Latent heat storage by phase change materials (PCM) is a promising way of thermal energy storage for equilibrating the daily fluctuation of temperature in office- and home buildings. Bio-originated compounds have got great importance to evade further plastic contamination all over the world. Durability of biodegradable natural materials by means of environmentally friendly agents is an exciting challenge. In this study Ca alginate-coconut oil eco-friendly core-shell PCM microcapsules were functionalized with Ag nanoparticles, following their synthesis using harmless reducing agents. Throughout the preparation of the PCM microcapsules by repeated interfacial coacervation/crosslinking procedure, the Ag nanoparticles were homogeneously dispersed in the Ca alginate shell. High coconut oil content was achieved in the Ag nanoparticle-loaded microcapsules, which was not influenced by the Ag nanoparticle content. The high PCM content resulted in correspondingly high latent heat storing capability. The freezing and melting heat storing capacities were in the range of 83.6 and 85.6 J/g, as well as 89.7 to 92.6 J/g, respectively, matching to the extremely high PCM content in the range of 82.7% to 84.8% (m/m). Leaking of the heat storing microcapsules was not observed after 200 heating-cooling cycles. The Ag nanoparticle content did not influence the PCM ratio of the microcapsules, although as expected their antimicrobial potential was significantly enhanced by it. The highest Ag nanoparticle loading, that was 1.3% (m/m) related to the total mass of microcapsules, exerted excellent antibacterial and antifungal impact.  相似文献

Gelatinous polymer matrix microparticles containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared by a novel method to obtain quasi non-swelling anti-fouling paint additives with slow-release characteristics. A w/o type dispersion were elaborated with the aqueous phase of gelatin, urea, silver-nitrate and formaldehyde dispersed in linseed oil. Gelatin was cross-linked by formaldehyde, together with urea for limiting the swelling of the product. Silver-nitrate was reduced with the assistance of gelatin and formaldehyde into homogenously dispersed AgNPs. The microparticles and embedded AgNPs were visualized by scanning and transmission electronmicroscopy. Encapsulated AgNPs with ∼18 nm crystallite size were identified by X-ray powder diffraction. Characterization of gelatin–urea–formaldehyde polymer matrices was carried out by attenuated total reflectance FTIR spectroscopy. Silver dissolution from microparticles and paints with AgNP-containing microparticles was measured by inductively coupled plasma spectrometer and resulted in highly sustained release, compared to unmodified gelatin microparticles and paints containing uncapsulated silver salts. A 7-month-long fouling experiment run in natural sweetwater media showed that solvent-based acrylic paint with AgNPs-containing gelatinous microparticles as additives offered resistance against biofouling at low Ag-release ratio.  相似文献

The impact factor is one of the most used scientometric indicators. Its proper and improper uses have been discussed extensively before. It has been criticized extensively, yet it is still here. In this paper I propose the journal report card, which is a set of measures, each with an easily comprehensible meaning that provides a fuller picture of the journals?? standing. The set of measures in the report card include the impact factor, the h-index, number of citations at different points on the ranked list of citations, extent of uncitedness and coverage of the h-core. The report card is computed for two sets of journals, the top-20 journals in JCR 2010 and the top-20 journals in JCR 2010 for the category Information and Library Science.  相似文献

The majority of brain metastases originate from lung cancer, breast cancer and malignant melanoma. In order to reach the brain, parenchyma metastatic cells have to transmigrate through the endothelial cell layer of brain capillaries, which forms the morphological basis of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). The BBB has a dual role in brain metastasis formation: it forms a tight barrier protecting the central nervous system from entering cancer cells, but it is also actively involved in protecting metastatic cells during extravasation and proliferation in the brain. The mechanisms of interaction of cancer cells and cerebral endothelial cells are largely uncharacterized. Here, we provide a comprehensive review on our current knowledge about the role of junctional and adhesion molecules, soluble factors, proteolytic enzymes and signaling pathways mediating the attachment of tumor cells to brain endothelial cells and the transendothelial migration of metastatic cells. Since brain metastases represent a great therapeutic challenge, it is indispensable to understand the mechanisms of the interaction of tumor cells with the BBB in order to find targets of prevention of brain metastasis formation.  相似文献

The present article reviews the mass spectrometric fragmentation processes and fragmentation energetics of leucine enkephalin, a commonly used peptide, which has been studied in detail and has often been used as a standard or reference compound to test novel instrumentation, new methodologies, or to tune instruments. The main purpose of the article is to facilitate its use as a reference material; therefore, all available mass spectrometry‐related information on leucine enkephalin has been critically reviewed and summarized. The fragmentation mechanism of leucine enkephalin is typical for a small peptide; but is understood far better than that of most other compounds. Because ion ratios in the MS/MS spectra indicate the degree of excitation, leucine enkephalin is often used as a thermometer molecule in electrospray or matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization (ESI or MALDI). Other parameters described for leucine enkephalin include collisional cross‐section and energy transfer; proton affinity and gas‐phase basicity; radiative cooling rate; and vibrational frequencies. The lowest‐energy fragmentation channel of leucine enkephalin is the MH+b4 process. All available data for this process have been re‐evaluated. It was found that, although the published Ea values were significantly different, the corresponding Gibbs free energy change showed good agreement (1.32 ± 0.07 eV) in various studies. Temperature‐ and energy‐dependent rate constants were re‐evaluated with an Arrhenius plot. The plot showed good linear correlation among all data (R2 = 0.97), spanned over a 9 orders of magnitude range in the rate constants and yielded 1.14 eV activation energy and 1011.0 sec?1 pre‐exponential factor. Accuracy (including random and systematic errors, with a 95% confidence interval) is ±0.05 eV and 10±0.5 sec?1, respectively. The activation entropy at 470 K that corresponds to this reaction is ?38.1 ± 9.6 J mol?1 K?1. We believe that these re‐evaluated values are by far the most accurate activation parameters available at present for a protonated peptide and can be considered as “consensus” values; results on other processes might be compared to this reference value. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc., Mass Spec Rev 30:298–320, 2011  相似文献

The World Wide Web is growing at an enormous speed, and has become an indispensable source for information and research. New pages are constantly added, but there are additional processes as well: pages are moved or removed and/or their content changes. We report here the results of an eight year long project started in 1998, when multiple search engines were used to identify a set of pages containing the term informetrics. Data collection was repeated once a year for the last eight years (with the exception of 2000 and 2001) using both search engines and revisiting previously identified pages. The results show that the number of pages grew from 866 in 1998 to 28,914 in 2006 — a 33-fold growth. Besides the obvious growth of the topic on the Web, we observed both decay (pages disappearing from the Web) and modification. Even though most of the pages from 1998 either disappeared or ceased to contain the term informetrics, 165 pages (19.1%) still exist in 2006 and contain the search term. We followed the “fate” of these 165 pages: characterized the publishers, the contents and the changes that occurred the whole period. In recent years e-print servers and publishers’ sites became sources of large number of pages related to informetrics. Longitudinal studies following the evolution of a topic on the Web are very important, since they provide insights about content and the underlying Web processes.  相似文献
