Hydrogen (H2) is one of the most promising renewable energy sources, anaerobic bacterial H2 fermentation is considered as one of the most environmentally sustainable alternatives to meet the potential fossil fuel demand. Bio-H2 is the cleanest and most effective source of energy provided by the dark fermentation utilizing organic substrates and different wastewaters. In this study, the bio-H2 production was achieved by using the bacteria Acinetobacter junii-AH4. Further, optimization was carried out at different pH (5.0–8.0) in the presence of wastewaters as substrates (Rice mill wastewater (RMWW), Food wastewater (FWW) and Sugar wastewater (SWW). In this way, the optimized experiments excelled with the maximum cumulative H2 production of 566.44 ± 3.5 mL/L (100% FWW at pH 7.5) in the presence of Acinetobacter junii-AH4. To achieve this, a bioreactor (3 L) was employed for the effective production of H2 and Acinetobacter junii-AH4 has shown the highest cumulative H2 of 613.2 ± 3.0 mL/L, HPR of 8.5 ± 0.4 mL/L/h, HY of 1.8 ± 0.09 mol H2/mol glucose. Altogether, the present study showed a COD removal efficiency of 79.9 ± 3.5% by utilizing 100% food wastewater at pH 7.5. The modeled data established a batch fermentation system for sustainable H2 production. This study has aided to achieve an ecofriendly approach using specific wastewaters for the production of bio-H2.  相似文献

The naturally available cyclodextrin has opened up a wide range of research avenues because of its superior characteristics such as being non-toxic, biocompatible, and edible. The cyclodextrin is the green multifunctional material that can add to the triboelectric series and extend its self-powered applications. The ultrasonic synthesized cyclodextrin metal–organic framework (CD-MOF) designed using sodium as a metal ion and cyclodextrin as a ligand for the triboelectric nanogenerator is reported. The various detailed characterizations of the CD-MOFs give an insight into the properties of the synthesized material. The Kelvin probe force microscopy suggests three types of CD-MOFs, exhibiting a positive potential. As per the surface potential, the output of the various CD-MOF based TENG is varied as alpha CD MOF/Teflon > gamma CD-MOF/Teflon > beta CD-MOF/Teflon. The alpha CD MOF/Teflon TENG produces an electrical output of 152 V, 1.2 μA, and 14.3 nC, respectively. The fabricated device output is utilized for powering numerous low-power electronics through a capacitor and bridge rectifier circuit. The multiunit Z-shaped TENG device is attached to various surfaces such as the shoe heel and the backside of the school bag, and the corresponding energy harvesting response is demonstrated.  相似文献

Fucoxanthin, a nonprovitamin A carotenoid, is a yellowish‐brown pigment found abundantly in brown algae. Along with chlorophyll a, it is bound to proteins and acts as a light‐harvesting and a light‐transferring pigment. The occurrence of carotenoids and chlorophylls in photosynthetic tissues complicates the isolation of pure fucoxanthin. The present study deals with a method for the isolation of fucoxanthin by low‐temperature crystallization and testing its antioxidant activity both in in vitro assays and in 5% oil‐in‐water emulsion. The yield of fucoxanthin obtained with this method ranged from 0.1% to 0.5% of dried algae depending on the species. Fucoxanthin showed good α,α‐diphenyl‐β‐picrylhydrazyl radical‐scavenging and iron‐chelating properties. However, it showed low reducing power and was poor in the inhibition of lipid oxidation in a liposome model system. When tested in 5% fish oil‐in‐water emulsion with iron as an oxidation inducer, fucoxanthin showed antioxidant activity by resulting in low levels of volatile oxidation products and low tocopherol loss compared to control and butylated hydroxytoluene.  相似文献

Software process improvement (SPI) is a long-term journey, which is made comfortable by many means. The most dominant and preferred plan is a knowledge driven methodology with which software development organisations are experimenting. To have a look and feel of knowledge and its management, it has become essential to have a standardised knowledge management tool (KMT) that comprises specifications like-acquisition, representation, sharing and deploying. Although several tools and techniques are available for managing knowledge to solve domain problems, it is felt in the knowledge society that no standard KM tools exist that would facilitate SPI. In this piece of implementation work, the authors outline the features that are deemed significant to implement a KMT that drives the journey of SPI. Four process areas are chosen and four subsystems are identified in covering these process areas. A series of studies conducted among organisations requiring the support of a KMT in making a decisive SPI initiative are also discussed with elaborate and significant results. Implications of this work demands the cooperation of software development companies with the research community in finding a better approach to their improvement program.  相似文献

L-glutamate (3-1,000 microM) and (1S,3R)-1-aminocyclopentane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (1S,3R-ACPD; 10-1,000 microM), a selective agonist for the metabotropic glutamate receptor, stimulated the formation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate in a concentration-dependent manner. L-Glutamate was half as efficacious as 1S,3R-ACPD. N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA; 1 nM to 1 mM) did not significantly influence the response to a maximally effective concentration of 1S,3R-ACPD (100 microM). On the other hand, coapplication of (R,S)-alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methylisoxazole-4-propionic acid (AMPA; 1-300 nM) produced a concentration- and time-dependent inhibition of the 1S,3R-ACPD effect, with a maximal inhibition (97%) at 100 nM. Ten micromolar 6-cyano-7-nitroquinoxaline-2,3-dione, an antagonist of the AMPA receptor, blocked the inhibitory effect of AMPA. Reduced extracellular calcium concentration, as well as 10 microM nimodipine, an L-type calcium channel antagonist, inhibited the AMPA influence on the 1S,3R-ACPD response. W-7, a calcium/calmodulin antagonist, prevented the inhibition by AMPA, whereas H-7, an inhibitor of protein kinase C, had no effect. These data suggest that activation of AMPA receptors has an inhibitory influence on inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate formation mediated by stimulation of the metabotropic glutamate receptor. The mechanism of action involves calcium influx through L-type type calcium channels and possible activation of calcium/calmodulin-dependent enzymes.  相似文献

Silver deposited titania (Ag/TiO2) nanocomposite thin films were fabricated by the simple sonochemical deposition of Ag on preformed aerosol-assisted chemical vapor deposited TiO2 thin films. The photelectrocatalytic performance of a newly fabricated Ag/TiO2-modified photoelectrode was studied for methanol oxidation under simulated solar AM 1.5G irradiation (100 mW/cm2). The Ag/TiO2-modified photoelectrode showed a photocurrent density of 1 mA/cm2, which is four times that of an unmodified TiO2 photoelectrode. The modification of Ag on the TiO2 surface significantly enhanced the photoelectrocatalytic performance by improving the interfacial charge transfer processes, which minimized the charge recombination. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation studies revealed that methanol could be easily adsorbed onto the Ag surfaces of Ag/TiO2 via a partial electron transfer from Ag to methanol. The newly fabricated Ag/TiO2-modified photoelectrode could be a promising candidate for photoelectrochemical applications.  相似文献
