Dynafill, Dynasan-114, Lutrol-F68, PEG-10000 and PEG-20000 have been examined as potential bases for the preparation of fusion formed solid dispersions for molten filling into hard gelatin capsules. Investigations included, an examination of thermal effects on crystal structure by DSC and XRD, a theological study to evaluate capsule filling characteristics, dissolution studies on drug/base formulations, chemical analysis for free fatty acid impurities in Dynafill and Dynasan-114, and detailed studies on selected drug/base formulations. PEG-20000 and Dynasan-114 were not examined in detail, after preliminary investigations had shown high viscosity and poor filling characteristics for PEG-20000 and poor dissolution characteristics for Dynasan-114. Dynafill provided good release profiles when formulated with a variety of model drugs (Acetohexamide, Ibuprofen, Indomethacin, Quinidine sulphate and Theophylline). Results from hot stage photomicrography supported by DSC and XRD were used to construct a phase diagram of the Ibuprofen/Lutrol-F68 system. The evidence from the phase diagram indicated the formulation of a simple eutectic system with no solid solubility and a eutectic composition at approximately 35% w/w Ibuprofen. 相似文献

Malignant tumors are known to exhibit high rates of glycolytic activity leading to high production of lactic acid. Hence, neoplastic cells have elevated activity of enzymes responsible for glycolysis. Echitamine chloride, an indole alkaloid extracted from the bark of Alstonia scholaris, has been reported to have a highly promising anticancer activity against fibrosarcoma in rats. In the present study, the effect of echitamine chloride on energy metabolism of S-180 cells is investigated to have a better understanding on the mode of action of echitamine chloride. The effect of echitamine chloride on the mitochondrial and cellular respiration of S-180 cells was studied. Also, the effects on glucose utilization, pyruvate utilization and lactate formation were studied on whole S-180 cells and S-180 cell-free homogenate. The levels of glycolytic enzymes such as hexokinase and lactate dehydrogenase were estimated in which particular emphasis has been laid on hexokinase which occurs both in cytosolic and particulate forms in neoplastic cells. Hence the differential effect of echitamine chloride on the levels of total, cytosolic and particulate hexokinase has been investigated. In conclusion, echitamine chloride affects both cellular and mitochondrial respiration, leading to reduction of the cellular energy pool and thereby resulting in the loss of viability of S-180 cells. 相似文献

Stoichiometric mixtures of DGEBA (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A)/DDS (diaminodiphenyl sulfone) and DGEBA/mPDA (meta phenylene diamine) have been isothermally cured by electromagnetic radiation and conventional heating using thin film sample configurations. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to measure the extent of cure. Thermal mechanical analysis (TMA) was used to determine the glass transition temperatures directly from the cured thin film samples. Well-defined glass transitions were observed in the TMA thermograph for both thermal and microwave cured samples. Significant increases in the reaction rates have been observed in the microwave cured DGEBA/DDS samples. Only slight increases in the reaction rates have been observed in the microwave cured DGEBA/mPDA samples. Higher glass transition temperatures were obtained in microwave cured samples compared to those of thermally cured ones after gelation. The magnitude of increases of glass transition temperature is much larger for the DGEBA/DDS system than DGEBA/mPDA system. The microwave radiation effect was much more significant in DGEBA/DDS system than in DGEBA/mPDA system. The use of airborne laser radar (lidar) to measure wind velocities and to detect turbulence in front of an aircraft in real time can significantly increase fuel efficiency, flight safety, and terminal area capacity. We describe the flight-test results for two coherent lidar airborne shear sensor (CLASS) systems and discuss their agreement with our theoretical simulations. The 10.6-μm CO(2) system (CLASS-10) is a flying brassboard; the 2.02-μm Tm:YAG solid-state system (CLASS-2) is configured in a rugged, light-weight, high-performance package. to telecare service development. The results from this study suggest that informants’ views were shaped by prior knowledge
of conventional health and social care delivery in their locality, and the implication is that expectations and requirements
with respect to telecare services in general are likely to be informed by wider perceptions about the extent to which community
care should operate as a preventative strategy or as a mechanism for crisis management.

Most empirically supported interventions for adolescent mental health problems are either downward adaptations of adult treatments or upward adaptations of child treatments. Although these treatments show respectable effects with teens, a review of the outcome research reveals significant gaps, both in coverage of adolescent conditions and problems (e.g., eating disorders, suicidality) and in attention to the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of adolescent development. The authors critique the field, propose a biopsychosocial framework for the development of dysfunction and intervention, and discuss ways the developmental literature can and cannot inform intervention and research. Recent years have seen the development of a number of automated and semi-automated systems to support physiotherapy and rehabilitation. These deploy a range of technologies from highly complex purpose built systems to approaches based around the use of industrial robots operating either individually or in combination for applications ranging from stroke rehabilitation to mobility enhancement. The NeXOS project set out to investigate an approach to the rehabilitation of the lower limbs in a way which brought together expertise in engineering design and mechatronics with specialists in rehabilitation and physiotherapy.The result is prototype of a system which is potentially capable in operating in a number of modes from fully independent to providing direct support to a physiotherapist during manipulation of the limb. Designed around a low cost approach for an implementation ultimately capable of use in a patients home using web-based strategies for communication with their support team, the prototype NeXOS system has validated the adoption of an integrated approach to its development.
