Under the hypothesis that cardioprotective agents might benefit from synergism between antiarrhythmic activity and antioxidant properties, a small series of mexiletine analogues were coupled with the 2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrroline moiety, known for its antioxidant effect, in order to obtain dual-acting drugs potentially useful in the protection of the heart against post-ischemic reperfusion injury. The pyrroline derivatives reported herein were found to be more potent as antiarrhythmic agents than mexiletine and displayed antioxidant activity. The most interesting tetramethylpyrroline congener, a tert-butyl-substituted analogue, was at least 100 times more active as an antiarrhythmic than mexiletine.  相似文献

Turing's Rules for the Imitation Game   总被引:3,自引:3,他引:0
In the 1950s, Alan Turing proposed his influential test for machine intelligence, which involved a teletyped dialogue between a human player, a machine, and an interrogator. Two readings of Turing's rules for the test have been given. According to the standard reading of Turing's words, the goal of the interrogator was to discover which was the human being and which was the machine, while the goal of the machine was to be indistinguishable from a human being. According to the literal reading, the goal of the machine was to simulate a man imitating a woman, while the interrogator – unaware of the real purpose of the test – was attempting to determine which of the two contestants was the woman and which was the man. The present work offers a study of Turing's rules for the test in the context of his advocated purpose and his other texts. The conclusion is that there are several independent and mutually reinforcing lines of evidence that support the standard reading, while fitting the literal reading in Turing's work faces severe interpretative difficulties. So, the controversy over Turing's rules should be settled in favor of the standard reading.  相似文献

NO2 sensing properties of SnO2-based varistor-type sensors have been investigated in the temperature range of 400-650°C and in the NO2 concentration range of 15–30 ppm. Pure SnO2 exhibited a weak nonlinear IV characteristic in air, but clear nonlinearity in NO2 at 450°C. The breakdown voltage of SnO2 shifted to a high electric field upon exposure to NO2 and the magnitude of the shift was well correlated with NO2 concentration. Thus, SnO2 exhibited some sensitivity to NO2 as a varistor-type sensor. When SnO2 particles coated with a SiO2 thin film were used as a raw material for fabricating a varistor, the breakdown voltage in air was approximately the double that of pure SnO2 and the sensitivity to 15 ppm NO2 was enhanced slightly. However, the sensitivity to 30 ppm NO2 decreased. The Cr2O3-loading on SnO2 also led to an increase in the breakdown voltage in air, but the Cr2O3 addition was not effective for promoting the NO2 sensitivity under the present experimental conditions.  相似文献

The paper is aimed at discussing some problems that may arise in the tomographic inversion of data acquired with particular geometries, as vertical seismic profiles (VSP) or implying the use of Ocean Bottom Seismographs (OBS), and presenting the solutions used to solve them. One problem is due to the limited number of sensors (that may be even a single one) and of their sparseness. This affects the information distribution that is concentrated in the vicinity of each sensor. This fact, together with the second problem, i.e. the strong asymmetry of the ray path, may decrease the reliability of the inversion. Two procedures for irregular adaptive gridding of the reflecting interfaces and single ray datuming are proposed as possible solutions to overcome these obstacles, while obtaining a reliable and highly resolved velocity model in depth: the relative procedures are tested through synthetic models and on real data.  相似文献

Self-monitoring composite rods, made of an internal conductive core surrounded by an external structural skin, were manufactured and tested. Both parts were made of glass fibre-epoxy. Electrical conductivity was achieved in the inner core by incorporating as an alternative high surface area or low surface area carbon black in the resin. Self-monitoring performance was assessed by simultaneous mechanical and electrical resistance measurements. The aim was to correlate the electrical resistance variation to stress. Only one type of material showed appropriate self-monitoring properties, since increase of electrical resistance was recorded at increasing loading (both monothonic and cyclic tensile loading), while electrical resistance recovery at high loads was found in the other case. Calorimetric analysis, rheological measurements and SEM observations were carried out to explain this result. Filler dispersion seems to be the key feature affecting the self-monitoring properties. Only high surface area nanoparticles can ensure self-monitoring reliability.  相似文献

This paper concerns Alan Turing's ideas about machines, mathematical methods of proof, and intelligence. By the late 1930s, Kurt Gödel and other logicians, including Turing himself, had shown that no finite set of rules could be used to generate all true mathematical statements. Yet according to Turing, there was no upper bound to the number of mathematical truths provable by intelligent human beings, for they could invent new rules and methods of proof. So, the output of a human mathematician, for Turing, was not a computable sequence (i.e., one that could be generated by a Turing machine). Since computers only contained a finite number of instructions (or programs), one might argue, they could not reproduce human intelligence. Turing called this the ``mathematical objection' to his view that machines can think. Logico-mathematical reasons, stemming from his own work, helped to convince Turing that it should be possible to reproduce human intelligence, and eventually compete with it, by developing the appropriate kind of digital computer. He felt it should be possible to program a computer so that it could learn or discover new rules, overcoming the limitations imposed by the incompleteness and undecidability results in the same way that human mathematicians presumably do.  相似文献

Nanohybrid scaffolds mimicking extracellular matrix are promising experimental models to study stem cell behaviour, in terms of adhesion and proliferation. In the present study, the structural characterization of a novel electrospun nanohybrid and the analysis of cell response by a highly sensitive cell type, embryonic stem (ES) cells, are investigated. Ca-deficient hydroxyapatite nanocrystals (d-HAp) were synthesized by precipitation. Fibrous PCL/d-HAp nanohybrids were obtained by electrospinning, d-HAp content ranging between 2 and 55 wt.%. Electrospun mats showed a non-woven architecture, average fiber size was 1.5 ±0.5 μm, porosity 80–90%, and specific surface area 16 m2 g? 1. Up to 6.4 wt.% d-HAp content, the nanohybrids displayed comparable microstructural, mechanical and dynamo-mechanical properties. Murine ES cell response to neat PCL and to nanohybrid PCL/d-HAp (6.4 wt.%) mats was evaluated by analyzing morphological, metabolic and functional markers. Cells growing on either scaffold proliferated and maintained pluripotency markers at essentially the same rate as cells growing on standard tissue culture plates with no detectable signs of cytotoxicity, despite a lower cell adhesion at the beginning of culture. These results indicate that electrospun PCL scaffolds may provide adequate supports for murine ES cell proliferation in a pluripotent state, and that the presence of d-HAp within the mat does not interfere with their growth.  相似文献

Undoped and Europium-doped titania nanofibers have been fabricated by electrospinning technique, using a single multielement Titanium/Europium source. In this communication we present the synthesis, structural and spectroscopic characterisation of Eu-doped TiO2 nanofibers starting from polyvinylpyrrolidone, titanium tetraisopropoxide (Ti(OiPr)4) and Eu(hfa)3 x diglyme (Hhfa = 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetyacetone, diglyme = CH3O(CH2CH2O)2CH3). The chosen system allowed to investigate a wide compositional range, i.e., from 3 to 10% mol of Eu3+. Microstructure was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal behaviour followed by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). Phase analysis was performed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high temperature X-ray diffraction analysis (HT-XRD) up to 1100 degrees C. Luminescence properties were investigated by means of luminescence spectroscopy, using a laser excitation source at 395 nm. All electrospun materials consisted of randomly oriented nanofibers of fairly uniform diameter. The average fiber size was 80-100 nm and 40 nm for, respectively, Eu-doped and undoped TiO2 calcinated at 500 degrees C. The presence of Europium shifted toward higher values either the crystallization temperature of anatase and the anatase to rutile phase transition, the latter being accompanied by the formation of the Eu2Ti2O7 phase. The doped samples showed a strong luminescence of Eu3+ ions. The emission spectra were dominated by the 5D0 --> 7F2 emission, suggesting a notable distortion around the Eu3+ ions. The broadening of the bands pointed to the presence of a relevant inhomogeneous disorder around the Eu3+ sites. The Eu3+ doped TiO2 nanofibers showed a higher emission intensity with respect to the PVP/TiO2 ones.  相似文献
