specific network model. This model is then used in the simulation setup to examine the performance of different friends' management algorithms. The performance of the proposed framework is evaluated using simulation under different scenarios. The obtained simulation results show improvement over other strategies in terms of average degree of connections, average path length, local cluster coefficients, and throughput.  相似文献

Schiff bases are versatile compounds synthesized from the condensation of primary amino compounds with aldehydes or ketones. The high thermal of many Schiff base and their complexes were useful attributes for their application as catalysts in reactions involving at high temperatures. This thermal behavior of Schiff bases and their complexes was evaluated by TGA/DTG and DTA curves with mass losses related to dehydration and decomposition. This review summarizes the developments in the last decade for thermal analysis of Schiff bases. Therefore, synthesis of Schiff bases and their complexes are reviewed.  相似文献

A type-2 fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is proposed in this article for robot manipulators with joint elasticity and structured and unstructured dynamical uncertainties. The proposed controller is based on a sliding mode control strategy. To enhance its real-time performance, simplified interval fuzzy sets are used. The efficiency of the control scheme is further enhanced by using computationally inexpensive input signals independently of the noisy torque and acceleration signals, and by adopting a trade off strategy between the manipulator’s position and the actuators’ internal stability. The controller is validated through a set of numerical experiments and by comparing it against its type-1 counterpart. It is shown through these experiments the higher performance of the type-2 FLC in compensating for larger magnitudes of uncertainties with severe nonlinearities. This article presents a decentralized control scheme for the complex problem of simultaneous position and internal force control in cooperative multiple manipulator systems. The proposed controller is composed of a sliding mode control term and a force robustifying term to simultaneously control the payload's position/orientation as well as the internal forces induced in the system. This is accomplished independently of the manipulators dynamics. Unlike most controllers that do not require prior knowledge of the manipulators dynamics, the suggested controller does not use fuzzy logic inferencing and is computationally inexpensive. Using a Lyapunov stability approach, the controller is proven to be robust in the face of varying system's dynamics. The payload's position/orientation and the internal force errors are also shown to asymptotically converge to zero under such conditions.  相似文献

Windows delay analysis has been recognized as one of the most credible techniques for analyzing construction delays. To overcome some of the drawbacks of windows delay analysis, this paper introduces improvements to a computerized schedule analysis model so that it will produce accurate and repeatable results. The model considers multiple baseline updates due to changes in the durations of the activities and the logical relationships among them, as well as the impact of resource overallocation. The model uses a daily window size in order to consider all fluctuations in the critical path(s) and uses a legible representation of progress information to accurately apportion delays and accelerations among project parties. A simple case study has been implemented to demonstrate the accuracy and usefulness of the proposed delay analysis model. This research is useful for both researchers and practitioners and allows detailed and repeatable analysis of the progress of a construction project in order to facilitate corrective actions and claim analysis.  相似文献

While the critical path method (CPM) has been useful for scheduling construction projects, years of practice and research have highlighted serious drawbacks that hinder its use as a decision support tool. This paper argues that many of CPM drawbacks stem from the rough level of detail at which the analysis is conducted, where activities’ durations are considered as continuous blocks of time. The paper thus proposes a new critical path segments (CPS) mechanism with a finer level of granularity by decomposing the duration of each activity into separate time segments. Three cases are used to prove the benefits of using separate time segments in avoiding complex network relationships, accurately identifying all critical path fluctuation, better allocation of limited resources, avoiding multiple-calendar problems, and accurate analysis of project delays. The paper discusses the proposed CPS mechanism and comments on several issues related to its calculation complexity, its impact on existing procedures, and future extensions. This research is more beneficial to researchers and has the potential to revolutionize scheduling computations to resolve CPM drawbacks.  相似文献
