Kriging is a well-established approximation technique for deterministic computer experiments. There are several Kriging variants and a comparative study is warranted to evaluate the different performance characteristics of the Kriging models in the computational fluid dynamics area, specifically in turbomachinery design where the most complex flow situations can be observed. Sufficiently accurate flow simulations can take a long time to converge. Hence, this type of simulation can benefit hugely from the computational cheap Kriging models to reduce the computational burden. The Kriging variants such as ordinary Kriging, universal Kriging and blind Kriging along with the commonly used response surface approximation (RSA) model were used to optimize the performance of a centrifugal impeller using CFD analysis. A Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equation solver was utilized to compute the objective function responses. The responses along with the design variables were used to construct the Kriging variants and RSA functions. A hybrid genetic algorithm was used to find the optimal point in the design space. It was found that the best optimal design was produced by blind Kriging, while the RSA identified the worst optimal design. By changing the shape of the impeller, a reduction in inlet recirculation was observed, which resulted into an increase in efficiency.  相似文献

An analytical study is made of the free and forced convection boundary layer flow past a porous medium bounded by a semi-infinite vertical porous plate. Locally similar solutions are then obtained by a perturbation method for large suction. Solutions for the velocity and temperature distributions are shown graphically for various suction velocities and values of the driving parameter Gr/R, where Gr is the Grashof number and Re is the Reynolds number. The corresponding values of the skin friction coefficient and the Nusselt number are finally shown in tabular form.  相似文献

Butter, butterfat, and corn, coconut, rapeseed, and soybean oils were exposed to 500 ft-c of fluorescent light at varying time-temperature conditions. Oxidation rates were measured by the peroxide values. Vitamin A and β-carotene content of butterfat were estimated. The effect of wavelength on the relative rates of oxidation was determined. The light transmitting properties of the samples at 15 and 30 C over a spectral range of 380–750 nm were measured. It was observed that there was no increase in oxidation rate when the light was switched off. The stability of the oils as shown by the oxidation rates did not correlate well with the ratios of C18:2 to C18:1 or C18:3 to C18:2 nor with the degree of unsaturation. Increase in temperature alone had minimal effect; however, in the presence of light the rate of oxidation increased considerably with a corresponding decrease in the content of Vitamin A and β-carotene. β-Carotene provided strong protective properties. After the photobleaching of β-carotene in butterfat, there was a rapid increase in peroxide values. With coconut oil, the oxidation rate was greater at 15 C than at 30 C due to greater light absorption at 15 C over the entire spectrum. The rate of oxidation decreased at higher wavelengths, and this effect was more pronounced in the vegetable oils than in butterfat, where the β-carotene was considered to serve as a filter for light of low wavelength. The feeding of young children is fundamentally a relational and multisystemic process. Successful treatment of clinically significant feeding problems involves careful assessment of the full range of influences on the feeding relationship and integrated treatment approaches. However, current diagnostic approaches to feeding disorders tend to be reductionistic, exclusively focused on the child as an individual, and overly concerned with exclusionary criteria. Criteria are proposed for "Feeding Disorder Between Parent and Child" that address these limitations and embrace the complexity of feeding problems. A multiaxial diagnosis that describes the child (including medical, developmental, and behavioral characteristics); the parent; the parent-child relationship; and the social and nutritional context of feeding will more accurately speak to treatment planning in this population. The proposed diagnostic criteria were developed and refined on the basis of the available literature and many years of treatment experience across the authors of this article. The proposed diagnosis will support the development and evaluation of treatment packages with components specifically targeted to issues of the child, parent, parent-child interaction, and the broader environment. The influence of ration composition on mean ruminal ammonia concentration was studied by collecting samples of ruminal ingesta from cattle fed rations varying in crude protein and total digestible nutrient content. A minimum of four sampling times distributed throughout the day permitted calculation of mean ruminal ammonia concentrations. Mean ruminal ammonia concentration was positively related to dietary crude protein concentration and negatively related to total digestible nutrient concentration. It is postulated that mean ruminal ammonia concentration may be a useful criterion for predicting efficacy of nonprotein nitrogen supplementation. A quantitative approach for evaluating nonprotein nitrogen supplementation based upon determination of the point at which ruminal ammonia exceeds the requirement (5 mg ammonia nitrogen/100 ml rumen fluid) of the ammonia-utilizing bacteria is proposed. Dietary conditions expected to result in excessive concentrations of ruminal ammonia are defined and recommended upper limits for nonprotein nitrogen supplementation are presented. Theoretical relationships between composition of the unsupplemented ration, amount of nonprotein nitrogen added, and efficiency of nonprotein nitrogen utilization are discussed. The practice of adding nonprotein nitrogen so as to exceed 12 to 13% crude protein in typical dairy or feedlot rations needs to be reevaluated.  相似文献

Four lactating cows, each fitted with a rumen cannula and duodenal and ileal t-cannulae, were used to measure flow and digestion of nitrogenous compounds in the digestive tract. Dietary dry matter contained 17% crude protein and 50:50 forage:concentrate. Treatments were: 1) corn silage-soybean meal; 2) corn silage-heated soybean meal; 3) ammonia-treated corn silage-soybean meal; and 4) ammonia-treated corn silage-heated soybean meal. Flow of organic matter to the duodenum was overestimated when lanthanum or chromium ethylene-diaminetetraacetate was used as an indigestible marker. This resulted in low estimates of ruminal digestion of organic matter and high estimates of nitrogen flow to the duodenum. However, calculations using lanthanum or lignin as markers yielded similar organic matter flow to ileum and feces. With acid-detergent lignin as a marker, estimates of dietary nitrogen degraded in the rumen were: corn silage-heated soybean meal, 55.0% ammonia-treated corn silage-heated soybean meal, 58.8%; ammonia-treated corn silage-soybean meal, 63.3%; and corn silage-soybean meal, 66.0%. Digestion in the small intestine of nonammonia nitrogen was equal for all treatments suggesting that availability of heated soybean meal in the intestine was not different, although ruminal degradability tended to be lower. Feeding diets containing nonprotein nitrogen did not decrease available nitrogen at the duodenum.  相似文献

Feeding shelled corn as the primary supplement in cracked dry form or ground high moisture form to grazing cows was studied in an experiment using 32 cows in late lactation. Each of the two forms of corn accounted for 74.7% of the concentrate supplement, which was fed at 9 kg/d (DM). The experiment was 13 wk, during which cows grazed permanent native pasture containing mostly grasses and some clover. Milk yield was 2.4 kg/d higher for cows fed ground high moisture shelled corn than for those fed dry cracked shelled corn. Milk fat content was lower (3.28 vs. 3.67%), but protein content was higher (3.26 vs. 3.15%) for the high moisture corn supplement. Results suggest that high moisture corn can serve as a better supplement for grazing cows than dry corn, likely by providing more metabolizable energy and microbial protein due to more fermentable and digestible starch.  相似文献

Scaling analysis is widely used in the design of nuclear reactor passive safety systems to ensure that the scale-down test facilities can accurately capture the important phenomena in the prototypic system. In this study, the scaling distortion of a gravity-driven draining system has been analyzed with Hierarchical Two-Tiered Scaling (H2TS) method, based on the initial static characteristic values. In the draining process, however, the key parameters may vary with respect to time, leading to a certain level of scaling distortion. To evaluate the time-dependent scaling distortion, a Dynamical System Scaling (DSS) method is applied. Through comparisons of scaling results of the two scaling methods, it is concluded that the H2TS method can effectively scale the gravity-driven draining process in different geometric sizes, if the variations in the friction factor is negligible. As the draining process slows down, accompanied by an increase in the friction factor, the distortions in water level and in discharge velocity become significant, especially at the end of the draining process in a model of relatively small geometry size. This preliminary study demonstrated the process of scaling distortion analysis using the DSS identity method, and could shed light to the scaling distortion evaluation of testing programs.  相似文献

The influence of irradiation on biosyntheses of ascorbic acid and riboflavin in germinating chickpea seeds at ambient (25-35℃) conditions, was investigated. The rate of syntheses of these vitamins significantly increased with increasing germination time upto 120 h depending upon the treatment (P<0.05). Maximum amounts of ascorbic acid, 22.32 and 16.84 mg/100g, were found in the 0.10 kGy sample after 120 h of germination in tap and distilled water respectively. However, a radiation dose of 0.15 kGy resulted in the development of maximum values of riboflavin, 11.40 and 11.38 μ g/g, on germination in tap and distilled water respectively. A significant linear relation (r = 0-954 to 0.997) was observed between the biosyntheses of these vitamins and the germination time upto 120 h of irradiated and unirradiated chickpea seed (P<0.05).  相似文献
