In this study, the heat and mass transfer of combined free and forced convection in the horizontal rectangle is explored. The governing equations together with the boundary conditions are solved numerically by using the finite volume method. The innovative idea in this study is to appropriately modify the Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations algorithm and thereby, the numerical solutions of the flow variables such as the temperature and the concentration in addition to the components of velocity and the pressure are computed. The Richardson numbers (Ri) for distinct gases and liquids are calculated for different Rayleigh numbers at low (Re = 50) and high (Re = 5000) Reynolds numbers. The dimensionless parameters, such as the Reynolds number (Re), the Prandtl number (Pr), and the Schmidt number (Sc) are appropriately chosen to calculate the Richardson numbers. Consequently, combined free and forced convection effects are analyzed. Furthermore, the heat and mass transfer aspect for distinct gases and liquids is critically examined using empirical correlations. The accuracy and the validation of these results are ensured owing to the solutions obtained from correlations being advised in this study and those are existing in the literature.  相似文献

An approach to enhance the sensitivity of the damage index using the prediction errors of autoregressive – autoregressive exogenous models by augmenting Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) to detect and locate minor damage is presented. Numerical simulation studies are carried out by considering a simply supported beam with single and multiple cracks. An experimental study on a reinforced cement concrete beam has been carried out to validate the technique using different levels of damage. The studies emphasise that the SSA improves the sensitivity of the damage index for detection and also localisation, handling environmental/operational variability and measurement noise.  相似文献

Europium doped calcium orthosilicate (Ca2SiO4) phosphors have been synthesized by the conventional high temperature solid-state reaction method in various concentrations from agricultural waste (egg shell as a CaO and rice husk as a SiO2). These phosphors structure from X-ray diffraction and morphology from scanning electron microscopy have been examined. Concentration dependent Eu3+ ions luminescent properties in Ca2SiO4 phosphors have been studied from the excitation, emission and decay curves analysis. The 5D07FJ transitions observed in luminescence spectrum allows to determine the site symmetry of the Eu3+ ion. A charge transfer band (CTB) at around 260?nm which is due to the Eu–O interaction in the host along with the 4f – 4f excitation bands due to Eu3+ ions in UV and blue regions are observed. The color co-ordinates determined from emission spectra varies with concentrations of Eu3+ ions and are found to fall in the red region. The decay curves show single exponential behavior for all concentrations of Eu3+ ions (0.01–0.4?mol%) and the lifetimes varied from 2.67 to 2.78?ms. It is worth noting that the present material is found to be far better than many red phosphors synthesized by using agricultural waste as raw materials.  相似文献

Hybrid nanofluids are formulated with various kinds of base fluids. They are designed to provide good heat transfer performance. They can achieve this by dispersing various kinds of nanoparticles in the base materials. This new technology of formulating hybrid nanofluids has a wide range of applications in various industries such as solar energy, medical equipment, and aerospace. Keeping these applications in view, this study provides an insight into the effects of convective heat transport on a Hybrid nanofluid, across a rotating sheet with a variable heat source. In this investigation, the governing boundary layer partial differential equations were modified into the ordinary differential equations, by using the proper similarity transformations. Later, they were solved numerically, with the support of the Lobatto IIIA technique in MATLAB. The influence of the Richardson number on flow parameters was studied, and it was discovered that increasing Ri increases the velocity while decreasing temperature and concentration profiles. The impact of various other flow parameters on the flow fields and also on the behavior of Nusselt number, coefficient skin friction, and Sherwood number were studied and represented graphically. The outcomes were found to be in excellent accord when compared with quoted studies.  相似文献

In an open waterway flow passage, the inclusion of flow distributor paves a way to understand the idea of flow uniformity of the water along the upstream side and prevents non-uniform flow of water besides the passage length as a function of flow rate. The interesting idea in the flow distributor is its length and porosity. The essential conditions that should be satisfied are: there should not be any turbulence and there should be a possibility of achieving uniform circumferential flow in the flow passage. The other critical issue is the accurate measurement of low velocity of water. In this paper, a propeller-turbine-type anemometer is specially designed, fabricated and calibrated to measure the local velocity of water in the range of 0.001–0.01 m/s. This paper signifies how the flow uniformity is achieved by varying the size and porosity of the flow distributor.  相似文献

The paper proposes a new method for evaluating the tolerance of trees to SO2 pollution stress, and grouping plants as indicators and controllers by tolerance index values.
