A stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatography for the quantitation of cefaclor in pharmaceutical dosage forms has been developed. The method is accurate and precise with a percent relative standard deviation of 1.2 based on 5 readings. A number of inactive ingredients present in the capsules and suspensions did not interfere with the assay procedure. The extraction procedure from the dosage forms is very simple. The recovery from the synthetic mixtures was quantitative. The capsules which had expired 3 years ago lost only 3% of the potency. The drug appears to be very sensitive to strong acids or bases since a 5 minute boiling caused 100% degradation of drug in both the solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we shall generalize the concepts of fairness, TCP-friendliness and TCP-compatibility such that more source adaptation schemes can be designed to support diverse applications over the Internet. A simple but efficient framework, in the form of a monotonic response function (MRF), is proposed for the analysis and the design of memoryless window-based source adaptation protocols by using these concepts. We first derive a necessary and sufficient condition for step-wise convergence to the weighted fairness. It is then used to construct increase-decrease policies. The requirements of our increase-decrease policy are less conservative than those of the CYRF (Choose Your Response Function) that was proposed in . Our MRF is suitable for transmission control protocol (TCP) and user datagram protocol (UDP), and can be used to design TCP-friendly and multimedia-friendly source adaptation schemes. Meanwhile, our MRF can be applied to provide bandwidth differentiation service without any change to the router of the existing Internet.  相似文献

In cellular networks, QoS degradation or forced termination may occur when there are insufficient resources to accommodate handoff requests. One solution is to predict the trajectory of mobile terminals so as to perform resource reservations in advance. With the vision that future mobile devices are likely to be equipped with reasonably accurate positioning capability, we investigate how this new feature may be used for mobility predictions. We propose a mobility prediction technique that incorporates road topology information, and describe its use for dynamic resource reservation. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the improvement in reservation efficiency compared with several other schemes.  相似文献

Closed laboratories are becoming an increasingly popular approach to teaching introductory computer science courses. Unlike open laboratories that tend to be an informal environment provided for students to practice their skills with attendance optional, closed laboratories are structured meeting times that support the lecture component of the course, and attendance is required. This paper reports on an integrated approach to designing, implementing, and assessing laboratories with an embedded instructional research design. The activities reported here are parts of a departmentwide effort not only to improve student learning in computer science and computer engineering (CE) but also to improve the agility of the Computer Science and Engineering Department in adapting the curriculum to changing technologies, incorporate research, and validate the instructional strategies used. This paper presents the design and implementation of the laboratories and the results and analysis of student performance. Also described in this paper is cooperative learning in the laboratories and its impact on student learning.  相似文献

Linear block codes over Gaussian integers and Eisenstein integers were used for coding over two-dimensional signal space. A group of Gaussian integers with 22n elements was constructed to code quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signals such that a differentially coherent method can be applied to demodulate the QAM signals. This paper shows that one subgroup of the multiplicative group of units in the algebraic integer ring of any quadratic number field with unique factorization, modulo the ideal (Pn), can be used to obtain a QAM signal space of 2p2n-2 points, where p is any given odd prime number. Furthermore, one subgroup of the multiplicative group of units in the quotient ring Z[ω]/(pn) can be used to obtain a QAM signal space of 6p2n-2 points; one subgroup of the multiplicative group of units in the quotient ring Z[i](pn) can be used to obtain a QAM signal space of 4p2n-2 points which is symmetrical over the quadrants of the complex plane and useful for differentially coherent detection of QAM signals; the multiplicative group of units in the quotient ring Z[ω]/(2n) can be used to obtain a QAM signal space of 3·22n-2 points, where i=√-1, ω=(-1+√-3)/2=(-1+i√3)/2, p is any given odd prime number, Z[i] and Z[ω] are, respectively, the Gaussian integer ring and the Eisenstein integer ring. Our goal is to assess the viability of an in vitro preparation of bovine ciliary body/epithelium (CBE) in a small volume Ussing-type chamber. A new small volume Ussing-type chamber with continuous perfusion was developed for bovine CBE. The trans-CBE electrical parameters were monitored and the electrical responses of the CBE to ouabain (1 and 0.01 mM) were recorded. The trans-CBE fluxes of [14C]-L-ascorbate and [3H]-L-glucose were also studied. The bovine CBE preparation was stable inside the chamber in terms of its potential difference (PD), short circuit current (SCC) and trans-CBE resistance. They were -0.51+/-0.05 mV (aqueous side negative), -5.43+/-0.04 microAcm-2 and 94+/-2 Q.cm2 (mean s.e.m., n=35), respectively. The preparation hyperpolarised when 0.01 mM ouabain was administered to the aqueous side, depolarised when ouabain was applied to the stromal side. [3H]-L-glucose diffusion was about 74 nEq h(-1)cm(-2) in either direction (n=12). Taking the area magnification factor of the CBE into consideration, the diffusional L-glucose flux across the bovine CBE was comparable to other tight epithelia. A significant net ascorbate flux (0.26+/-0.05 nEq h(-1)cm(-2), n=4, p<0.01) was found in the stroma to aqueous direction. We have developed a viable in vitro bovine CBE preparation which was (1) electrically stable, (2) responsive to ouabain, (3) tight to L-glucose diffusion, and (4) capable of actively secreting ascorbate. A net trans-CBE chloride transport (0.81+/-0.30 microEq h(-1)cm(-2), n=12, p=0.01) from stromal to aqueous side was found in the present in vitro model under short-circuited conditions.  相似文献

Despite a large body of work on XPath query processing in relational environment, systematic study of queries containing not-predicates have received little attention in the literature. Particularly, several xml supports of industrial-strength commercial rdbms fail to efficiently evaluate such queries. In this paper, we present an efficient and novel strategy to evaluate not -twig queries in a tree-unaware relational environment. not -twig queries are XPath queries with ancestor–descendant and parent–child axis and contain one or more not-predicates. We propose a novel Dewey-based encoding scheme called Andes (ANcestor Dewey-based Encoding Scheme), which enables us to efficiently filter out elements satisfying a not-predicate by comparing their ancestor group identifiers. In this approach, a set of elements under the same common ancestor at a specific level in the xml tree is assigned same ancestor group identifier. Based on this scheme, we propose a novel sql translation algorithm for not-twig query evaluation. Experiments carried out confirm that our proposed approach built on top of an off-the-shelf commercial rdbms significantly outperforms state-of-the-art relational and native approaches. We also explore the query plans selected by a commercial relational optimizer to evaluate our translated queries in different input cardinality. Such exploration further validates the performance benefits of Andes.  相似文献

The pharyngeal pumping motion to send food to the bowel is a rhythmic movement in Caenorhabditis elegans. This paper proposes a simulation-based approach to investigate the mechanisms of rhythm phenomena in the pharyngeal pumping motion. To conduct the simulations, first, we developed a pharyngeal muscle model including 29 cell models which simulate the activity of each cell as a membrane potential based on FitzHugh-Nagumo equations. Then, to compare the response of the model with that of C. elegans, we calculated the electropharyngeogram (EPG), which represents the electrophysiological responses of the pharyngeal cells, using the simulated membrane potentials. The results confirmed that our model could generate the EPG similar to that measured from C. elegans. We proposed a computer simulation of the pumping motion to investigate the mechanisms of rhythm phenomena in living organisms.  相似文献
