The calculation of the rheological parameters of fresh cement pastes plays a key role in understanding the rheology of cement-based mixes. Because cement paste is not a simple Bingham fluid, a suitable nonlinear model must be found for characterizing its flow. A test system in which the rotational speed or shear rate can be changed in multiple steps is regarded as a suitable rheological test protocol because the paste reaches a steady state. Furthermore, theoretical derivations show that the solution of the Couette inverse problem corresponding to the modified Bingham model and the Herschel–Bulkley (H-B) model is complex. However, a comparative analysis revealed that the yield stress of fresh paste could easily be obtained through a calculation process based on a Parabolic model. This study presents the complete calculation procedure for this model. The influence of the plug flow is considered, and test points with low minimum shear stress (τmin) are excluded. Finally, the accuracy of the proposed method is verified through comparisons with the results obtained using mini-cone slump tests. These results show that the dynamic yield stress calculated using the expression of the Couette inverse problem based on the Parabolic model in consideration of the plug flow is very close to the yield stress obtained using the mini-cone slump flow test. This proves that the proposed method could precisely characterize the dynamic yield stress of cement pastes.  相似文献

Nucleation effects of seeds in reactive magnesia cement (RMC) systems have been reported, but this process has never been directly observed. In this study, different types and contents of seeds were introduced in RMC formulations. Results show that seeded RMC samples revealed accelerated hydration/carbonation that led to their more rapid strength development, and the use of magnesite outperformed other seeds given their overall performances, as explained by their more homogenous microstructures. Further, in the model solution, the amount of Mg2+ ions adsorbed onto seeds particles continuously increased with the increment of Mg2+ concentrations, confirming the nucleation effects of seeds in RMC formulations directly, and seeds surfaces revealed a much higher affinity for Mg2+ ions than other ions due to their acid-base interactions. Therefore, the use of seeds could act as accelerators that shorten the curing period of RMC-based concrete products on a large scale.  相似文献

Video streaming applications constitute a significant portion of the Internet traffic today, with mobile accounting for more than half of the online video views. The high share of video in the current Internet traffic mix has prompted many studies that examine video streaming through measurements. However, streaming performance depends on many different factors at different layers of the TCP/IP stack. For example, browser selection at the application layer or the choice of protocol in transport layer can have significant impact on the video performance. Furthermore, video performance heavily depends on the underlying network conditions (eg, network and link layers). For mobile networks, the conditions vary significantly, since each operator has a different deployment strategy and configuration. In this paper, we focus on YouTube and carry out a comprehensive study investigating the influence of different factors on streaming performance. Leveraging the Measuring Mobile Broadband Networks in Europe (MONROE) test bed that enables experimentation with 13 different network configurations in four countries, we collect more than 1800 measurement samples in operational mobile networks. With this campaign, our goal is to quantify the impact of parameters from different layers on YouTube's streaming quality of experience (QoE). More specifically, we analyze the role of the browser (eg, Firefox and Chrome), the impact of transport protocol (eg, TCP or QUIC), the influence of network bandwidth, and signal coverage on streaming QoE. Our analysis reveals that all these parameters need to be taken into account jointly for network management practices, in order to ensure a high end‐user experience.  相似文献

Moisture ingression was studied in several composite sandwich panels, in which hydration was applied over a large surface area at the panel edges. Significant moisture ingression occurred in panels with cores of Korex (based on a substrate of a fiber pulp paper) and HRP (consisting of a woven-glass-fiber substrate with a polymer coating) of different density. Ingression was more rapid than in panels with hydration applied locally. Ingression followed an exponential pattern in time in most cases, in harmony with diffusion theory.  相似文献
