In the present work, six new kinds of building composite PCMs (BCPCMs), PS/octadecane, BC/octadecane, PS/CA–MA, BC/CA–MA, PS/PEG1000, and BC/PEG1000 composites, were prepared by using vacuum impregnation method. The maximum percent of PCM in the composites was assigned to be 12, 13, 18, 23, 30, and 42 wt%, respectively. The form‐stable BCPCMs were characterized using SEM, FT‐IR, DSC, and TG analysis techniques. The characterization results showed the existence of homogenous dispersion of the PCM into the PBM matrixes. The DSC measurements indicated that the melting temperatures of the form‐stable BCPCMs are in the range of 20–33°C while they have latent heats of melting in the range of about 28–55 J/g. These results make them promising BCPCMs for low temperature‐passive TES applications in buildings. Thermal cycling test indicated that the prepared BCPCMs have good thermal reliability and chemical stability. TG analysis proved that the prepared BCPCMs have good thermal durability. In addition, the thermal conductivity of BCPCMs was enhanced considerably by addition of expanded graphite (EG). The improvement in thermal conductivity of the BCPCMs caused appreciably reduction in their melting times. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The development of new binders, as an alternative to traditional cement, by the alkaline activation of industrial by-products (i.e. ground granulated slag and fly ash) is an ongoing research topic in the scientific community [Puertas F, Amat T, Jimenez AF, Vazquez T. Mechanical and durable behaviour of alkaline cement mortars reinforced with polypropylene fibres. Cem Concr Res 2003;33(12): 2031–6]. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using and alkaline activated ground Turkish slag to produce a mortar without Portland cement (PC).Following the characterization of the slag, mortar specimens made with alkali-activated slag were prepared. Three different activators were used: liquid sodium silicate (LSS), sodium hydroxide (SH) and sodium carbonate (SC) at different sodium concentrations. Compressive and flexural tensile strength of alkali-activated slag mortar was measured at 7-days, 28-days and 3-months. Drying shrinkage of the mortar was measured up to 6-months. Setting times of the alkali-activated slag paste and PC paste were also measured.Setting times of LSS and SH activated slag pastes were found to be much slower than the setting time of PC paste. However, slag paste activated with SC showed similar setting properties to PC paste.LSS, SH and SC activated slag mortar developed 81, 29, and 36 MPa maximum compressive strengths, and 6.8, 3.8, and 5.3 MPa maximum flexural tensile strengths at 28-days. PC mortar developed 33 MPa compressive strength and 5.2 MPa flexural tensile strength. LSS and SH activated slag mortars were found to be more brittle than SC activated slag and PC mortars.Slag mortar made with LSS had a high drying shrinkage, up to six times that of PC mortar. Similarly, slag mortar made with SH had a shrinkage up to three times that of PC mortar. However, SC activated slag mortar had a lower or comparable shrinkage to PC mortar. Therefore, the use of SC as an activator for slag mortar is recommended, since it results in adequate strength, similar setting times to PC mortar and comparable or lower shrinkage.  相似文献

In this study, the effect of lime on control of SO2 emissions was investigated by briquetting of coal particles with various lime contents. The influence of the added lime was determined not only from the view of its contribution to environmental aspects but also in terms of effects on the thermal features and reaction kinetics of coal. The extent of improvement was determined by detailed sulfur analysis. Thermal qualification and reaction kinetics of the coal briquettes with varying lime contents were performed by evolved gas analysis and its complementing kinetic model based on Arrhenius principles. At the end of experiments, utilization of lime was seen to contribute considerably to desulfurization process. However, lime addition had an adverse effect both on the effectiveness of combustion and the liability of the coal briquettes to oxidize.  相似文献

Machining of hard materials has become a great challenge for several decades. One of the problems in this machining process is early tool wear, and this affects the machinability of hard materials. In order to increase machinability, cutting tools are widely coated with nanostructured physical vapor deposition hard coatings. The main characteristics of such advanced hard coatings are high microhardness and toughness as well as good adhesion to the substrate. In this paper, the influence of hard coatings (nanolayer AlTiN/TiN, multilayer nanocomposite TiAlSiN/TiSiN/TiAlN, and commercially available TiN/TiAlN) and cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut) on cutting forces and surface roughness were investigated during face milling of AISI O2 cold work tool steel (~61 HRC). The experiments were conducted based on 313 factorial design by response surface methodology, and response surface equations of cutting forces and surface roughness were obtained. In addition, the cutting forces obtained with the coated and uncoated tools were compared. The results showed that the interaction of coating type and depth of cut affects surface roughness. The hard coating type has no significant effect on cutting forces, while the cutting force F z is approximately two times higher in the case of uncoated tool.  相似文献

This paper reports a part of an ongoing laboratory investigation in which the compressive strength of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS) concrete studied under dry and wet curing conditions. In the study, a total of 45 concretes, including control normal Portland cement (NPC) concrete and GGBFS concrete, were produced with three different water-cement ratios (0.3, 0.4, 0.5), three different cement dosages (350, 400, 450 kg/m3) and four partial GGBFS replacement ratios (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%). A hyperplasticizer was used in concrete at various quantities to provide and keep a constant workability. Twelve cubic samples produced from fresh concrete were de-moulded after a day, then, six cubic samples were cured at 22±2 °C with 65% relative humidity (RH), and the remaining six cubic samples were cured at 22±2 °C with 100%RH until the samples were used for compressive strength measurement at 28 days and three months. Three cubic samples were used for each age and curing conditions. The comparison was made on the basis of compressive strength between GGBFS concrete and NPC concrete. GGBFS concretes were also compared within themselves. The comparisons showed that compressive strength of GGBFS concrete cured at 65%RH was influenced more than that of NPC concrete. It was found that the compressive strength of GGBFS concrete cured at 65%RH was, at average, 15% lower than that of GGBFS concrete cured at 100%RH. The increase in the water-cementitious materials ratios makes the concrete more sensitive to dry curing condition. The influence of dry curing conditions on GGBFS concrete was marked as the replacement ratio of GGBFS increased.  相似文献

The unique functional properties of nanocomposites meet many of the material requirements sought after in numerous applications of today's high‐tech industry. This, in turn, inspires material scientists to devise new methods that can further expand the palette of available nanocomposites. Precise control over the chemistry, morphology, and microstructure of nanocomposites' constituents promises the eventual ability to design any composite material for any specific requirement. However, today's synthesis methods still lack the ability to simultaneously control all chemical, morphological, and microstructural features of nanocomposites in a one‐step process. Here, an alternative approach to fabricate fully tailorable nanocomposites under well‐defined conditions is described. In particular, this progress report focuses on the combination of cluster ion beam and thin‐film deposition technologies to fabricate cluster‐assembled nanocomposites via codeposition of cluster ions and matrix materials. Emphasis is given to the state‐of‐the‐art cluster deposition system, designed and built by our research group, as well as to its unique abilities. Moreover, case studies on two cluster‐assembled nanocomposite material systems (Fe/Agm and Fe/Crm) prepared with this method are presented. Finally, an outlook on research directions for cluster‐assembled nanocomposites is discussed.  相似文献

A genetic algorithm approach is used to solve a multi-objective discrete reliability optimization problem in a k dissimilar-unit non-repairable cold-standby redundant system. Each unit is composed of a number of independent components with generalized Erlang distributions arranged in a series–parallel configuration. There are multiple component choices with different distribution parameters available for being replaced with each component of the system. The objective of the reliability optimization problem is to select the best components, from the set of available components, to be placed in the standby system in order to minimize the initial purchase cost of the system, maximize the system MTTF (mean time to failure), minimize the system VTTF (variance of time to failure) and also maximize the system reliability at the mission time. Finally, we apply a genetic algorithm with double strings using continuous relaxation based on reference solution updating (GADSCRRSU) to solve this multi-objective problem, using goal attainment formulation. The results are also compared against the results of a discrete-time approximation technique to show the efficiency of the proposed GA approach.  相似文献

Operating temperatures in gas turbine engines have reached to 1200°C with the latest developments in coating technology. Thermal shock and furnace oxidation tests are widely used to determine thermal barrier coating (TBC) performance and its durability in aircraft applications. This paper presents the results of thermal shock and furnace oxidation tests, carried out with regard to the microstructure and TGO (thermally grown oxide) growth behavior of TBC systems. Isothermal oxidation behavior of TBCs was evaluated through examination of microstructure, formation, and growth behavior of TGO layers at 1200°C for different time periods in furnace oxidation tests. On the other hand, thermal shock behavior of TBC was evaluated through examination of its durability at 1200°C with thermal shock test, which was carried out until the coating failure became visible. The relationship between the TGO growth and oxidation behavior was discussed using furnace oxidation test results.  相似文献
