Occurrence and removal efficiencies of 20 pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) including antibiotics, hormones, and several other miscellaneous pharmaceuticals (analgesics, antiepileptics, antilipidemics, antihypertensives, antiseptics, and stimulants) were investigated in five wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) of Ulsan, the largest industrial city of Korea. The compounds were extracted from wastewater samples by solid-phase extraction (SPE) and analyzed by High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS). The results showed that acetaminophen, atenolol and lincomycin were the main individual pollutants usually found in concentrations over 10 μg/L in the sewage influent. In the WWTPs, the concentrations of analgesic acetaminophen, stimulant caffeine, hormones estriol and estradiol decreased by over 99%. On the contrary, the antibiotic sulfamethazine, the antihypertensive metoprolol, and the antiepileptic carbamazepine exhibited removal efficiencies below 30%. Particularly, removal of antibiotics was observed to vary between − 11.2 and 69%. In the primary treatment (physico-chemical processes), the removal of pharmaceuticals was insignificant (up to 28%) and removal of majority of the pharmaceuticals occurred during the secondary treatment (biological processes). The compounds lincomycin, carbamazepine, atenolol, metoprolol, and triclosan showed better removal in WWTPs employing modified activated sludge process with co-existence of anoxic-oxic condition. Further investigation into the design and operational aspects of the biological processes is warranted for the efficient removal of PPCPs, particularly antibiotics, to secure healthy water resource in the receiving downstream, thereby ensuring a sustainable water cycle management. 相似文献

Graphene-reinforced aluminum (Gr-Al) matrix nanocomposites (NCs) have attracted strong interest from both research and industry in high-performance weight-sensitive applications. Due to the vastly different bonding characteristics of the Al matrix (metallic) and graphene (in-plane covalent?+?inter-plane van der Waals), the graphene phase has a general tendency to agglomerate and phase separate in the metal matrix, which is detrimental for the mechanical and chemical properties of the composite. Thus, synthesis of Gr-Al NCs is extremely challenging. This review summarizes the different methods available to synthesize Gr-Al NCs and the resulting properties achieved in these NCs. Understanding the effect of processing parameters on the realized properties opens up the possibility of tailoring the synthesis methods to achieve the desired properties for a given application. 相似文献

In order to reveal the unsteady features of gas–solid flow, the pressure fluctuations were measured at different locations along the length of the pipeline while conveying powders through the pipeline. Power spectral density (PSD) functions were obtained for the analysis of the pressure fluctuation. Two types of powders (fly ash and alumina) were used in this analysis. The PSD analysis was conducted by taking into account different aspects such as flow conditions (dilute or dense), location of transmitter (top and bottom transmitters), location of transmitter along the length of the pipeline (three different locations), material property (fly ash or alumina), etc. Analysis of signals from top and bottom transmitters shows that it is not possible to identify the flow mode at upper and lower portions of pipeline. The magnitude of power is found to be higher for alumina as compared to fly ash. PSD parametric analysis reveals that frequency bandwidth and average power decreases exponentially with increase in solid loading ratio. 相似文献

A polycrystalline ceramic with a new type of complex tungsten-bronze type structure, having a general formula K2Ba2Nd2Ti4Nb4W2O30 has been prepared using a high temperature solid-state reaction route after optimizing the calcinations conditions on the
basis of thermal analysis results. The material has been characterized by different experimental techniques. The formation
of the compound has been confirmed using X-ray diffraction analysis. Dielectric properties (εr and tanδ) of the compound as a function of temperature at different frequencies have been carried out. Temperature dependence
of dielectric constant indicates the presence of ferroelectric phase transition well above the room temperature. Complex impedance
spectroscopic analysis has been carried out as a function of frequency at different temperatures to establish some correlation
between the microstructure and electrical properties of the material. The nature of frequency dependence of ac conductivity
obeys the Jonscher’s power law. The dc conductivity calculated from the ac conductivity spectrum shows the negative temperature
