Experiments on thermal spray by pulsed detonations at 150 Hz were conducted. Two types of pulse detonation combustors were used, one operated in the inert gas purge (GAP) mode and the other in the liquid-purge (LIP) mode. In both modes, all gases were supplied in the valveless mode. The GAP mode is free of moving components, although the explosive mixture is unavoidably diluted with the inert gas used for the purge of the hot burned gas. In the LIP mode, pure fuel-oxygen combustion can be realized, although a liquid-droplet injector must be actuated cyclically. The objective of this work was to demonstrate a higher spraying temperature in the LIP mode. First, the temperature of CoNiCrAlY particles heated by pulsed detonations was measured. As a result, the spraying temperature in the LIP mode was higher than that in the GAP mode by about 1000 K. Second, the temperature of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) particles, whose melting point was almost 2800 °C, heated by pulsed detonations in the LIP mode was measured. As a result, the YSZ particles were heated up to about 2500 °C. Finally, a thermal spray experiment using YSZ particles was conducted, and a coating with low porosity was successfully deposited.  相似文献

The Pt oxide thin film and Pt thin film were prepared by reactive sputtering and the electrocatalytic activity of the ethanol oxidation reaction was investigated in a KOH solution for developing the alkaline direct ethanol fuel cells. After electrochemical reduction by passing a cathodic electric charge, the Pt oxide thin film showed 29 times larger ethanol oxidation current than the Pt thin film. This superior activity was caused by an increase in the electrochemical active surface area and the existence of residual oxygen, which was confirmed by cyclic voltammetry and XPS measurement. Due to the contribution of the residual oxygen, the rate-determining step of the ethanol oxidation reaction might change, because the Tafel slope of the Pt oxide thin film during the ethanol oxidation reaction was changed by electrochemical reduction. Despite the total Pt amount in the Pt oxide thin film being smaller than that in the Pt thin film, the Pt oxide thin film showed excellent ethanol oxidation activity. Therefore, the Pt oxide treated by electrochemical reduction may be a promising anode catalyst for the direct ethanol fuel cells.  相似文献

Humans learn from incidents in their own life and reflects these in subsequent actions as their own experiences. These experiences are memorized in the brain and recollected when necessary. This research incorporates this type of intelligent information processing mechanism and applies it to an autonomous agent. In the proposed system, the reinforcement Q-learning method is used. Autoassociative chaotic neural networks are also used as mutual associative memory systems. However, an agent cannot retrieve all stored patterns exactly, especially in the case of too many stored patterns and a strong correlation among them. To solve this problem, we propose to use types of attentive parameters and attentive characteristic patterns. The attentive characteristic pattern is part of the stored patterns. When robots concentrate their attention on a specific part of a stored pattern, i.e., the attentive characteristic pattern, whole stored patterns are retrieved easily and completely. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through a simulation applied to plural maze-searching problems.  相似文献

Site-specific gene recombination systems, such as Cre/loxP, have been used for genetic modification of cells and organisms in both basic and applied research. We previously developed an accumulative gene integration system (AGIS), in which target gene cassettes could be repeatedly integrated into a pre-determined site on a plasmid or cellular genome by recombinase-mediated cassette exchange (RMCE), using Cre and mutated loxPs. In the present study, we designed a simplified AGIS. For gene integration into a target site, the previous system used two loxP sites in the acceptor DNA, whereas the new system uses a single loxP site. The gene integration reactions were repeated four times in vitro using Cre protein and specific plasmids. The expected integration reactions mediated by Cre occurred at the loxP sites, resulting in integration of four target genes. The system was also used for genomic integration of reporter genes using Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells. The reporter genes were efficiently introduced into the CHO genome in a Cre-dependent manner, and transgene expression was detected after the integration reaction. The expression levels of the reporter genes were enhanced, corresponding to the increase of transgene copy number. Recombinase-mediated AGIS provides a useful tool for the modification of cellular genomes.  相似文献

Although several kinds of computational associative memory models and emotion models have been proposed since the last century, the interaction between memory and emotion is almost always neglected in these conventional models. This study constructs a dynamic memory system, named the amygdala-hippocampus model, which intends to realize dynamic auto-association and the mutual association of time-series patterns more naturally by adopting an emotional factor, i.e., the functional model of the amygdala given by Morén and Balkenius. The output of the amygdala is designed to control the recollection state of multiple chaotic neural networks (MCNN) in CA3 of the hippocampus-neocortex model proposed in our early work. The efficiency of the proposed association system is verified by computer simulation using several benchmark time-series patterns. The hair lipid composition collected from 44 Japanese females between 1 and 81 years of age was examined for eight lipids including hydrocarbons (HCs), squalene (SQ), wax esters (WEs), triglycerides (TGs), fatty acids (FAs), cholesterol (CH), ceramides (CERs), and 18-methyl eicosanoic acid (MEA). In this study, the 5-cm length from the proximal root end of hair fibers, which had never been exposed to any chemical treatment, was used after 5-min incubation with hexane following shampooing. Hair lipids were extracted with solvent and subsequent alkali-solvent and were then analyzed by a combination of chromatography. Although the average contents of the lipids showed great fluctuations among individuals, there were significant correlations between the levels of each lipid, which allowed for the classification of the hair lipids into four groups: group A: SQ, WEs, TGs, and FAs (designated as endogenous lipids based upon their sebum origin); group B: CH and CERs (designated as endogenous lipids); group C: HC (unknown origin); and group D: MEA (the other endogenous lipid). A principal component analysis for eight lipids revealed that the hair lipid composition was characterized by a predominant negative correlation between each lipid for groups A and B. This negative correlation suggests that the endogenous lipids in group B serve as a barrier against the penetration of predominantly sebum-derived exogenous lipids (group A). Endogenous lipids consisting of CH and CERs (group B) and MEA (group D) should be designated as intrinsic internal lipids of human hair.  相似文献

The characteristics of control system design using a universal learning network (ULN) are such that both the controlled systems and their controller are represented in a unified framework, and that the learning stage of the ULN can be executed by using not only first-order derivatives (gradient) but also the higher order derivatives of the criterion function with respect to parameters. ULNs have the same generalization ability as neural networks. So the ULN controller is able to control the system in a favorable way under an environment which is little different from the environment of the control system at the learning stage. However, stability cannot be sufficiently realized. In this paper, we propose a robust control method using a ULN and second-order derivatives of that ULN. Robust control, as considered here, is defined as follows. Even though the initial values of the node outputs are very different from those at the learning stage, the control system is able to reduce its influence to other node outputs and can control the system as in the case of no variation. In order to realize such robust control, a new term concerning the variation is added to the usual criterion function, and the parameters are adjusted so as to minimize the above-mentioned criterion function using second-order derivatives of the criterion function with respect to the parameters. Finally, it is shown that the ULN controller constructed by the proposed method works effectively in a simulation study of a non-linear crane system. Two component water-soluble random copolypeptides consisting of N-hydroxyethyl L-glutamine and hydrophobic L-amino acids such as L-alanine, L-leucine, L-phenylalanine, or L-valine, were prepared by carrying out aminolysis reactions with 2-amino-1-ethanol (E) on starting copolymers consisting of γ-benzyl L-glutamate (B) and the corresponding hydrophobic L-amino acid. The effects of copolymer composition and sequential distributions, as well as molecular conformations, on the rate of degradation by bromelain in a PECF at pH 7.4 and 37.0°C to simulate in vivo polymer degradation. All the samples were found to be extensively degraded by random chain fracture with bromelain. Further, the degradation data for these samples followed the Michaelis-Menten rate law, being of the first order in papain concentration. The nature of side chains and the molecular conformations are important to the rate of degradation by bromelain.  相似文献

Deterministic propagation prediction methods proposed for indoor radio are useful for estimating the average propagation loss in real environments, which usually have complicated geometries. On the other hand, these methods generally fail to accommodate human body shadowing, which is a significant propagation effect in indoor picocells. Several empirical models to describe body shadowing have been reported. However, to our knowledge, no appropriate model that can be used in combination with deterministic propagation prediction methods has been provided in the literature. In this paper, a new practical model is introduced, which provides a way to estimate body-shadowing effects deterministically with the existing ray-determination methods. The detailed procedure to combine our body-shadowing model with the ray-determination methods is described. Several examples are shown applying the procedure to a simple office layout  相似文献

An investigation was undertaken on the adsorption and desorption properties of 2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate grafted polyethylene (PE‐g‐PDMAEMA) films to anionic dye anions with one to three sulfonic groups in response to pH and temperature changes. The amounts of dye anions adsorbed on the PE‐g‐PDMAEMA films passed through the maximum values at about pH 3 because of an increase in the protonation of dimethylamino groups caused by a decrease in the pH value. The amounts of adsorbed dye anions decreased below pH 3 because the ionic strength increased with the addition of HCl to adjust the initial pH values of the aqueous dye solutions. The amounts of adsorbed dye anions decreased with an increase in the number of sulfonic groups in the dye molecules at the same pH value because electrostatic repulsion was generated between free sulfonic groups of the dye anions adsorbed onto the PE‐g‐PDMAEMA films and free dye anions in the medium. A large number of dye anions adsorbed were desorbed from the PE‐g‐PDMAEMA film with initial pH values above 11.0. The cyclic processes of adsorption at pH 3.0 and desorption at pH 11.0 were repeated without considerable fatigue. The PE‐g‐PDMAEMA films showed practically regenerative adsorption and desorption behavior in response to the pH changes. In addition, when the dye‐anion‐adsorbed PE‐g‐PDMAEMA films were alternately immersed in water at two different temperatures, dye anions were desorbed in water at higher temperatures without any chemical agents because of the deprotonation of dimethylamino groups and thermosensitive contraction of grafted PDMAEMA chains. These results indicate that PE‐g‐PDMAEMA films can be applied as regenerative ion‐exchange membranes for adsorption and desorption processes of anionic compounds in response to the pH and temperature. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
