Aspectual Feature Modules   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Two programming paradigms are gaining attention in the overlapping fields of software product lines (SPLs) and incremental software development (ISD). Feature-oriented programming (FOP) aims at large-scale compositional programming and feature modularity in SPLs using ISD. Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) focuses on the modularization of crosscutting concerns in complex software. Although feature modules, the main abstraction mechanisms of FOP, perform well in implementing large-scale software building blocks, they are incapable of modularizing certain kinds of crosscutting concerns. This weakness is exactly the strength of aspects, the main abstraction mechanisms of AOP. We contribute a systematic evaluation and comparison of FOP and AOP. It reveals that aspects and feature modules are complementary techniques. Consequently, we propose the symbiosis of FOP and AOP and aspectual feature modules (AFMs), a programming technique that integrates feature modules and aspects. We provide a set of tools that support implementing AFMs on top of Java and C++. We apply AFMs to a nontrivial case study demonstrating their practical applicability and to justify our design choices.  相似文献

Integrating heterogeneous database schemata is a major task in federated database design where preexisting and heterogeneous database systems need to be integrated virtually by providing a homogenization database interface. Most proposed schema integration methods suffer from very complex result schemata and insufficient handling of extensional relations, i.e. in the way how redundant data of the input systems are dealt with. Redundancy among the input systems may thus remain undetected and, hence, remains uncontrolled.Our GIM (Generic Integration Model) method is based on the elegant and mathematically founded theory of formal concept analysis (FCA). The main idea is to integrate schemata into one formal context which is a binary relation between a set of attributes and a set of base extensions (set of potential objects). From that context we apply an FCA-algorithm to semi-automatically derive a concept lattice which we interpret as an inheritance hierarchy of classes for a homogenized schema. Thus, the integration task following our method can be supported by tools.  相似文献

Software is changed frequently during its life cycle. New requirements come, and bugs must be fixed. To update an application, it usually must be stopped, patched, and restarted. This causes time periods of unavailability, which is always a problem for highly available applications. Even for the development of complex applications, restarts to test new program parts can be time consuming and annoying. Thus, we aim at dynamic software updates to update programs at runtime. There is a large body of research on dynamic software updates, but so far, existing approaches have shortcomings either in terms of flexibility or performance. In addition, some of them depend on specific runtime environments and dictate the program's architecture. We present JavAdaptor , the first runtime update approach based on Java that (a) offers flexible dynamic software updates, (b) is platform independent, (c) introduces only minimal performance overhead, and (d) does not dictate the program architecture. JavAdaptor combines schema changing class replacements by class renaming and caller updates with Java HotSwap using containers and proxies. It runs on top of all major standard Java virtual machines. We evaluate our approach's applicability and performance in non‐trivial case studies and compare it with existing dynamic software update approaches. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Lignin is a promising candidate for blends with thermoplastic polymers. Still, this endeavour is a challenge due to poor compatibility between both components. In this article, the effect of lignin esterification on the improvement of the compatibility between hardwood Kraft lignin and high‐density polyethylene (PE‐HD) is investigated. For this purpose, lignin was esterified with acetic, propionic, and butyric anhydride; its amount in the blends varied from 10 to 40%. Light microscopic images of blends show a reduction in particle size and a more homogeneous distribution with increasing length of the ester carbon chains (C2 to C4). Modification of lignin enhances the moduli and strength characteristics of the blends. Butyrated lignin performs best, as tensile strength of blends can be retained near that of pure PE‐HD with up to 40% lignin content. An additional investigation of unmodified lignin with reduced particle size confirms that modification is the decisive factor to enhance blend properties; a sole reduction of particle size is insufficient. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Do background colors improve program comprehension in the #ifdef hell?   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
Software-product-line engineering aims at the development of variable and reusable software systems. In practice, software product lines are often implemented with preprocessors. Preprocessor directives are easy to use, and many mature tools are available for practitioners. However, preprocessor directives have been heavily criticized in academia and even referred to as “#ifdef hell”, because they introduce threats to program comprehension and correctness. There are many voices that suggest to use other implementation techniques instead, but these voices ignore the fact that a transition from preprocessors to other languages and tools is tedious, erroneous, and expensive in practice. Instead, we and others propose to increase the readability of preprocessor directives by using background colors to highlight source code annotated with ifdef directives. In three controlled experiments with over 70 subjects in total, we evaluate whether and how background colors improve program comprehension in preprocessor-based implementations. Our results demonstrate that background colors have the potential to improve program comprehension, independently of size and programming language of the underlying product. Additionally, we found that subjects generally favor background colors. We integrate these and other findings in a tool called FeatureCommander, which facilitates program comprehension in practice and which can serve as a basis for further research.  相似文献

In this work, spruce bark was used as a raw material to remove Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solutions. Three kinds of chemically modified bark adsorbents were prepared by treatment with formaldehyde (FB), dilute sulfuric acid (AB), and concentrated sulfuric acid (CB), respectively. The chemical modifications mainly changed the relative lignin content in the bark. Lower pH facilitated the adsorption of Cr(VI) ions because reduction of Cr(VI) ions to Cr(III) ions occurred during the adsorption process which consumed a large amount of H+ ions. Higher temperature accelerated the adsorption process, owing to the endothermic nature of the redox reaction. At initial solution pH around 1, the adsorption capacities of Cr(VI) ions on FB, AB, and CB were as high as 423, 503, and 759 mg/g, respectively, which were much higher than the reported adsorption capacities by other agricultural and forest biosorbents in the literatures. XPS analysis revealed the adsorption mechanism was adsorption-coupled reduction involving the electron-donor groups of lignin moieties.  相似文献

Xylans were carboxymethylated in order to increase their anionic nature and thus tune their surface free energy (SFE) and hydrophilicity, which are of crucial importance in the majority of special applications. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and polyelectrolyte titration results confirmed the successful carboxymethylation of the xylan samples. The main aim of this study was to investigate the influences of carboxymethylation of glucuronoxylan and arabinoxylans on the surface physical and chemical properties of the films made from them. Films were prepared by the casting method, and their surface morphologies were analyzed by atomic force microscopy. The surface chemical compositions of the films were investigated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and their influences on SFE, i.e., Lifshitz–van der Waals and electron donor and acceptor contributions, were determined using goniometry. The introduction of ~2 mmol/g of carboxyl groups into the glucuronoxylan or arabinoxylan molecular structures had a significant influence on the chemical and physical surface properties of the prepared films. Higher amounts of the carboxyl group present on the films' surfaces and higher surface roughness contributed to a significant increase (by 270%) in the electron donor component of SFE and to 40% improvements in the hydrophilicities of the films' surfaces.
